  • Being from Texas, it doesn't matter what you kill hogs with, as long as they're dead!!

  • For all you 17 HMR haters out there, look up a video by Outdoor Adventures entitled, "Piglet Headshot - Double Kill." It may show up in the sidebar of this video.

The 17 round is EXTREMELY accurate in low wind conditions, and with proper placement, can drop a hog of any size.

If you can't shoot well, get yourself a larger caliber, but if you are patient, and have your 17 dialed in, GO FOR IT!

    Nice first shot!!!

  • great shot on the first boar, the shot on the second was way to far forward you need to visualize the brain within the head think in 3d the brain is suspeded with in the target and the angle to the brain chabges as the angle to the head dose.... you picked you spot beween the eyes but unrtunaly as the pig turned you didnt compensate you point of impact other than that great hunt man i just bought a heavy barrel 17 hmr savage thats gonna see alot of use.

  • Nice video.. Check out my hog hunt video and subscribe if you like.

  • yea your game is to large for caliber... get yoourself a good bolt gun in .223 and have a blast....

  • AND FOR ALL YOU P.E.T.A. MEMBERS; PLEASE, GET YOU HEADS OUT OF YOUR BUTTS AND START EATING SOME HICKORY SMOKE BACON... THEN YOU WILL KNOW WHY WE HUNT...

  • OH CRAP I FORGOT; I SHOULD KILL ROACHES WITH A TOOTH PICK, IN THAT WAY I WON'T MISS WITH A SANDAL....

  • AND THE POINT IS??? IF YOU CAN'T SHOOT FOR SHIT WITH A .17, YOU WILL SUCK EVEN MORE WITH A .308 AND RUIN SOME GOOD MEAT.

  • Love it! 17's are the way to go.

  • @mrkbalding general gun not modern, and some places u need a quota to hunt during general gun or deer, like Alapahtta flatts

  • One more squeler down....

  • Like your vid. Why spend $1 a round, when a $.30 cent round does the job?

  • 300 mag. Omg. If you're shooting them past 350 yard maybe. Less than 75 yards magnum rimfires are perfect.

  • WMA's only allow rimfires except during deer modern gun. Put the round in their ear and it's done. If you notice they went down.

  • What is the point of shooting hogs with such a small round? To prove you can? If you really want to prove something, why not use a slingshot? I have no problem with the pest control. Feral hogs are a problem, for sure - but a responsible shooter uses the right tool for the job. This is like trying to frame a house with a child's hammer. Sure, you could do it - but why?

    Buy a bigger gun.

  • @2ndarymotion Its not about buying a bigger gun for me in my state. I have bigger guns and plenty of them. Its about following the guidlines the federal and state governments have put in place. Bringing a bigger gun, gets me in jail with anything in my possession confiscated.

  • @jauthement How do you figure? What state are you in that doesn't allow hunting of feral hogs with a round larger than .17HMR?

  • @2ndarymotion I'm sorry, I didnt specify. Louisiana only allows rimfire or 10ga and smaller with 00 buckshot when hunting at NIGHT, using any type of light you wish. Sorry i wasnt clear in my first post.

  • @2ndarymotion .17 hmr is a devastating round despite its size. I kill lots of feral hogs on my property with mine. One shot one kill. I would be willing to venture that I could take out a nice sized buck with my .17 hmr as well but I have my .308 for them. Pest round for pest. why waste expensive ammo when you get the job done for less.

  • @buffmedic01 rly?

  • someone said it once already what about bow hunting its rarely an instant kill with them. And if you have a rifle and cant make the shot learn to double tap. I'm not for animal cruelty either however this is the lowest end of the spectrum and the responsibility is to the hunter to finish the job

  • what a bunch of cry baby faggots you all are. those pigs are going through unbearable pain???? what about bow hunting?? im sure you so called hunters trashing this vid do that...no different.. keep up the population control!!!!!

  • @ameritechdj People greatly under estimate the potential of small rounds at high velocity, and regardless of what they are going to do with the hog sadly they got to go the hog population is way out of control

  • Get a bigger gun like my .300 mag (hell atleast get a .300 mag) I hunt hogs year round in south Alabama on the gulf coast and I make a good bit of my money guiding these hunts. You might be able to sell the idea of "the hog being dead" and still moving, but next time get the camera close and let all of the gullible people hear the animal squeel in pain. Get a bigger gun,or stay home. Don't put an animal through unbearable pain. Let me shoot you in the ass and hear your pain. You are a disgrace

  • Well your 17hmr is a great small game rifle,it has no business hunting big game like you are.get a 270(like I have) and kill them b4 they hit the ground. U let them suffer through Alot get a bigger cal or stop hunting

  • " I love shooting them". Lol Ya dont much hog hunting lately. Do you ya use dogs to catch also or ya just "love shooting them" lol

  • Yummm! I hope you didn't waste all that meat! Wild pig is good eating. Looks like fun to me. Since pigs are an invasive species you are actually doing the ecology of the area a favor. I'm guessing that there isn't any season or limit on shooting wild pigs?

  • omg 41 likes 14 dislikes weird number....

