  • Nothing's cool like old school

  • God, I actually remember seeing this on MTV...Yes, I said MTV!

  • @tinibug28 you mean back when MTV played music videos?

  • @abdecker6 HELL YES!!! Damn, times have changed for the worse!

  • @tinibug28 nah bro they dont play rock music on MTV. no way bro.

  • @Circadrum16 ....this was during the early 90's, before MTV changed into Reality TV.

  • @tinibug28 My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who works at In and Out Burger who used to watch music video's on MTV. I guess it's pretty serious.

  • @bigdsears ...lol, ok Ferris!!

  • @tinibug28 I just hope Ferris gets well, he called in sick today. He was supposed to go out with me and Abe Froman.

  • @bigdsears ....the sausage king of Chicago? LOL! Tell Ferris I said what's up!

  • @tinibug28 Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

  • @snuptix No thanks. This is actually enjoyable.

  • Damn, this song is the epitome of awesome!

  • the 12-string bass has been used by Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick) for a while longer. But yeah, it is pretty bad ass.

  • whats with the hatred and name calling and threats.... funny that, cuz when i listen to king's x, i get goosebumps and feel like i am bening elevated to another plain.. i mean doug pinnick is an amzing singer, bassist ,songwriter.. and ty is a sweet guitarist, and jerry on drums is superb..... so who are thes moaning critics, and why are you even waisting your money on bitching about pointless shit on the internet.... KING'S X ARE BRILLIANT

  • a twelve string bass? fucking bad ass

  • @crazyunclerex59 he yeah he is known for playing twelve string basses a lot

  • how the hell could anyone read the lyrics in this song and think it's about him being gay? He's gay, so what, not all of his songs are about it - like Rob Halford for example lol

  • They were alt rock before it was cool.....respect the X...........

  • @dannon2010 The only that sucks is you sucking your dad's dick while your mom watches with disgusting delight!

  • @sydtull well now... I don't think your heroes would appreciate such non-christian thought. I think psychologist would call that "projecting". Yup, they still suck, and this video proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Not heavy, not pretty, just boring ass shit. Hell, they're from Houston, what would you expect from a rock band from THERE?! LOL! 13th Floor Elevators were the last decent band from Houston, and they all died or went crazy.

  • @dannon2010 Fuck you, troll. And for your information they're not christian music. You think they're boring because you've never been to one of their shows. Pantera, one of the heaviest bands on earth was from Texas. Wow. You must be a psychologist because you use all your valuable time time trolling on youtube instead of treating patients. Nobody has heard of your stupid band from Houston. So YOU can stab yourself in the neck and then shoot yourself! Thumbs up to that video for sure!

  • @dannon2010 LOL obviously dude you have no clue what good music is or isn't. This video is in no way an example of how talented these guys are. So how about this. Go find more of their stuff and listen to it. You're best bet is to listen to the stuff that DIDN'T get on the radio or MTV.

  • Respond to this video... Oh, and they are not originally from Houston. Do some research before you open your mouth please.

  • @dannon2010 You don't deserve to hear this brilliance. Go fucking shoot yourself, bitch.

  • @catshavesouls I tell you what...if I have to listen to these guys again, I WILL shoot myself. Thanks, but I won't need you egging me on... The ultimate darkness will be a welcomed relief.

  • @dannon2010 please listen to them again cause if you don't like them you should kill yourself loser!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bommer321 Hey buddy everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. and who the hell are you to tell someone they should kill themself. you hold no right to tell someone that.

  • @Eaglegirl4000 Just did didn't I ????? you can join him too slapper mole !!!!!

  • awful vid, but great music

  • 97.7 used to play all the time!!!!!!!!! that was when the station used to be good!!

  • 97.7 used to play all the time!!!!!!!!!

  • I love kings x and their music rocks but this video sucks !

  • they actually did 2 videos for this song. i wonder if the second version will ever be released?

  • king's x is so important to me. i love everything about em.

