man... it's almost impossible to find a good instrumental-only version of this opening that has the signature funky "wah-wah" (or "waka-waka-wow") guitar sounds. (from 0:07 or 0:08 onwards)
I think it was film entirely on location. Meaning no Hollywood studio, no filming in Canada or anywhere else. These days it is almost impossible to film on location due to permits and law suits of people who did not ask permission to be filmed. This is only my opinion.
@plutoplatters What's up with your post to hughdem? I think you totally misunderstood it for it was not a controversial post by him to elicit such a response. He was just merely stating what he thought. There was nothing "PC" about his comment. Yours comes off as being ignorant.
David Soul plays Jim Martin, a bigoted Inspector who teams with Steve Keller to track down a young Mexican suspected of murder; Martin's hatred of Mexicans threatens to derail the investigation.
This was a very good show. I used to watch it every week. It originally ran on ABC from Sept. 16, 1972 to June 23, 1977, first on Sat. nights, then later Thu.
@frankd1965 In the SFPD his off duty sign off with Steve keller would go something like , " Inspectors 8-1 to headquaters , 10-7OD . " The dispatcher would say , "Inspectors 8-1 , 1700 hours KMA 438 . "
Good question. Season three has episodes with Bill Bixby(A San Francisco native), John Davidson, Murray Hamilton, Luther Adler, Tony Lo Biano, Dean Stockwell, Brenda Vaccaro(Michael Douglas's old girlfriend)
Agree with previous comment. Also, why is it that the composers of these fantastic TV show tunes are never credited for their great work? Back then it was probably considered almost standard musical craftsmanship but now these tunes seem like work of geniuses...
Pretty much, The Wrecking Crew did all the music for all the sixties and seventies shows, cartoons, etc, plus a lot of work for Tiajauna Brass, The Beach Boys, and countless other groups, but I think Henry Mancici's guys did this. I KNOW he wrote it. The guitar and drums are pretty sick, I agree!
No joke, the first season had the best arrangement of the theme in the intro. I understand why they'd change it from season to season, but wish they hadn't.
@Drumyyy I hear you Drummy...love that wah wah. It was from my time . My son now writes and creates his own music and I am begging him to incorporate this unique sound.
I couldn't wat to get in front of the television to watch this....and a dozen more from the 70' and 80's
