This noble sacrifice made up for Megatron's/Galvatron's harsh treatment of Starscream right up to his tearful death. Shame that Energon and Cybertron had to completely disregard crucial parts of the story such as who they were before they died, good men. But the canon was fucked up big time after Armada ended. At least we've got Michael Bay's movies to enjoy, but more importantly the original 80s film and War for Cybertron and the like. :)

@nicholascooney the reason he has Optimus goes back to his original colours is that he is no longer holding the matrix. He was changed into the dark colours by the matrix to be isolated from Unicron while Galvatron and the others were absorbed, since he relinquished responsibility of the matrix he was returned to his own power and colours

I always liked Megatron because he upheld some strange and twisted sense of honor. He believed in power, and that those with power ultimately clash to prove the superior individual. He sought to prove himself the superior over Prime, but would rather lose in a terrific, glorious battle than win in a challenge-less fight.

I also always kind of thought of Prime and Megatron as "friends" as much as rivals, and Prime's inability to let Megatron go stemmed from that relationship.
