As twice as much power is need to steer compared to a motobike (Due to the forces the wheels causes). That makes such vehicles inpractical. That could be compensated with smaller wheel size but how damn ugly would it look like then :-)

Nice idea, but given the price of bike tyres and how quick they wear down which granted could be less with 4 but i doubt it would be car tyre performance, it would certainly cost a fair bit to sort the 4 corners on it!

The Tesseract was first shown off at the 2007 Tokyo motor show. It's a hybrid and while they did make a mockup for the show it has never been shown actually being ridden, only in CG. Concepts typically go into production within a couple of years of first being shown or they never see the light of day, as is the case here.
Yamaha has announced NO PLANS to produce this bike, which is a shame.
