I'm thinking Carol King for songwriting approach but there are flashes of Laura Nyro in performance as well. The arrangements, the gentle subdued horns. It sounds like the "soul" music that Laura was trying desperately to recreate. "Stone Soul Picnic," "Wedding Bell Blues." Diane Birch does a very soulful job. Look forward to hearing more.

Typing this after watching her perform on Later... With Jools Holland. Best show of the series so far with all the acts on it, but young Miss Birch definitely stood out for me. I enjoyed her performance of this track and Valentino.

Nice to have this type of music come to light again. Just think about all the older music that came out long ago, that didn't get to see the light of day. I wish I could hear this type of music from back then. At give them credit for creating this sound.
