I find myself on the edge of my seat when she sings, the way she phrases and uses space, makes me anticipate her next word, and then I find myself breathing a sigh of release only to have the whole cycle start all over again. After the song is over, I'm drained, tired, she's kept me at a fever pitch of anticipation. This is what singing is all about and she doesn't hoop and hollar or have a big range, yet she plays her audience like a puppet with her masterful phrasing and use of space.

Joao Gilberto made a beautiful cover of this Italian song (Estate means Summer in Italian), and Shirley had it translated in English. I agree totally on the pure class!