  • lead singer sounds like Kasim Sultan, ..never thought id say that in my life

  • 4 people are walking backwards again....

  • that's legit

  • Looks like 4 people had a black flag on their morning when they watched this!

  • It's a shame Dug Pinnick can't really fly like he does in this video. It would really cut down on touring expenses. I wonder if this song is about depression. I read in an interview that Dug struggled with it.

  • @Jefgg isnt it about him being gay?

  • @katkal3 I don't know if the song is about Dug being gay. Notthattheresanythingwrongwiththat. The song "Red" from Dug's Poundhound solo project is about his sexuality.

  • even the things that seem still are still changing

  • This album is the band's last truly great album.

  • King's X kicks ass.

  • funny how a bunch of agnostics got put in the label as christian rock lol

  • Only one of the best bands ever!!!! I can honestly say that it is so awesome to say that I saw them on their way up. I just wish much like everyone else that they would have gotten the recognition they should have gotten. Good guys and busted their butts to make great music and stay true to themselves.

  • This band reminds me of a heavier Living Colour, mostly through the vocals and impressive musical chops, I wish I had the voice of Doug Pinnick.

  • @ThePrimusSucks I've always thought about the same thing.

  • quietriotfan, your screenname shows you have taste in bad music. 80s hair metal is a disgrace and stain on rock music.

  • @apb7721 I completely disagree about your statement of 80's because hair metal had its good moments like other genres too. Still, the guy who dissed 90's was a tool.

  • The music movement of the 1990's was bad music. The worst, the more airplay and popular it got. How else to you explain that fact that Dee-Lite, All Saints, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Matchbox 20, and Cake all got popular

  • @quietriotfan1976 Fucking stupid comment. Bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana had style, uniqueness and great lyrics and songwriting. I'm not going to diss 80's like that other guy because they had great moments too but 90's were one of the best eras for music overall.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos

My main issue w/ Pearl Jam was that Eddie tried to sound like a cross between Robert Plant and Bob Dylan. And I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I think sound wise, lyric wise, Alice in Chains was far superior to Nirvana. As far Dee-Lite, Cake, and Matchbox 20......well, they still sucked. I hope that clarifies my view a little better.

  • @quietriotfan1976 Dee-Lite, Cake, and Matchbox 20 I'm not a big fan of so I won't say anything against it.

I agree that Alice in Chains were definitely skilled group, one of the best from 90's. I too prefer them to Nirvana (both bands are great) but Nirvana is 'greater' in terms of influence and acclaim.

Hmmm... You mean the lyrics? Singing-wise he has his own thing going on but I can understand that about the lyrics. Personally, I like Ten and Vs. the most, those were amazing albums.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos

Even though I'm not a Nirvana fan, it amazes me that it's been 20 years since Nevermind was released.

  • @quietriotfan1976 Same here... Personally, I think that music business really needs a kick in its groins: everything is so bland and copied. Where is the uniqueness which other eras had? I'm wondering about that...

  • @GoodGuitarSolos

Truer words couldn't have been said. Personally, I blame the rise of American Idol, lol.

  • @quietriotfan1976 I agree, man. I've always felt that American Idol really taints the music business because the artists (some of them are hugely skilled) are forced to make that same-sounding polished radio pop without any artistic effort. Sad, really.. (I'm hoping that this stops soon, luckily Beavis and Butthead are coming back to MTV so they will start airing more videos again. Also, B&B always judge music videos in their shows so we will hear some funny things about these cheap songs!)

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Yes, King's X is a pretty great band and its a shame they are not more know. Does someone need to make the same cliched sentiment that you have here in every single video for every band pre-1995? No. Let's just enjoy the music and not worry about the state of the music business.

  • @AshMonday I'm using the 'cliched' sentiment in different way than others: whereas some random metalheads would go and state "ALL MODERN MUSIC SUCKS" in some video, I'm just saying that the majority of uniqueness and creativity has dropped, I'm not denying that there are still talented artists.

