  • I wish this documentary covered their first rehearsals more...like how all Jim's songs came to be.

Robby Krieger's first song he ever wrote launches into Number 1 on the music charts in 1967. How proud must he have felt? :D

Is that live video footage of them performing Light My Fire and The End available on the Perception box set?

  • Goddamit, just another damn good reason it sucks I wasn't in my prime in the golden age of rock during the late 60's early 70's

    R.I.P. Mr. Morrison.

  • why did you fucking die Jim Morrison? We miss you, even though we didnt even see you

  • LMAO 6:23 is a classic

  • u r my hero for uploading this,you know? :D

  • I remember when i first watched this documentary, i thought it was unbelievably awesome. And heavy.

  • klos was around at that time?

  • Thanks for uploading this Amazing doc! I've loved the doors since I was a child i'm 20 now lol But Thank You!

  • whats the song when it shows the montage

  • Trancendental days etched in my memory and a blurr of great times. There has never been another time like it. Music was somehow so much different then - what a great look back.. Thanks Johnny Depp! Great job - heartfelt narration, on the money for the times.

  • The Best for ever... The doors!!!

  • Jim Morrison was a genius.

  • @spelldeadcity It's "Surf Rider" by the Lively Ones

  • @UltraRockSounds Thanks a lot! I must have heard it in Pulp Fiction, that's why. Thanks!

  • @spelldeadcity Yeah, eheh. You're right, it's featured in Pulp Fiction as well. I discovered today the other song which I was intrigued about when Jim Morrison is tuning his radio at around 2:13. That one's from Otis Redding: "Love Man". Man, what an awesome track to listen to while you're driving!

you're welcome Bro. I'm glad to have been of assistance ;)

  • @UltraRockSounds I listened to it again. I guess it is him after all. His voice just sounded different to me the first time I heard it (last night). I'm guessing it's because he narrated this when he was a lot younger and his voice sounded a little different then. It also didn't help that I was at the whiskey bar a little too long as well. I'm a huge Morrison fan, and love Depp too. So when I thought it wasn't him I got angry about it. My apologies bro.

  • @Sennanchie "He was a lot younger"... Well, it was just 2 years ago actually ;)

  • @spelldeadcity Oh, only 2 years.. that's it? His voice just sounded a bit different to me for some reason. Usually it sounds a little deeper or something. Hard to explain. I've always liked the guy though. I was at his club (Viper Room) in Hollywood a few times back when I used to live in LA in the mid 90's. Too bad I never got to have a beer with him. Peace out

  • @Sennanchie Haha Bro. I just thought that comment was a bit too aggressive Bro. I feel bad for calling you an idiot too. I've removed my previous comment. Anyone who understands the Doors or is a Morrison fan is almost like family to me. Peace mate.

  • @UltraRockSounds No worries man. James Douglas Morrison was the best front man ever. The Lizard King forever! Peace to you to my friend, and thank you.

  • Narrated by Johnny Depp? It was obviously not him. Why would you lie about that? Total bullshit. Jim himself would completely agree with that too. You're a fucking disgrace for blatantly lying.

  • @PeterRoeder31 yes its dutch

  • Val Kilmer should've narrated.

  • @0509killer The Doors "movie" was absolute crap. It might as well have been about anyone else. Notice what this documentary says: At 16 he was reading Nietzsche, Rimbaud and Blake. The Doors movie shows no respect what so ever for the intellectual aspects or the artistisc aspects of the story.

  • @PeterRoeder31 The only good thing about that Movie is Val Kilmer's performance. He was the perfect person to portray Jim. It's too bad they got Oliver Stone to direct the film. In my opinion Francis Ford Coppola would've been a much wiser choice since he came from the same university as Jim and Manzarek as well.

  • the person at the start of the video is jim?

  • @KostasMoschato Not just the beginning but in All of the movie it's always Jim. That's from the movie HWY.

  • @UltraRockSounds That is amazing!!!! I thought it was a re-enactment!!! Thanks for uploading this-and for the info...VERY COOL MOVIE....

  • I already saw (not on youtube) , it's great! I am also an obssessed doors fan. I'm 30 now, and I started listening to them at the age of 12. The best group ever, and Jim Morrison is simply a genius.

  • Thank You!!!!! :D

  • !! That smile Jim does at 6:24 melts me every time!

  • This is awesome! Thanks!

  • no ahay uno con subtitulos en español?????

  • Thanks!

  • This is what I love so much about youtube. I can type in just about anything I can think of and instantly learn about it. I dont know much about The Doors. Nowhere near as much as I do about Hendrix, so its great to be able to watch full docs like this about these people. Thanks or uploading!

  • Greatest American Rock band EVER!!!!

  • @ColdHeartedMan1979

    absolute !!

i mean to me Led Zeppelin are nr 1 , but The Doors came directly after , or same as Zeppelin

    Fuck , i Love Jim !!

  • be nice to watch this without these fucking bullshit subtitles

  • dude you ROCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!

thank you so much for posting this up... :)

  • @blacklikemichaelj You're welcome. It's great to see so many Doors fans still out there ; )

  • @UltraRockSounds Im like literally an obssesed doors fan lol, i cry everytime when i think about jim morrison, i love him! he was just so amazing!

  • @blacklikemichaelj me too. If you're that much into Jim Morrison & The Doors I recommend you read a book called "No One Here gets out Alive" by Jerry Hopkins. I've just finished it today and I tell you, it's amazing and it goes much deeper into Jim's childhood and personal life than in this movie. Indeed The Doors can become an obsession that can't be properly explained. Because of their unique vision and their exploration of art mixed with their social views they're my fav band of all time.

  • @UltraRockSounds

i actually read the book, but something told me it was nonsense, for the most part, i didnt finish, or maybe i was too lazy. you're pretty amazing.

  • @blacklikemichaelj thanx a lot. I'm really happy to see people our age with such great taste still exist all around the world. I do agree there are some parts of that book I actually question wether they ever took placeor not. Either way, a lot of it is based on fact and It was a great read nonetheless.

I've just started following my dream and I migrated two months ago to England to pursue an opportunity in music buisiness by starting a band and getting signed up. I hope I can make it..! :)

  • @UltraRockSounds yeah it is great to see some people our age not listening to crap, dont get me wrong, there's good artist out there still, but its not recognized. like the indie rock bands, real music died and its sad. Anyways, i really hope that u guys make it,. I hope i can u hear u play! u got a fan already. i can be like ur first groupie :) lol, whats ur band called? seriously, do not give up hope and keep on trying tell u get there, work ur ass off, and you will make i know u can do it!!

  • Disculpa soi de mexico no podrias subtitular el documental si es asi te lo agradeceria mucho, si no pues de ante mano muchas gracias por leer el comentario y gracias por subir tan exelente material un abrazo suerte..!

  • This is so surreal. I actually thought it was an actor playing Jim at first, but then after seeing the way he holds himself, its def him.

  • 5:22 yaaaaaa!!!!

  • nice.

  • visited his grave recently, the location is so tragic/magic, just as his songs were

  • Nice! A true rock legend who unfortunately died on my 1st birthday :( R.I.P.
