I'm glad to see your family enjoying the black soldier fly grubs. Once you get over the initial response they just tickle. :)
One point though; I wouldn't scatter any mature grubs in the yard until you get your colony established. All kinds of critters prey on the grubs including ants and other insects so the survival rate of those unprotected grubs may be quite low. Of course if there's any insecticide on the lawn it may also hurt them.
My yard has been strictly organic for four years. There are tons of potential predators, though. Oops.
