  • The poise of a princess and the spirit of a warrior.

  • The main reason people did'nt like the film, is that it is too close to the truth.

  • 4 people like Xena Warrior Princess.

  • Oh and let us not forget the glorious British and French empires, if only the Romans still existed by then, they would have been in for a feircly rude awakening and lesson in how to really forge an empire outa steal....would love to see the Romans try their hands in two world wars as well, people give the Romans way to much credit, I pity them to be honest.

  • In the 1950s, a Penguin edition of the Knights of the Round Table had illustrations made of cut black paper on a white background, with over twenty tales in it. Some part of me has never forgotten it.

Recently, an American graduate in Old French, researching the texts of the period, opined that Arthur was really a local Cumbrian chief soon after the Roman empire's dissolution, and Guinevere and maybe even Lancelot too may have existed, even if with different names. There but for fortune...

  • When I was a boy of about 9 in the 1950s, I was given a Penguin edition of the Knights of the Round Table, with the illustrations made of cut black paper on a white background. There must have been over twenty tales in it. I don't think that some part of me has ever forgotten it.

  • the story of aurthur is just a story ...no hard evidence so lets not be picky ...it can be from any ware

  • They claimed that this King Arthur movie was the true story of Arthur. It was based on the book, Arthur and the Lost Kingdoms which claimed he was Scottish. I believe the historical Arthur was Welsh if that is the right label to use. Guinevere is portrayed as a Pictish woman. According to historical texts, the Saxons were imported by the Britons to fight the Picts. King Arthur was a Briton.

  • @PaganWarrior100

Britons did not import Anglo-Saxons, their enemys and still are in many aspects.

Celtic peoples are unified and also Anglo's showed up after the Romans left.

When the Romans failed to take Scotland (Caledonia "Pictland") and where run out, they faced a uprising amongest the Britons who initial gave them a go and their way of life, once they betrayed them and showed themselves to be barbaric savages that they where, Celts all across along with Queen Boudicca rebeled.

  • @phr34kyy

Not long after that the Insular Celts (Scots, Irish, Welsh, Cornish) of the British isles united with the Continental Celts (some of which settled in land unsettled near the Welsh and Cornish - the Britons) and lead a uprising and rebelion after being betrayed and ran the Roman Empire out and followed them back to their first area of Campaign in a part of Gual which was Northern Italy and sacked the Romans and freed them, thus puting an end to the ones occupied in the region.

Which is nonsense and not even taught as history in the UK or anywhere else, hes a heavily mythological character from the times of King Arthur and the Nights of the Round Table, and his existance is barely up for question as again, hes not even accepted or spoken of in history other then a supposed king of a small band Britons that hired many mercenaries to fight the north and failed hard.

His entire story and legend is heavily contradictory since evidence shows today they -

Without question are well known to of all united and because of the Picts defeat of Hadrian and his Elite 9th Legion fresh off the conquest of spain, emboldend the Britons, expectially after Queen Bouddica's uprising tensions seemed to break that and around this area in time and shows they added the Britons in revolting against the Romans they once embraced.

Later the Anglo-Saxons we know did try and failed hard, then the Vikings who also failed came back but conquered the Anglo's.

  • @phr34kyy

Then the Normans conquered the Anglo-Saxons who where now controlled by the vikings and formed England, Scotland and England fight 2 wars as England trys to conquer Scotland and fails, 100 years war etc, Scotland Allys with France which today is the oldest alliance in human history (Auld Alliance) second being England and Portugals Alliance, though portugal I'm not aware of had any real sigificant hand in the wars in military aspect anyhow.

Wars End, Scottish King James inherits the

  • @phr34kyy

English throne, proceeds to Unite the Kingdoms of Scotland and England etc, United Kingdom is soon created with al nations remaining seperate with their own laws and educational systems and so on etc....blah blah

All amazing and lovely history really, way to much for the small ammount a YT comment box would allow for though I'm afraid.

  • @phr34kyy Boudica's uprising was nearly 500 years before this time at the time of the emperor Nero.

