Ive always luvv ur sense of fashion carly...its sooo awesome that you mix and match pieces! But I just want to mention that ive bought plenty of basic tees frm Forever21 and they have lasted me a very long time....you make it sound as if theyll easily rip off or something. I haven't had any probs w/any of my basic tees from stores like f21, that's why i would not pay $50 for a "high end" basic tshirt when my $9 tee last just as long!

For my basics I know think of: tanktop, blouse, t-shirt, longsleeve, cardigan, colbert, skinny jeans, stretch pants, skirt, little dress in light and dark. Do I miss anything? And what are your tips for buying this. Do you prefer to buy the really plain simple ones, or could you have some basics with a twist. I try to build my wardrobe in a better way, and I would like to check off, what I miss. Hope this inspires you for a video?

And are the basic pieces real investments or do you advice to buy cheaper basics to build on..? I think you will say, "buy essentials of really good quality" but I think it's kind of hard to buy an expensive and quite boring blazer that you can get for €40,00 at H&M. What do you think.

As much as I love all your videos, this one had a rather misleading title and was a letdown. You began to talk about having a basic t shirt that is of good quality, then you moved on to advertising this website. As an honest subscriber, I feel that you put your "wardrobe essentials" as the title--since so many are interested (including me!)--to lure your audience into watching it, then dropping the sponsored company talk.

If you're going to promote them, please just make another video.

One of my big problems is that i only buy things with really cool or interesting details, but then they don't mesh with the other things i own cuz they're too different or everything is standing out at once. but i always think basics are going to end up looking boring.

Generally I agree with you about spending more on basics so they last longer with one exception: white t-shirts (and white camisoles). Because no matter what, they will get stained and I'll have to replace them anyway, so I might as well not waste the money!

Forever 21 is more convenient and affordable for people and the clothes are actually holding up pretty well if you take good care of your clothes. Personally as a broke graduate student I wouldn't spend $30 for just one shirt.

OK so I used to be subscribed to jewelmint but unsubscribed because they DO charge $30 each month no matter if you are purchasing or not. when you take that style quiz, the match you with a piece so that if you DON'T chose something yourself that month, they choose it for you and still charge you that month.

I like your idea about having a quality t-shirt rather than a cheapo one. A few years ago I got a Michael Kors t-shirt from Nordstroms Rack and it has really held up, plus the material hangs really well. Every year I buy a few of the target shirts and with all that money I could have bought a more expensive one.... I'm not sold on StyleMint, but that is mainly because I like to feel the shirt and try it on first.

Hi Carly, thanks for your thoughts on Stylemint. I like Jewelmint and have some pieces from them but I have not gotten anything from Stylemint because $30 for a t-shirt seems crazy to me. I've never bought a designer t-shirt so I don't know the difference between that and the t-shirts I buy from, say Old Navy or The Gap. I may go into a Bloomingdales and see what a designer t-shirt feels like before I buy anything from Stylemint though just to see what they are like. Thanks Carly!
