how could anyone not like this that is very disrespectful it must be because he plays his own instrument unlike these so called artist today he could out play 95% of the people today
@thor1468 Be kind enough to tell me, who are the 5% he wouldn't have been able to outplay? Those who have the souls of money making machines and play up and down a scale at the speed of light?
@Jesrama1 the 5% are the ones still out there touring making good music that are not in the limelight and have been around for years there just not politically correct so they do not get the recognition they deserve.
@thor1468 Mate, I don’t know what you intended to say, but what you practically said was this: Stevie would easily outplay today's fake musicians who are 95% of all, but the remaining 5%, aka the real ones, would outplay him. IMHO “real” guitar players don’t play to outplay each other so to rank, list and compare them as though they were free fighting in the cage is absolutely disrespectful. Let’s judge and enjoy each of them by their own merits
@cutandweld67 he actually took this version from Buddy Guy (not in a bad way, most of stevies songs were covers or reinterpretations of songs by other artists) but yea all credit to him for the awesomeness but the basis of it comes from buddy
I kinda like to see how he is getting in the mood at 4:45 - 4:46, then gets disturbed by Reese, think a while what he played then goes back to mood again :)
lost one of the very good ones, enjoyed his music for years, one of the best guitar players, life by the drop, oneof my fav. have never seen a live version of the song, any idea where one could find it
I watch Reese Wynans on the piano and think to myself "wow, he is really good at it. I wonder how SRV will compete with that." Then Stevie Ray Vaughan starts playing and I'm just like "O.O"
@SuperGuitarDude perfect compliments of each other. Reese is a very talented man of the keys, good enough to play with Stevie, they never jousted with each other though, they rocked in perfect harmony, add steady drums and the cool basslines, that makes Double Trouble amazing. Did I mention the guitar player's abilities (:?
@ryste85 Yeah, This version is made better by the fact that Reese's key work is actually audible. (Unlike a lot of other footage where he is buried in the mix... as a keyboard player and audio engineer myself, I get pissed off when the audio doesn't represent what one is seeing). I have a better version of this very performance that has Reese further up in the mix. I will make it my mission to upload shortly. RIP SRV.
Jajajajaja yo siempre acostumbrado al tono de SRV osea su forma de cantar tan fuerte y cruda y ahora con ese tono tan bajo realmente dude cuando escuche la cancion pero como siempre el impresionando a todo el mundo
I was lucky enough to see Stevie before Texas Flood was released and he was AWESOME then, this is just above even that. I have about many, many versions of this song and during this period, the lead breaks are out of this world. Anyone that plays guitar can see his technique is breath-taking. The sheer strength of his hands is AMAZING. Look at the strings being bent, DAMN!
@MrSolakinz I know. I have been playing since around 1976 or so. I had laid it down just after Stevie died. Then while in Austin, we bought our son a guitar and amp for Christmas and then I began seeing all of the videos of Stevie on You Tube and it just pump new life into my desire to play again. Stevie is one of the best teachers you will find!
After so many years, his music, and tone can almost bring a tear to my eye. The man was that good! This version throws a little B.B. King type solo in there. GREATEST BLUES MAN TO EVER PLAY. I feel honored, and lucky to have seen him.
Here is to you Grandmother. Remember when we were listening to this man's music in my Chevey Blazer. Hope you are doing well up in Heaven. Send down some blessings.
@ryste85 agreed but you really shouldnt put the " " he told an interviewer he was playing his first wife and the man said "kind of a little joke first wife right stevie" and stevie goes no its not a joke its serious
This was the first srv tune i learned note for note since i started palying the blues at 12. Im 30 now. I give him so much credit for his major influence on my playing, but more importantly he gave me hope to say if Stevie beat his addictions to booze and drugs so can i. I was on a 1 way track to death, without SRV i dont know what would have happened to me. I say daily prayers to god and stevie for continues sobriety. He was the best blues guitarist of all time in my opinion. Thanks SRV.
I've never seen anybody channel the blues like Stevie. It's amost like he becomes possessed. Watch his face as he fades from a Albert Collins to B.B. to feel.
Up in heaven, right now, Johnny Cash, Randy Rhodes, Cliff Burton, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and Stevie Ray Vaughn are rocking out for God, celebrating the new year.
You know some guitarists have talent but not enough passion, and some have passion and not enough talent. Stevie Ray Vaughan had everything you could want in a guitarist. God blessed all of us who got to languish in his hypnotic and beautiful creation of music.
More than any other artist or guitaris, his style is a mix of so many things, but still his own. He goes from Woodstock sound, to Hendrix, to straight Rock, to Blues and who knows what else. Absolutely the most creative musician ever. I can't imagine what he's playing in Heaven for Jesus.
