From the 80's onward, the American economy grew at a pathetic rate, and almost all of it went to the rich. The middle class has actually been going backward. From the 80's onward, the American economy grew at a pathetic rate, and almost all of it went to the rich. The middle class has actually been going backward. FDR, by contrast, took unemployment from 30% to 10% in 4 years, and it's important to note that unemployment statistics back then didn't even count government employees.
