That is not true. I am a Chinese and I have never received any military training. Our army is also very small compare with the size of total population. Only about 2.5 million. Soldiers are not well paid and equipments are obsolete, but still enough to defend ourself. Anyway, it is not necessary to launch a war when one can have so many other way to solve the problem. Economic integration, for example. Wars have very long lasting impact, so why should we kick somebody's ass? For fun?

That is not true. I am a Chinese and I have never received any military training. Our army is also very small compare with the size of total population. Only about 2.5 million. Soldiers are not well paid and equipments are obsolete, but still enough to defend ourself. Anyway, it is not necessary to launch a war when one can have so many other way to solve the problem. Economic integration, for example. Wars have very long lasting impact, so why should we kick somebody's ass? For fun?

Yeah, it is small. Don't forget the long border we have to defend, and the U.S. does not have that problem. Our defense budget is also very low. A few years ago, soldiers had to raise pigs and crop to feed themselves because there wasn't enough money for them. Situation is getting better, but we are still far behind most developed countries. The good thing is we at least have some nukes and ICBMs, so we don't need to worry too much about someone to invade China right now.

Just because a couple of ragheads bombed a USMC base in Beirut does not mean that is a defeat. SOF have been in and out of there killing terrorists for the past 30 years. Vietnam was a political defeat, as the US never lost a major battle in vietnam. You usually don't "win" counter insurgency. There are no winners in guerilla warfare.