  • @quietriotfan1976 You don't like Groove Is In The Heart??? I love that video! The freshness, the beat, the bass, the hook, the lyrics, the fashion, the dancing, the horns, the art, her hair, dancing and clothes, but most of all her voice! Her voice is amazing in that!

  • @1971SuperLead

The music just isn't what I listen to...I don't care much for dance or house music.

  • @quietriotfan1976 Personally, I like ANYTHING that is really well done. I will enjoy watching an old woman knit a sweater if she is the best at it. It's why I watch football. I don't care who wins, I just want to see some great plays. I love greatness. It's why I love King's X or Dee-Lite, in both there is so much greatness. Great greatness! lol

  • Dug Pinnick is amazing. fuck you all.

  • @Ruthlyn What about the people who agree with you? D:

  • The reason they didn't make it bigger than they did is because they're unattractive. It's not their fault - it's ours. If general audiences bought recordings because of the music then they would have had made a stronger commercial impact. Guys stopped buying CD's and instead spent their money on computers, software, games and accessories. Girls (slower to embrace new electronic doo-hickeys) became the main music customer. They want style, fashion and personality with their music.

  • I dont understand what everyone is talking about, Kings X was huge in my circle of friends. Everyone I hung with knew exactly who they were, especially during the dogman era. They were huge, and national and still are. Look at all the youtube videos of them through the years. Frickin love kings x!

  • 3 piece with a mammoth sound. Ty Tabor is amazing he has this slick "greasy" (and I mean that in a good way) style/sound makes it sound so effortless when he plays. The way he mixes thunderous bottom and picking cleanly through chords on a strat, clean to driven is so unique, what a great band. We need guys like this this today, music today totally sucks.

  • @bspatafore I disagree about "music today totally sucks": there are MANY great bands out there, both mainstream and undergroung but sadly there are also more mediocre acts. Music instrusty needs some unique, new band which would rocket new/old style into popularity again so music business would get back and rollin'.

    Well said about Tabor though.

  • Last great great Rock album. Listened to it hundreds of times.

  • It's only been 19 years since I've last watched this video.

  • Great to see these guys are still around. Good old fashioned simple rock!

  • Sucks having to put up with a commercial at the beginning, but King's X is one of the few bands, worth it.

  • @careing57587 Definetly one of the most underrated bands of all time! Why these guys weren't bigger than the Beatles is beyond me!

  • @mkultra138 I agree that these guys are really overlooked (sadly) but bigger than The Beatles? Come on, they inspired thousands of bands because they experimented, made memorable songs, etc.

  • They were ahead of their time and people just weren't ready for this and they got passed by.Hopefully enough stupid will wake and make this band as big as they should be.

  • @NoyzyBoyZ3 look at the guys jacket it's back in fashion now lol

  • Kings x wasn't rap....They were Prog Rock .... do your homework before you criticize. ;)

  • Where can I find the pure youtube video of this song? Anyone? You know, not the corporate cocksucking, (usually American lips on that) sold out youtube experience that is killing the internet medium and makes me instantly NOT want to buy anything related to the corporation or music label promoting it and further more urging everyone I know to NEVER watch the bought out video. These shilling idiots should realize subtlety would be a more effective approach and we were turned off by the norm.

  • @chloroplastjeff LOL! That's how capitalism works. If you don't like it don't buy it. The power of the purse. Vote with your money.

  • @dsvet Thank you for the economy lesson Rush Limbaugh. I like it, but already bought it 18 years ago and was expecting a brass ring like many others who enjoy the freedom and liberty of the internet. Are you a Vevo shill?

  • @chloroplastjeff Rush who??? Don't listen to him. Listen to Frederik Bastiat, Ludwid von Mises, FA Hayek or any of the Austrian Economists. Nothing is "free" someone invests time, energy and resources to bring you your internet. Your utopia simply doesn't exist.

