Despite the appalling quality of the video, Tizwas rang rings around swap shop! All these years later I can still quote most of the catch-phrases. Tizwas was for those who were somewhat anarchic, Swap Shop was for the safe middle class kids in the home counties.
The video was one of "Sally James' almost legendary pop interviews." (In this case it may well have been legendarily bad) Still it is a piece of pop history now)
Bring back Tizwas!!! This is what they want!! It's Oooooooo Kkkkk Aaay!!
Alright,my memory is MUCH clearer than the picture but, thanks for posting this, maybe they were on more than once, because i remember the "flan fight" was with a band called "Sad Cafe"( No,i suppose 10cc were on aswell that day) ...They were Mega-Heroes (still are ) but TisWas was a great leveller wasnt it?... yes bootjangler..remember the Muriel Gray interview on "the Tube" i bet thats here somewhere...
I had completely forgotten about The Jam appearing on TISWAS. I actually watched that programme just because they were appearing - usually I was a Multi-Coloured Swap Swop watcher.
No you have me wrong as i always thought that tiswas stood for this is shit watch another station i had no joy with noel tidy beard it was always tiswas, for the odd video of motorheads overkill, or the salute to sailors sally did each week showing off her legs
I agree about Sally James.. I must have only been about 4 but I distinctly remember her in a basque throwing flour over a load of people in a cage. I bet this clip was recorded on one of them old videos that were seemingly made of wood.
what sort of potato was this recorded on?
kind edward by the looks of it.

it seems like and old tape being recorded playing on a black and white television - very "art school" :))
