...and at the time "rock culture" was still somewhat out of the Mainstream, so Clapton was, amazingly, still the least well-known of the three, even after Cream and Blind Faith, and his solo LP.
Considering that, at the time, Cash was still considered a C&W artist what an amazingly cool show the "Johnny Cash Show" was.
I'm grateful for having grown up in the late 50's and 60's. I remember hearing Johnny Cash for the first time in our new 1955 Ford.... It was the best and the worst of times...
@cogwell Yes you have to remember Clapton was very long at this time and he's on stage with one of his idols, Carl Perkins. I have seen video of him playing with Perkins about 10 years later and he didn't seem nervous.
This is great, my three idols playing simultaneously.

Check out Carl playing a Micro-Frets guitar!

This is a historic clip. Carl Perkins never got the acclaim he deserved and even these guys couldn't hold a candle to the rockabilly king.

Classic Clapton-picking two or more strings at a time. This is what made his sound so different from many other guitarists.

I'd be nervous too if I was on stage with Johnny Cash & Carl Perkins! Clapton was kind of a "new kid in town" at this time. Now HE is a legend too!

You can tell Clapton has this reverence for Carl Perkins, especially when Carl plays a guitar solo.