  • This is where Linden got the idea for flight in Second Life.

  • Weird, but appropriate.

  • Kings X, Galactic Cowboys and Atomic Opera should all have been huge IMO. I think the fact that they didn't slot neatly into any sub genre meant the industry and media didn't know what to do with them, and also, like Trouble to a certain extent, some people were turned off by their religious beliefs, even though they never preached to anyone, hell, I don't even share their beliefs and I love them, I think they deserve at least Dream Theater levels of respect.

  • man? its so true these guys should be huge I mean huge. what a gifted band.

  • I've wondered why they weren't any bigger myself, like others on here. I'm tempted to say it's because radio didn't play them enough. But i remember hearing this, along with "It's Love", and "Dogman" hear in Nashville, so if they played it here, you'd think they played it everywhere else...I'm just glad I've got to enjoy their music.

  • Lets' think for a moment here. Bon Jovi was huge yet they sucked! King's X was great but didn't sell like BJ! Why? Obviously because the world is mostly covered with shallow people. King's X is not for the shallow. King's X is for the people who are preparing to advance off this shallow planet. The music is very spiritual. You can't love King's X and love being a servent to the flesh and to this earth. You cannot serve two masters. Your eyes are on the spirit my friends. Congrats.

  • @1971SuperLead Bon Jovi DID NOT suck. I agree that King's X were superiorly outlooked band but that doesn't make Bon Jovi suckier. I know that they have these overplayed glam hits like atrocious "You Give Love a Bad Name" or "Bad Medicine" but theyr 90's-period was great, sadly not that many know about it. Just check songs like "Dry County" (their 10-minute epic masterpiece, this will probably get some respect from you), "Save a Prayer", "These Days", "Damned", "Keep the Faith" etc. Check those!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Jon and Richie had great voices but that's were it ends. After that, all you have is rich, selfish, image conscious, unsympathetic, fake, plastic, corrupt, soulless, whoring, shallow, callous, greedy, corporate owned, pretty, ass kissing, stepford puppets. lol They are the spawns of the devil. Reptilians! They eat their own young. They are everything that is wrong with this world. Rich conservatives with long hair. I watched Dry Country. They looked so out of place there. Sick.

  • @1971SuperLead Haha, I have to say I loved your choices for the words you use. Still, I think you are seriously underrating their more skilled era. I personally don't like their early glam songs because they sound like a desperate attempt to get into popularity. (Apart from some songs) Nowadays they are horrendous posers, and their music is this 3-chorded repetive bland hit-line. Still, during 90's they actually showcased their talent (shortly...) with better songs.

  • @1971SuperLead Even if you hate their hits, try to respect the masterpiece that is "Dry County". I feel that there they at least attempted to be more serious and did it succesfully. Keep the Faith is easily their best album, after all. Also, These Days is great album which has more serious lyrics and all. And if you still think that they are 'reptilians' (Haha!), there is always Sambora's solo career which has appealed even people who really dislike Bon Jovi. If not, each to their own, I guess!

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Dry country a "masterpiece"? A masterpiece to whom? The reptiles? The song has nothing cool in it at all. I fell asleep midway until Richie's second solo and then I thought "Wow, this actually doesn't totally suck. I wonder how much coke he had to snort to produce this?" Maybe you think the video is a masterpiece. A masterpiece if you love cliches. How about Jon standing in front of that shitty Marshall amp! That was funny! You can see those guys hated making that video.

  • @1971SuperLead To me and many people: even the guys who I know to dislike Bon Jovi seem to like it. You are pretty ignorant guy, you know? For example, I dislike Yngwie Malmsteen's music but I can admit that he can play guitar, and has some fine set of songs.

I don't think that the video is a masterpiece, it is pretty standard. The full 10-minute song is, though. Your worthless opinion about it won't affect my opinion, sorry.

Could the topic go back to King's X? This is their video after all.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos I must of hit a nerve or two. I am no more ignorant than most people. I ask you what's great about a song and instead of answering me you insult me.

