  • The guy who sang this song, cheated on his first wife. They divorced and he remarried. He cheated on his second wife. She in turn cheated on him with a family friend who also did some work on their house. This man ended up killing him, wrapping his body in garbage bags and dumping it in a well on his property. The lead singers name was Walter Scott. I read an interesting book devoted to this topic entitled THE CHEATERS: THE WALTER SCOTT MURDER by Scottie Priesmeyer.

  • New State Law, Must play this song on full volume if played in St. Louis or St. Charles county. Any problems see Phil from Des Peres.

  • WOW GM :O

  • Big finish ending....

  • Great tune....one of the great one-hit wonders....

  • Saw them at an outdoor dance in St Louis in mid-sixties. Fantastic.

  • Great song.

  • What memories this song brings back! Along with Elusive Butterfly, California Dreaming, Sunny and others of the day. Great songs all of them - great memories which are simply precious and a part of life that growing up means. Thanks for posting, soultime654321.

  • Blowfly??!!! Who is that? Blowfly's version of anything won't last like Walter Scott's "Cheater".

  • Blowfly version is much better:)

  • how could you NOT like this song?

  • rest in peace walter scott hope the wife and boyfriend rot in prison.

  • "Look Out For The Cheater" prophetic words since Walter "Bob Kuban" Scott was killed by his wife's boyfriend and became one of the In men..In the old well that is!

  • @n8dogg3000 Actually Bob Kuban and Walter Scott two different people. Scott was the lead singer, and Kuban was the drummer (not unlike The Dave Clark Five).

  • Tony Blackburn Radio 1 BBC DJ in the 1960s played this every mornning......40+ years to find this song bravo You tube

  • Great song from the 60s. first heard on Radio 1 London - Tony Blackburn kept playing it every morning because his wife Tessa Wyett left him for Richard O'Sullivan the actor. It seems he never forgave him for that.......

  • Love this tune I played in Walters band for about 5 years...he was in my opinion one of the greatest "blue eyed soul brothers" of all time. His untimely death and the story behind it was shocking! I knew virtually everyone involved.

  • hahah! this music is in the game mohaa radio stalingrad XD hahaha!

  • Yes, the old Tip-A-Few days in Upstate Eastwood, New York.

    I played it many times.

    Record Ralph

  • um, I know the back story, I grew up in that area. However, I'd rather just listen to the tune, which is timeless.

  • The tune is pure greatness but I wish the back story was settled and on the record.

  • I was under the impression that it was settled(?)

  • No one ever actually admitted to anything, that I know of.

  • @Ramona817 Jim admitted everything in interviews

  • Why would you contact the family of the deceased singer and why would you search out someone that doesn't have anything to do with something that obviously happened well before their time? Seems a little strange. She probably thought you were stalking her. We actually know her, not him, through business and she is a super girl and bright.I would probably call the police too if someone was searching my traffic records and contacting me attempting to get information on me. Im sure they have kids

  • How Much?

  • Of course she didn't know Jim killed Walter ! Anyone need a bridge for a great price ?

  • I talked to JoAnn and I feel she did not actually shoot Walter but she did know that Jim had something to do with his disappearance and was relieved that Walter was out of the picture so she could move on with Jim Williams. Jim did have an accomplice but never gave them up. Why?

  • STUPID !!!!!!!!

  • Yes, they were all very stupid people. Jim Williams thinking he could get away with killing his wife and his lover's husband. Betty Louy for believing JoAnn had no part in her husband's murder, JoAnn going along with Jim''s shceme, and Walter for not watching his back. These fools let their lust lead them to a tragic end. YES VERY VERY STUPID!!!!!!!

  • AND, without Walter no Inmen reunion tours !

  • I wanted to watch this right after forensic files.

    R.I.P

  • I agree with all the comments about the excellent drumming but let's not forget the horns ("slice of blue eyed soul") and the vocal that was stilled too soon.

  • A-Rod,this song is for you!

  • Iv just uploaded a remasterd version

    Tom

  • This song is dedicated to Jon Gosslin and Mark Sanford..

  • R.I.P. Steve Mc Nair

  • Dedicated to 103 Major league ballplayers who have disgraced the sport from 2003-08.

  • Legendary Saint Louis group,,

  • We Love this song!! Its fun to sing and dance too.. We are going to ask to play this at next school dance..!! heee. Hope the boys like it too.. in Akron Ohio

  • Lead singer Walter Scott was killed by a cheater.

  • No, Walter Scott was the cheater.

  • Walter Scott was murdered by his wife and her boyfriend. His body was found buried on his property.

  • You are correct hollie65.

  • Jim Williams was convicted for the murder of Walter Scott (Walter Notheis). Williams got a life sentence without parole. Joann Notheis Williams married Jim after Walter Scott disappeared. Walters body was found in a cistern on Jim Williams property. Joann got 5 years for obstruction of justice and was on parole for 2 years under house arrest with electronic monitoring. I met Joann and she said she did not know that Jim had killed Walter. The story can be found in the book "The Cheater"!

  • I am reading this book now; it was written by my english prof

  • That would be Scottie Priesmeyer! Where is she teaching now? I was mistaken, Jim Williams was convicted of his wife's murder and Walter Scott and got 2 life sentences. I recently contacted Walter Scott's son's(by his second wife JoAnn) wife Carrie Notheis through Facebook. I gave her my back ground with JoAnn and Betty Louy. She was upset and threatened to call the police and implied that her husband Bryan was going to pay me a visit. They all live close to where Walter's body was found.

  • I did not know how Carrie Notheis was connected to JoAnn Notheis Williams until I did some online court research and found that she had a speeding ticket in 2009 that gave her age and address. Her husband, Bryan Notheis, had several court documents with the same address. Carrie, Bryan and JoAnn all live in Wentzville MO. just a few miles from Cottleville Mo. where Walter's body was found at Jim Williams home. They are all very cagey about this for good reason. Jim divorced JoAnn in '07.

  • i never cheat ....

  • Arielopeal, works both ways how did you treat him??? just curious...

  • Exactly!!!

  • This song rocks!!!! One of the best....

  • Wiener dog post below is for Shangfan.

  • This brings back great memories! Thanks for taking the time to post this classic!

  • Growing up in St. Louis during the 60's was so special. Bob Kuban and the In Men were the pride of St. Louis. This song brings back such sweet memories. I used to have all their autographs on one of those weiner dog autograph hounds...anyone remember those? I left it at home when I married and Mom must have tossed it when she moved. It even had Walter Scott on it.

  • What great memories for you! Sorry 'bout losing your wiener dog...I still have mine but autographs are faded. Coming of age in the 60's, we were blessed with the best music ever...truly a gift from the Rock & Roll Gods. Thanks for sharing your story. Nan