  • honestly, the historical Guinevere (if there was one) was probably a lo more like this than the "traditional" Guenevere of Camelot the Musical. She would likely have been the daughter of a local chieftan that the Roman general (Arthur) married to gain power of the people and the land. It bugs me more that Guinevere is a Pict in this film, since the Arthur legend is Welsh. Other end of the country, guys.

  • How can I see it?

    Thanks!

  • I love this video so much! We have two things in common, I like this movie for the same reason as you do and I am proud too to be decended from such fine women! :D

  • to much violence for my taste...

  • Should've fought naked, though.

  • That girl rocks!

  • I LOVE IT <3 Keira is the best actress ever :D

  • this film is great i have it

  • The Arthur myths are Brythonic and Welsh, not Celtic. As for the role of women, I beleive you are over Romancing the reality. There are myths and then there are facts. You shouldn't mix the two.

  • @rrvb

The Britons and the Welsh were Celts.

  • Guinevere is portrayed as a dark haired celtic beauty, which is accurate, the celts were dark-haired. Just look at all your famous irish singers/celebrities sinead o connor, catherineZJ, enya, mary black etc.

  • i saw this movie about 10 times when it was in theatres

  • Great Video :)

  • love this! I have celt blood in me from my mom's side (25%) though I'm 75% eastern european. Pretty sure one part of my mom's side descends from the Bruce clan (its on our family crest) :D

  • So nice!!!

I do not come from the celts, but they are a very interesting part of history...

    nice music

  • Only a king could know

  • Grüße aus der Oberlausitz!

  • This is one of my favorite movies, and she's my favorite Guinevere.

  • You mean Gwenhyfar, right?

  • great movie - i am also proud to be descendent of these brave women! long live female strength.x

  • me too! :)!

  • sassenachs and iceni all the way.x

  • I liked the film, though it obviously has no historical or mythic accuracy they just used the names of the knights and the Arthur brand to try to flog it to a wider audience. Myrddin Wyllt who was one of the people the character of Merlin was based on did live in Carlisle for a large part of his life though that is the only tenuous connection I can see, the whole thing is taken over 100 years out of context I would not have minded so much if they did not try to flog it as the real story.

  • I disagree. They did not say it was the real story, they just said that this version was much more likely.

Now I never paid all that much attention in history but as far as I remember this version would actually make sense. (Also Merlin is more of a title than a name - unless I'm totally confusing stuff, which of course is possible ;)

As for mythic accuracy; there are a great lot of Arthurian Legends. Some of them differ greatly. For example did Guinevere not exist in the first ones...

  • @tigerwa

I agree there are many errors in it, but it's still far closer to the most likely actual historical origin of the myth than the medieval version of the story that most people are familiar with.

  • there is no History here, we have history only if we have clear documentation. There is no documentation about Arthur, Camelot, Guinevere. About them, we have only myths.

  • @CanoPinto

We have stories, and we can make educated guesses from them and other documentation we have. You can't just assume that the stories aren't based on anything in reality whatsoever.

People used to think Troy and Mycene were completely mythical and had never existed. Then their ruins were discovered. Does it mean that they didn't exist in history at first, and then suddenly they did?

No, they were ALWAYS part of history. We just didn't know about it for sure at first.

  • Arthurs father was Prendragon. If anything, he belongs to Wales/celts fully since at the time, wales was considered Britian, until to moved into where it is today (not counting scotland since they are their own country). Nennius wrote about him, he's in the Gododdin, he's even in the bloody Mabinogion. Why on earth would the Mabinogion tell about a roman? So don't assume he's roman until you look at all angles.

  • i love this vid it was realy cool but i also love the movie yes i know it dosent realy have a lot of history but i still love it i think its cool how guinevere is a fighter and in the end i am glad she marys arthur i was upset that lancelot died but i think that if he had lived she still would have chosen arthur but then again thats just me

  • Now this movie was powerful and interesting..loved it

  • Adoro musicas celtas!

  • Love this video. I LOVE listening to the music and have ordered the CD, but also the visuals are gorgeous! Of course you've used one of the loveliest women in the industry! God, the camera's love that face! And with good reason!