There is nothing to like about Dry County but some images of the desert. The rest is boring and rather sad as Jon has lost his magic and can't seem to find it back. He is a failure now. So sad. That is what happens to Satan worshippers. Their glory is so fleeting.

  • @1971SuperLead I wasn't insulting you but let's forget about that one.

I just love Dry County's melody. It has perfect climaxes, composition and parts which flow really well together. Also, its lyrics are damn fine, they actually talk about poverty and redemption. (Modern, bland Bon Jovi would never talk about anything else than "We Weren't Born to Follow", sadly..) The guitar playing is incredible, and the vocals are great too. Sadly, you will never find things like these from "It's My Life".

  • @1971SuperLead I have to say that I respect you for at least calling their voices good. Respect goes a long way!

And by the way, King's X is super, I just can't believe how they didn't become big names...

  • I absolutely love King's X. I have wondered like everyone else why they never became huge. But I don't think about it too much now. I am just grateful they enjoyed enough success to allow them to continue making their amazing music. Bigger is not always better. I sound like Dr. Ruth. How many bands reached arena status then broke up or started making awful music? Some fans actually resent their favorite bands if they get too big, but I think that is more of an alternative thing.

  • One of my favorite 3 piece groups. Just as good as Rush, ZZ Topp. These guys freakin" ROCK! Saw them live. What a show!!!!!!!

  • I, too, always wondered why they were never as big as bands mentioned below but then again, this is music inspired by the best the American rock scene ever offered. Ironicaly, huge decline in musical education by public has started in 80's and many bands who would have ruled the scene just five years earlier, never really made a mark except for hard core music fans like all of you and me.

  • Back in the early '80s these guys used to come see me play and tell me how great we sounded. Truth is I (personally) and most of the musicians I played with couldn't hold a candle to 'em. But that's the way they were - very gracious and unpretentious. I had the good fortune of playing onstage with Doug once. He filled in for an absentee bassist and, while he didn't know the material well, was more than adequate musically and quite the showman as well. Good memories.

  • kick ass r&r

  • so the video explains the song... whAT a concept..... One of my favorite bands!

  • one of the heaviest songs and images Ive ever seen/heard. bless these guys.

  • What a treat they are!

  • I love King's X Their songs are incredible, check out my video of "It's Love" it has SOUND..whose the moron that voted it down?

  • Awesome! I've always loved kings x guitar tone. Those raw and heavy texas strokes. NICE!!

  • Man i love these Kings X Videos, They were so underated. This was back when bands actually played their own instruments. Now days videos are nothing but computer generated CRAP. Long live KINGS X and the 80's.

  • Saw this band at The Ranch Bowl In Omaha in the early 90's. This was one of the best concerts ever. The venue was small and was able to stand next to stage.

  • Man, this still sounds so good!! Loving the guitar sound on this.

  • why were a lot of these videos from this time cheesy as hell? It doesn't really matter it sounds so good, it doesn't need the video.

  • @mukmewx this vid, actually goes hand in hand with the lyrics. Yes, it may look dated-but this song is truly about excorsing our own personal demons. Very Spiritual! Stay Humble!

  • @jjjb9098 hehe thanks

  • King's X is The Greatest Rock Band ever_yea they didnt pioneer rock n roll, but their individual and collective musical prowess! And hard hitting lyrics are my fave of all time!

    This song Fkn RULES!!

  • i saw this band live in Pompano beach, fell in love with their unique sound.

  • Yes, it is a shame they aren't a household name. They definitely deserve it. I even put in my vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They were and are that good. One thing for them that trumps everything else. They are STILL together and STILL making music. How many bands can say that they have been together for over twenty years going on 30. God Bless Kings X. A VERY VERY VERY and I'll say it again, A VERY SPECIAL BAND.

  • Great great band! No one wanted to follow them on stage.

  • Timeless greatness.
