  • PETE

Y U NO USE THIS VERSION FOR SELL-OUT?

  • The best version of this song appears on Odds and Sods.

  • i never heard this version before, i agree it's better than the one featured on The Who Sell Out.

  • Nice video.

  • Hats off to azcarf44 to this great video! I love the style in which you did it! Love the straight edits with the zoom going. That old fashioned style. If I had a band and we were able to have a screen behind us with film, this would be something I'd have in mind. Oh and of course, love this version of "Mary Anne."

  • hey, thanks for this, never heard this version before - excellent !!

  • Thought i'd seen/heard all The Who stuff and now this comes along. Great Alternate Version and a big thumbs up to whoever did the video. Great stuff :)

  • I'm amazed this song got past the censors in 1967. Of all the versions I have heard, I like the acoustic-guitar-heavy album version best.

I wonder: which version does Mary Anne likes best?

  • @SunnBurn Oh I'm sure Mary Anne would be willing to "shake" to any version! LOL.

  • I've got the original DECCA label 45 of "I Can See For Miles." This song is the B-side, but it is definitely not this version.

  • I always kinda thought Pete Townshend was not being entirely honest when he wrote "Guys come from every city just to shake her shaky hands."

I'm inclined to think they probably came for sompm else. ;)

  • Best version! Love the Hammond organ.

  • Hmmmmm....Mrs. Peel as MaryAnne. Interesting choice. Never thought of her in this tune, but it definitely works.

Not SURE I agree with your opinion that this is superior to the album version (which I've always really loved) but regardless, most OUTSTANDING job on the video. Great flow; awesome choices. You're clearly a master at tracking down and selecting iconic period shots. Thanks for the smiles!

  • Al Kooper on organ---from Bob Dylan's band.

  • Great video! Thanks for including not only the transcendent Diana Rigg, but Mama Michelle Phillips (0:38) -- arguably the most beautiful of all the Sixties pop goddesses. Thanks for creating and posting this.

  • @mikal9000 Have to agree that Michelle Phillips was just transcendentally beautiful.

  • HI-larious! I always smiled at how 'innocently' obscene the lyrical content of this song was, but to hear the alternate version (I've also got an alternative version on my 45 of I can see for miles, which i still think is the best--sell out version was rerecorded acoustic, though the 45 version is not as 'electric' as this, plus doesn't jump a step mid-way thru the song) with the imagery so graphic yet also 'innocent' is brilliant. Well done ol' bean!

  • Girl at 0:25?

  • The lovely Diana Rigg

  • Loved the original version but this is so much better. Whoever put together the video photos did a brilliant job (and was obviously a big fan of the lovely Diana Rigg).

  • Great Video. The Who were one of the greats. As were The Avengers (all time favorite show). Thought the clip of the Millie the Model comic was whimsical.
