  • I got shills at the beginning ^^ good work with acting and singing

  • Who ever he was his voice was GORGEOUS!!!

  • I like you're voice and everything, you preformed the song very well, I dunno, i just feel a deeper baritone would work better for this piece. You do have a very nice tenor voice though. I guess im just used to that kind of voice with this song.

  • This beast has great diction, and a very pure tone :) Great job!

  • If you make your vowels taller you will get a much more pleasant tone. richer and darker. Nice voice though.

  • Thank you for living out the character and letting that inform your musical interpretation.

  • Was this song in the original movie?

  • @hillaryishere1 No. Just the Musical.

  • Thank god a beast who utilizes a beastly posture. Good voice. That tail makes u look like a moneky though :(

  • I like the costumes and also the voice of the beast.Very good rendition.

  • i like this portrayal cause so far all the ones i see the beast is standing up-right and it kind of takes away from the performance in my opinion, the up-right standing beasts look like dudes in costumes rather than beasts

  • I love it <3

  • I think him taking notes a notch higher when it gets more sensitive is a good choice (practical or not) this makes him feel more human and sensitive which is what this song is about.

I liked it a lot, not the best but it was really good IMO :3

  • the fog is stupid. whats the point?

  • i love this song

  • this beast reminds me of Calibos from Clash of the Titans :P

  • this beast didnt have the right range. he couldnt keep the manly baritone sound on the high notes.

    i'd say about a 6 outa 10(if that)

  • Not very good acting....

  • ookete do you play in this musical?

  • I'm not in this one, no.

  • about half way through it sounded like a different singer. . . . got kind of weak. strong start though

  • yeah right at the part when it gets a bit higher

  • Very good!

    Sounds beautiful!

  • Belle's voice sounds like the Anastasia's voice. (from Cinderella) anyway, I love this song. great, great song.

  • i actually didn't like the acting i thought you could have used more gesture. you were kind of in one position the whole time you could have done better

  • so good, but the tail is so silly. Monkey beast!

  • @rokannis -- but the original movie! He has a tail in it!

  • ummm....wow....uber wow....god im tearing up, lol this song always makes me cry and this is brilliant

  • i love your posture choice for the beast. it's really strong and believable.

  • i agree with you stephensorr. the singing is too light and flippy dippy happy but the acting is great. the tone of the singing should have a darker, more rich tone to it.

  • It could be that its meant to sound like the human fighting to control the beast inside...I mean thats half the point of the song.

  • liked the acting but singing was not good. not near strong enough at all. too much of a lyric tenor sound. way to light

  • Bravo acting... you got my respect and admiration for delivering the song emotionally!

  • Your. Acting. Is. Epic.

  • Your shoes look like sneakers lol.

  • oh wtf, i realy love this song and realy realy have a hard time findign allot of poeple that this song realy FIT! they sound like, i dont know what, like the BEAST hes a monster, you need somone with a deep full voice to do this part not ysut someone that cna sing high notes and it is not that high to beging with its done for a bartion ore a good base htat can sing low and high, why is that so hard to find,

  • Listen to me sing this song. Let me know if this is what you describe.

  • i have sung this song manny times thats why i can say what i do...

  • hey guys. it seems that experts are everywhere on youtube (or they like to act that way anyway). I'm also playing the role of the beast but i'm starting to stress because it requires a lot of shouting and which makes me lose my voice. and my singing isn't that great let alone with a sore throat. any help? this dude is pretty good.... from absolute no basis of knowledge

  • This is going to sound generic, but drink warm tea with honey in it. I swear it works!

  • yes tea with honey!

    OR OR

what my cast and i did was right before warm up we sucked on honey with LOTS of lemon...or just suck on a lemon. It sounds pretty sour and i hate honey BUT it works : D good luck!

  • I'm playing Lefou in an upcoming production and the voice i use is extremely raspy and comical like. But it takes an incredible toll on my voice. I can only sing "Gaston" once a rehearsal in my character voice otherwise my throat hurts so much i can't sing at all. Just pace yourself i suppose.. that is what i am doing!

  • Ouch!!! Since when does the Beast have a tail...oh, and we have a revolving stage, so let's use it. Haha...that was very akward. What happened to acting contributing to visual interest?