Loved the movie too, but I'm fond of Arthurian legend and love the tie in with the British Romans. Very intriguing! And well cast with HOTTIES! Yowza, can't tell which was luckier, Clive, Ioan, or Kiera! LOL

  • This is one of my favorite movies even though its probably not close to being historically accurate.

  • I didn't like this film very much, but I love that Guinevere was a warrior in it. Kiera Knightley's archery is beautiful!

  • love is beyond reason

  • Comment removed

  • No way! She loves Lancelot because instead of helping Arthur, she helps runs to Lancelot's side instead! Arthur should've died and not Lancelot.

I love how Guinevere kicks that bald Saxon's butt!

  • Guinevere is awesome! She barely registers pain and it only makes her stronger when she does have an injury. I love how she can kick anyone's butt, including Arthur's. She is the best of her people and Arthur's men. I just don't know why she didn't kill Arthur and marry Lancelot.

  • because in MOST legends (other than the movie) she was engaged to Arthur (arranged marriage) and she truly loved him with all of her heart, but the same went for Lancelot, and they all understood the triangle in which they stood. Arthur was Lancelots brother and Lancelot was Arthur's, by killing one of them, the other would be broken, and Guinevere understood that as well. Because they all loved each other equally, the trust was not broken. =) and....I would have totally picked Arthur

  • I love this comment. It's exactly how I look at the story as well. :) They were three kindred souls I'm sure.

  • beautiful-Movie is one of my favorites...Nice production

  • Yeah beautiful violinist and really rich sound.Good video to watch over and over.

  • Shame (for the celts) but the tall fair-haired Germanic Saxons & Angles ultimately destroyed the small dark celts and drove them to the barren wastes in the west. The Angles or English have ruled them ever since.

  • Actually you daft, ill informed and probably fat English yobbo, the Celts integrated and ultimately won every peace. Then, now and for ever more.

  • Not fat - a very tall & fair yob with both scottish & welsh ancestry. Why Vlad?

  • Yes, we are sure you are :D

  • We? You & who else you daft and probably lard-arsed little yobbo. Oh yeah and whats with the Vlad - bet its silly little Taffy Tepes from Gwynned!

  • Beautiful song, I loved this video, Tank you for sharing . obrigado acerb for send me

  • I have loved this video ever sence you put it up on here and when i sat in the chair in your house....this might sound corny but i downloaded this song and when i went horseback riding with my friends i listend to it and it was amazing!

  • Bah that isn't corny, I would so totally do that, of course I am a big ol'nerd :P Have you checked out any other Secret Garden songs, there are so many that are just as beautiful as this one.

  • The stupid thing on this film is, that the showed the saxon once as a sort of vikings and than as a sort of huns... But all in all it's a good movie...

    SDMF

  • What's the name of the song??

  • It's called Windancer by Secret Garden.

  • i thought i recognised it as secret garden! i dont have this one on my album tho. must be a different one... its very good! oh, great vid by the way! good portrayal of guineverw!

  • One of the reasons I love this movie is the fact that woad or Celt women fought in battle with the men. I just think that is so awesome! The Celts in this movie just intrigue me.

    Great video. :D

  • could u send me this song please?

  • I love the song!

  • do you know someone who has?

  • sorry I don't.

  • can you post the whole movie ? please?

  • I can't rip dvd's sorry.

  • Gailes viedeo<333333

musik ist echt hammer ich lieb ja auch abundzu so was mittelalterliches*GGGG*

  • This is a good video!! The music is somehow familiar. I wonder where I've heard it before.

  • windancer from Secret Garden,

    awesome

  • thats messed up they actually did research that the king might of been british and roman and he was a part of the roman military do your research before you tsart to say those horrible things about the american's and i am british but i live in america and i believe in all the stories so just shut up

  • okay, here we go....research and common legend states, Arthur's ancestry was Roman, his grandfather was roman. This movie didn't depict the story too well, at all. In every book I read it all played out differently, but to get to the point of this argument, Arthur was Roman and Brittish =)

  • ths film wasnt too bad, good battle sceenes, didnt like the depiction of arthur as a roman though. thats americans trying to destroy our heritage again as they aint got any as old of their own.
