I think the judging needs reviewing. With all the dancers going to extreems to try to get attention and scores, and apparently getting them, dancing is changing more and more to a phyical pursuit while the artistic sides of things get sacrificed. If judges continue to score on number of spins in a bit, or how many metres are covered, and not paying more attention to styling etc, ballroom dancing is in trouble and becoming just a sport.
So many big powerful moves, lightning fast and technical, but often looking so unnatural, jerky and even violent! Couldn't it be more like a rumba dance, with a nice feel, rather than acrobatic show? It's named Dancesport only to try to become an Olympic sport for visibility and commercial reasons. Don't forget styling, the artistry, and what dancing is really about - looking beautiful without contortion, unnatural moves, and easy for us to look at, not just physically impressive.