  • Disney's Beast has had a tail every since they released the movie back in 1991.

  • He may have a tail, but it's not visible and 3 feet long in any productions or movie I've seen. Just looks kinda "fox-like". By the comments it looks like many people here have not seen professional theatrical productions. Having worked professionally in theatre (performer and director), you must forgive me as I am very critical. Wish I could have heard Belle sing or act more...her acting is great from what I saw! BTW, is this orchestra pre-recorded backing track?

  • @kellypeakd -- ...Have you never seen the original movie? He has a tail in the original.

  • @kellypeakd *awkward. and when we did BATB, we had a revolving stage. and he had a tail. give this guy some credit, he has talent. the song isn't about visual impressiveness. it's about the SONG and the words, I mean it's a ballad for chrissakes. Lol.

  • I sorta like his voice better than the guy i have on my ipod.

  • that was good? how old were you? My church always does 1 musical a year and its a big production with high schoolers and we did Disney's Beauty and the Beast and I played the Beast also it was my 2 show but first lead so my acting is so so lol but i have a video of this song and the reprise if u wouldn't mind checking out just go to my channel and its not hard to find again great job. btw i am a bass 2...

  • where was this? was it professional or not?

  • it was a non-professional community theater production.

  • The moving platforms where really distracting and took away from his acting alot. Yes and very flat

  • super flat up high, but otherwise pretty good.

  • when did you guys do the play?

  • I loved this show! It was more amazing seeing it in person.

  • It was good. We did the play a while ago we had a person who had perfect pitch play beast.

  • Wait...why is the costume from Cats in Beauty and the Beast?

jking of course...He's really quite good. Good voice...abit light in the higher range...but good all the same.

  • haha his arm movements are amusing, but his voice makes me just as happy =]

  • my brother was the beast for his school, he was amazing...this guy is too..........

  • yeah but it's really hard to find a baritone voice who can hit an F that powerfully

  • Voice too high for the part. Ok job. Horrible face painting.

  • looks sorta like Freddie Krueger...ha

  • i agree!

  • great camera person the person who tapes the shows i have been in sucks

  • the person who played the beast was really good at the acting part!

  • but it was still realy good

  • he kinda has a witch nose and vampire teeth

  • excellent job, but the beast needs a lower baritone sound

  • I find it really interesting that through the singing, you gave the beast a more sentimental feeling, not so much aggression.

  • Him cutting off at the beginning is perfect. That's how its done. I was in the 3rd National Tour of it...our Beast did it and so did many of the Beasts on Broadway. The first verse is kind of spoken, like he did. I REALLY like it and I'm a tough judge

  • What theatre are these being performed at? It's a nice size and has fair production values... I am moving to the Chicago area, is it anywhere near there?

  • No, it was in Southern Utah. Unfortunately the building has since been torn down! :( But the theater group is still performing at a different venue.

  • St. George? or Cedar City?...both have excellent theatre.

  • EXCELLENT ACTING BY THE BEAST! ENERGY AND ALL!

but you need to work on your bass fry and holding notes alot better. i played gaston and the beast in two seperate professional beauty and the beast shows in australia. gaston is my favorite though.

but the best needs to have a lower sound to his voice and more bass fry.

    other than that excellent!

  • amazing acting and singing! =D

  • I didn't like this one as much as others.. He cut off too many times at the beginning and he didn't sing beastly enough

  • not the best iv seen

  • amazing voice...but the performance and emotion lacked a little for me.

  • I loved the costume. It's right that he be hideous. I thought the cartoon made him too majestic.

I agree that his voice is too sweet-tenor for the role. But nice work.

  • Awsome! His theeth brake his voice some, hehe.

  • HE WAS AWESOME the costume was a little bad but it was good for the part and the teeth were way too big just my opinion and he was way too pale

  • He has a great voice, but it's not my favorite costume.

  • What a wonderful show. Great beast!

  • Where was this?

  • Wow, I know it's probably just make-up, but that is by far the ugliest beast I have ever seen in my life.

  • yhah 8i saw his hump thingy (bad costume is i can see it)

  • i always feel so sorry for the beast.. I just live so much into it.. and i hate it..

