I remember that lady from the "Inside LSD" documentary...funny I run into a video of her on Youtube years later, out of developed interest and involvement in the culture. Small world...
I meant to put this on my last comment,I also made my own type of poi called bead poi they are not very efficient considering there only a bead neclace constantly linked together. They are my own type of finger poi :p this is another reason my I'm tring to get my parents to by me some ogg poi.
I'm just starting with poi and i've managed to make my own sock poi witch tend to get quit annoing. So I'm looking to get some ogg poi,I tried to search for some ogg poi at the website you listed but couldn't find any.Can you help me?I'm not really wure of any other websites that sell ogg poi.
My very first poi was one I made myself, out of a shoelace and a small (~10cm) stuffed animal. I caught a glimpse of a couple of these vids and just couldn't wait for the pair I had ordered so I took what I had handy and started spinning. I couldn't count the amount of times I smacked myself over the head and in the face with the thing but I *can* count the amount of times it hurt - None!
Henry the mole is now my mascot and where I go, he goes. =)
I have one of those rainbow-pois at 7:40! :D They are beautiful with their tail on^^ But I still love my old home-made sock-poi, they have the perfect bounce to them. :P
That fishnet stocking is a great idea! I'll have to remember that! I only have one set of handles/strings and two LED sets, so that would be a great alternative until I can buy another handle set!
@ 13:20 > I made these 5 fingered jailhouse sock without knowing their popularity & gave them away to a friend of mine who complained that they looked like utters...blah...i'm deifnately taking them back now ;)
How do spinners get the opportunity and know how to travel and meet like this? (Don't know why I'm asking, I cant even get to local spin jams since I don't drive! T_T)
i made my poi out of tube sucks and hacky sacks! i tried tennis balls but as soon as you hit some the balls shoot into crazy directions or at you...so i just stick to the hacky sacks..im gettin led poi this weekend yayy!
It was this video, after also being shown 'when circles dream' ..that made me want to do this. Like, seriously considering it, to the point of buying some basic poi, watching some instruction videos and then attempting to make my own. Thank you.
i bought those same glow poi as the white ones. different socks but same lights. they were the worst poi ive ever had. and you should avoid buying them :S
no i strongly disliked them as if you swing them too hard. they stretch. and not in a good way as they dont stretch back. also the sewing at the seams came apart withing a few weeks. horrible poi :) i love cone poi from home or poi though. ive recently purchased them and i recommend them to EVERY! that means you goldencopulations
making them is the way to go.. NO limits to how cool they will be.. and YOU made them, and you can always improve on your designs. make them for friends, possibilities are endless
that was a very informative video, but what i would love to see is a video showing ronan's poi! those yellow ones he does all the contact stuff with! id love a pair of those!
how about all that commented here, post a video response with their poi? Then this video and its links would be a great source for other ppl with alot of different points of view and different poi :)
I have found that Mardi Gras bead chains make nice weights for sock poi, and I put them inside a cut off sock; inside the poi. They have the right amount of weight, and don't hurt too much when you hit yourself.
Nice was this movie made at a festival, I go to Camp Creek and Wormfest (The Garden of Eden) Id love to see a poi tent at one of our fests, I'll have to make one I guess!
Home of Poi is awsum I got my fist poi balls from them. Now I've moved on to Flo Poi which I have to give 5 stars cuz there the shiz, check out my channel you can see me play with both!!
hehe in asia they have "concert lights" theyre like glowsticks but theyre special lights you get at concerts. which they only have in asia lol specially the little blow up clappers *nod* koreans used those all the time at their concerts and now theyre here gogo world cup ^^
yep i agree it was the fun part i started with glowsticks got tired off buying fresh ones so i made some led sticks. then i made some socks. bought my first fire poi. gonna make my next set
agreed! making poi and experimenting is definitely fun times. lol. i enjoy it anyways. love ur vids btw nick, u have helped my technique out a lot. hopefully i can get some videos up soon!
Very much so, Its great to see people of all walks of life communing with no negitive 'energies' so to speak. PLUR; Peace Love Respect Unity :) Its fantastic to see happyness in its purest of form :D Thanks for posting this video guys!
i'm just starting to play poi and I'm having a lot of fun making my own pois, cause I'm a designer and that's working out kinda as an exercize to my creativity.
Has anyone posted a good video showing how to weave kevlar rope into a fire head? I met someone on holiday recently who had done and the gear was really light, very bright and burned for ages...
nick thanks for that :) love the tubing idea for the poi heads, been suffering with some nasty backhand burns from a bad spiral wrap and this is the perfect idea, whats the shape of the flame from the heads like? Mark

I know its an old video, but I just came across it.
Just wanted to comment on the last bit of the video.
I think thats a brilliant idea, using a kevlar braid to cover the hot metal parts. It should be done on all fire poi :)
I'm currently working on a different material for fire poi. I have been looking at carbon fibre, instead of kevlar. Any views on that idea?
