@hum6web4 he couldnt thats why few hundred years the monarchy fell this building and the upkeep of extravagance was the cause of it s downfall it was only possible because of the finance minister of the time who worked like a dog
Great minds were conceiving philosophies that have not even been implemented yet while vacuous overdecorated bobbleheads paraded through these squat overdecorated wastes of building materials.
Versailles boasted not just the grandest of palatial settings but also the best hunting, the best theatre, the best opera, the best music, the best balls, the best gambling, the best clothes, the best fireworks, the best gossip, the best sex - the best everything that went to make up an aristocratic lifestyle.

I'm visiting Paris in the spring and can't wait to take the extra trip (by bus or train) to both Versailles and the Loire Valley castles. I don't like to travel to the same country or city twice; so I am looking forward to taking it all in - the best of France which is Paris, Versailles and the castles of the Loire Valley.
@AmericanEvita When I went to see this place there were tons of buses full of tourists, none of the guide phones worked, no one that worked there was friendly and certain parts of the castle you couldn't see because of work being done most the year. But, despite the endless lines of people it was kool.
@spareaxe When did you go ? The person who made this video went in 2008. It's now 2011; whatever work they were doing in the Palace is probably finished now and if I go in winter, it's not full of tourists. I prefer to go when there aren't so many people. Also, as for "unfriendly" people, that's crazy to me. France is a rich country with a great economy BECAUSE OF TOURISTS. If no one wanted to go to France, their economy would be different. We make them rich by visiting them!
@AmericanEvita I was probably there at the wrong time. Yes, no matter where you go there will be unfriendly people....the French don't like to speak English...only if you do some business with them. Have a great time.
Versailles (French pronunciation: [vɛʁsaj]), a city renowned for its château, the Palace of Versailles, was the de facto capital of the kingdom of France for over a century, from 1682 to 1789. It is now a wealthy suburb of Paris and remains an important administrative and judicial centre. It took me only 1 minute to Google it, meaning 1 minute will save you from looking stupid to the world with dumb comments..
@zeezg1224 No, it isnt. Common mistake. Versailles is a small village where Louis XIV wanted his palace to be placed, to escape from the growing hostilities in Paris. 19 kilometers south of Paris. So who's stupid?!?!
Non ci sono aggettivi per descrivere questa reggia,ho visitato un paio di volte la reggia di Caserta,ma quella di Versailles deve essere qualcosa di galattico!
Versailles is not in Paris.

Louis XV demolished the original grand staircase and replaced it with a drab piece of garbage...what a douchebag.