  • well, he does get the girl in the end. :)

  • Amazing voice! Could've used a better costume, though.

  • great castle set!

  • Type Jeff Barehand in the You Tube search engine and comment on this guys performance of the same song. It's much better.

  • Jeff is you, correct? I saw your vid. Very nice job, good high notes! Too much vibrato though. Also, it's one thing to sing in front of a camera close-up. It's quite another to fill an entire theater with your voice and emotion all while wearing many pounds of hot fur, face prosthetics, and fangs after a full first act. I wasn't the Beast in this vid, but I respect the talent that can pull it off.

  • You are right. I'm he. You are right too about the projection needed to fill a theatre. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do that someday. Thanks for watching and posting the comments.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I don't think people appreciate how hard it is to sing with the fangs, prosthetics, hot costume, etc. while giving all the emotion and drive this song deserves. I am speeking from experince in this roll. I thought you did a great job! Good passion and story telling.

  • This guy has a fantastic voice, though. Whoever he is, I really like him in this role.

  • you are right the song lacks power especially on the high bits where you should expect the song to build to a climax. The oppertunity is there to give it some welly but it doesnt happen. Its too sweet!

  • this is not the best version of this song i've heard. i don't know who the actor is but he lacks the strength this song requires - i can feel his emotion strongly but he needs a stronger voice to do that song complete justice.

  • This was an extremely touching performance. Maybe the most touching I've ever seen.

  • amazing voice. the costume looks so silly though ;)

  • who played belle and the beast?

  • his voice is too high. but it is still good.

  • oh nvm that last comment, i can tell its not B'way

  • is this Steve Blanchard??......it doesnt sound like him

  • A great visual and song, he didn't sing as a beast. His was voice was to "nice" to be the monster he is supposed to be here.

  • Simply Amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • AMAZING! Just AMAZING! I Love This Show! And All This Theatres Shows!

    Great Performance!

  • I'm performing this tomorrow night. While his voice is not the best, I did take a little from his movements. Overall hes not bad.

  • wow. so the first thing i said before realizing it was "is this a broadway production?"

  • I agree! Wonderful, simply wonderful! This is theater!

  • OK I totally wish I could have seen this show! IT LOOKS SOO GOOD!

  • You aren't related to me are you?

  • this guy has a great voice but it dont think it was right for this song. this song needs a belter, and a bit more passion throughout but mainly, and most importantly, at the end! this song is supposed to make the crowd jump to their feet and cry all at the same time! still i must say the guy has a really great voice! Congrats!

  • Even though I never had the chance to see this in person, the Beast is awesome!! Great voice, great talent!!

  • This guy's voice is great! In fact, I believe the only person that could have sung it better was the fellow that played Gaston at Rodgers Memorial Theatre in Centerville, UT. That guy was fantastic!

  • WOW...beautiful!!! Love Belle, too! When was this? Would you post the whole show?? Thanks in advance. Love to see it.

  • This guy's voice is great! In fact, I believe the only person that could have sung it better was the fellow that played Gaston at Rodgers Memorial Theatre in Centerville, UT. Now that guy was good!

  • thanks for the info.

  • I can sing this song better than him. I've been taking voice lessons for a year and half, and sing this song better when practicing.

  • Congratulations.

  • proof it...

  • Actually I think more then half of the people who watched this video don't care that you could sing it better. If you even could, because I think a comment like this is kinda rude.

  • go do your bragging somewhere else, preferably to someone who cares.

  • where was this put on? The effects look familliar from when I saw it at the musical theatre in my home town

  • Nice voice Beast, has he done anything else? Would love to see that too.

  • I wasn't in this production but my wife played Belle.

  • Simply amazing. Is this from a professional production?

  • From a community theater production actually, a group that works hard to put on quality shows.

  • No kidding! What role did you play in this?

  • hes not realy singing

  • indeed he is. :)

  • Trust me, he is.

  • lol, only cuz I know...that he really is :)

  • the fact that you do not sing doesn't means that he is not singing. I belive that it is obvius that he's really singing cause his voice is not the grettest one, but it sounds good.
