Very cute bird! He looks like my Sam. Sam throws me kisses all of the time. I also have Joker, a white-faced cinnamon pearl/pied female. Sam is 21 1/2 years and Joker is 5 1/2 years!
I really like it and it made me laugh when my 21 year old dog barked at my lap top and then she see the bird on my lap top and was not sure to bark or run off.

@Jaimezer Hi. Cockatiels are often scared of being touched. You can teach your cockatiel to accept being pet. It's very important not to rush things as you'll only make your bird more scared and won't make any progress.
Check the great, detailed advice on theparrotforum. Some very dedicated people posted tons of help. I adopted an old cockatiel and he felt welcome in our family after a couple of months thanks to info I got there.
I have a cockatiel just like that, he knows 3 songs but only sings when he goes to sleep and when he talks its very clear and most of the time wont stop talking, hes probable the best bird eva buuut.... always bites my ear :/

@sportzmusicGod all cockatiels are lovable birds its very rare that you will get one that will frequently bite you. mine is a fucker lol she will yell at you when you walk past her and act like she wants to bite you but if you put your hand next to her she starts rubbing her face and tongue on your hand and grab your fingers with her mouth. if you do get one that likes to bite alot you can train them by feeding them from your hand not putting food in their cage to eat when they please

@sportzmusicGod 1st of all buy a HANDRAISED cockatiel so they are usually slightly more expensive, go to a reputable breeder get to know them if they the person u buy frm has more than one and get them at 2-3 mnths of age as u can train them better to suite U, they will possibly nibble u not bite so dont be afriand...and if u wanna a real talker u choose a male if u want a quiter bird a girl. I have a cinnomon pearl female named Ghost Freak
@sportzmusicGod i aggre with with sportz music but when you get your feathered friend if he screeches ( which he will -_- ) it will take time to train him out of it. sometimes several months to a year. where as biting isnt a problem, once you bond with him/her he will be your closest friend. bonding can take a week to a year. it depends how much time you spend with him screeching can mean hes exited as well. but you can train him out of it! worst mistake to be made is to keep him locked in cage
Hi! For mine, not really messy. Just make sure with your cage u put plenty of newspaper at the bottom of the cage so when it comes time to change, its really simple. Food wise, i normally buy 1 box of cockatiel food (around $5 AUD) and normally last quite a while (1 month or more). Its not expensive to maintain them basically. Hope that helps....:)

Also a good idea to gi them fresh diced veggies, some fruit and mine loves cooked brown rice ( Uncle Ben's) All seed and no fresh food is not good for them. Some even like yogurt and they all like anything salty but don't give them too much of that
@smalltownguitar also make sure to share what you're eating with them - especially fresh veggies - they usually will go for brocolli, carrots, pizza crust (sans cheese and meat) pieces of oranges, apples, and bananas. No avocado, no milk products, and no red meat. I even used to give mine a tiny bit of boiled chicken about once a month. I've had three cockatiels, one who lived 20 years, one who lived 25 years and another who's lifespan was unknown because she flew to me outside.

@smalltownguitar Cockatiels are one of the least troublesome pets you can have. They're very loveable. They make a very small poop about every 15 minutes, which you get used to and is not really a problem. You can buy seed and pellets every few months or so, but it's recommended that you feed them fresh fruit and vegetables and pellets and not much seed. Definitely buy a book on taking care of them. If you get sick, stay away from the bird and don't touch it. Mine died because of that. Very sad

They are amazing birds, I only wish I had a house so he could have an entire room to fly in. I do let him out in my room time to time, but its not the same.

hehe no i dont have a dog. I only taught him to say "hello", the whistle and the tapping on the mirror. Other stuff he did by himself, like bringing his head back etc :P

Mine looked exactly like this.. Only had her for about 6 years.. She died on Christmas Eve. We took perfect care of her, She randomly squawked and just fell over. We just assumed she had a heart attack. I don't think I'll be getting another one because she was my first, and none will ever seem the same. R.I.P Carrot <3

I have a 'tiel that is about 5 months old now. Not as talented, but loves to share bagels with me each evening and tries to participate in my activities.. spends most of his time on my shoulder, or else he sqawks until I let him walk up to my shoulder. He likes to take naps, snuggling against the back of my neck. He keeps my neck warm, that's for sure. Hope he'll learn to whistle like yours.

Looks like he's having a good time in front of the mirror.
I have a 'tiel that is about 5 months old now. Not as talented, but loves to share bagels with me each evening and tries to participate in my activities.. spends most of his time on my shoulder, or else he sqawks until I let him walk up to my shoulder. He likes to take naps, snuggling against the back of my neck. He keeps my neck warm, that's for sure. Hope he'll learn to whistle like yours.
