@kbkushalutube : Yes, you can. It will have a different flavor (still good) but be careful, the masala is prone to burning in the pressure cooker. Add enough water for the gravy to avoid that issue.
Thanks Hetal and Anuja aunty. This is really helpful for students like me. I was wondering if I could just boil the Rajma in a pot because I don;t have a cooker. Thanks!
@kbkushalutube : Kindney Beans/Rajma can be done on the stove top but make sure you soak the Rajma long enough AND it will take a lot longer to cook. You will also need to keep adding additional water as needed as you cook.
technically you can do the seasoning first and then add the soaked rajma and pressure cook the whole thing but the taste will be slightly different not bad though!
Yes, you can use canned kidney beans but don't cook for as long as the recipe says -- maybe for just one whistle to incorporate all the flavors. Be sure to rinse the beans well (from the can) and then add additional water to the cooker. The taste of canned beans is slightly different but they work great when you're in a time crunch.
I am a college student who doesnt really know how to cook. I had a can of beans lying around and I found your site, followed the recipe and loved it!! Thanks so much =)

This is a 2 stage recipe. Can one not put all the ingredients in the pressure cooker and cook it like your one stage dal makhani recipe ?

ashfaqnazeer 2 years ago
Some people use soda but we feel that it alters the taste. It is better to soak them.

I saw the video twice but I did not see when cumin powder need to be added. I guess it would be at the same time when coriander powder was added.
