I haven't been on a commuter into this airport, but I did have the pleasure of being on that beach for a few hours one afternoon watching the takeoffs and landings. Serious piloting skills needed for this little Caribbean gem!
Not really considering the terrain on the other end of the runway. I imagine it would take a fairly overpowered aircraft (or one with impressive STOL capabilities) to outclimb the terrain.
I have come to the conclusion that there is no where left to go, nothing left to do in this world that someone else hasent already done and posted a video of it on Youtube. I did this same thing 2 years ago. The pilot of the St.Barths Commuter let me sit in copilot seat and video the landing. Awesome.
Très fort! L'atterissage prend beaucoup de téchnique non!? Le plus court piste que j'emploie est celle de 2300ft! J'espère aller là-bas avec vous un jour!
lmao that approach is really high anyhow why not do the approach on the other side ?

Actually it depends on the wind direction, on no wind days the planes lands by the beach.. go arounds are prohibited in this case though..
ouanalao1 3 years ago
Sorry, but go aronds are prohibited? That sounds very strang..

Although obviously the hill approach is much more exiting why they dont land through the beach side. Seems to be safer but more boring though.