  • whereabouts y'all located in florida. my mom lives in naples jw if there is any deer down er by wher my ma lives

  • @RandLoutdoors lol i mean hogs

  • How big was the hog that was dropped with the first shot? distance? seems pretty impressive for a .17

  • @JoeS434 17's are good out to ~100 yards for hogs, ~200 for smaller game. Essentially the same as a 40 grain .22 wmr (which the 17 is based on). The 17's advantage is flatter trajectory, and greater kill power over 150 yards. The 22 has greater kill power (on commercial loads) up to ~125-150, with lower velocities (and the subsequent greater variables in bullet drop and wind effects).

Personally I prefer the .22, but I rarely use it for hogs or over 100 yards.

  • @USSBN734 Which would you say is most accurate up to 150 yards? I am looking getting either a .17 hmr or the .22 wmr .

  • @JoeS434 It isn't that easy.

The .17 is flatter shooting, and faster, which would make it easier to shoot accurately at longer distances. The .22 wmr is more powerful at shorter distances (<~125 yards). So if you are planning to do a lot of shooting at distances 150 yards and greater, the .17 would prolly be better. Less than 125 and I would pick the .22.

There are some other factors to take into account. .17 ammunition is significantly more expensive, and (cont)

  • (cont) there have been some problems with SOME guns due to high chamber pressures (some recalls too).

If it were me, and I were going to buy only one rifle, I would choose the .22 WMR. Yes, it means a bit more of an accuracy challenge at greater distances, but only on really windy days. On still days, you will have more bullet drop, but that is easily accounted for.

Google ".17 .22 wmr ballistics". The top result is a good article comparing them. They like the .17 better.

  • Im guessing these are wild boar type hogs and if they are like i told another person on here you will want someone like this guy if one of the beasts rolls up on you to maul your child

  • That was awsome!

  • BTW what ammo did you use the 17 or the 20 grain and what part of Florida were you guys at

  • For those who have obviously no clue the 17 hmr packs more than enough kenetic energy to do this job. Second from the way the hog dropped this was an instant kill for those who don't dead animals and people!! will move after the nervous system has been destroyed example cutting the head of a chicken will cause the remaining portion of the body to start flopping and moving erratically. And to the idiot who said bush gardens this is what rural Florida looks like.

  • @swordandsnipe

Are you serious? I hope you dont shoot with a toy like .17hmr on prey bigger than a fox.

    kinetic energy of a .17 is less than 340J - bullet with 20grains.After 50yards only 220J.

What should this be - Airgunshooting in the Kindergarden.

For this job is a30.06 ok. 3000J Distance 100 Yards.

    Now I shoot for 40Years.

Cruelty to animals is not my job.

  • @hansolo820 Are you familiar with the energy dump theory, if not familiarize yourself with it. It is controversial the basic idea is that even though a small mass round such as 17 hmr will dump all of its energy into its target. Second due to the nature of smaller rounds .17 hmm, 223 rem. there is a tendency of the bullet to tumble due the majority of the rounds mass being in the rear.

  • @swordandsnipe

I agree with this , but we talk abouth fast killing and ethics.

If i had a bad shoot on the Hog only one or two inches below a bullet like a hollow point will increase

enough power to kill the hog in seconds - if i had a full penetration or not.

With a smaller bullet - and we talk abouth 1/10 of weight the animal will suffer a very long time.

What i want to say is - those people dont do pest control - they harm a living creature.

Cruelty to animals like i say before.

  • Second check out the 4.8x30 and the 5.7x28 both are small high velocity rounds both using a bullet between 30 and 25 gr. Both do a excellent job dumping their energy into their targets and have armor piercing capabilities. Third the 17 hmr being a low mass round produces low recoil and is extremely accurate to even the most novice of shooters, allowing the shooter to aim for optimum shot placement say an eye socket and allow the round to penetrate into the skull and make a mess of the brain

  • you were hunting in bushgardens? more artificial than you Americans do not exist. the next time, make a movie you fish aquarium in your home!

  • way to be inhumane asshole... kill the one thats on the ground in agony you selfish prick. im halfway tempted to report you for injuring a wild animal and letting it suffer. learn some respect you stupid selfish hick, i dont know where you learned your ethics in hunting but you might want to take another class.

  • @brennonbaxter666 omg you must be some liberalist. IF YOU DONT LIKE WATCHING ANIMALS GET KILLED DONT WATCH IT! jeez. this anima did not suffer in agony it was put down instantly, its frontal lobe was destroyed and was going haywire. please, before you comment like an idiot, know what you are watching.

  • @brennonbaxter666 honestly if this is a state where its legal to kill wild hogs...and boars theres not much you can do about it. If you have children and you ever go in the woods...you will wish a prick or redneck like this was there to help you when ur kids being mauled

  • I must say I hate when you do slow motion when the shot comes!

  • Comment removed

  • Wish i could shhot some pigs with my .17hmr, looks like fun....Sure looked like a nerve spasm to me!! nice shootin!!

  • funny thing is.. that pig is actually dead instantly whats left is just the last brain functions and death throws moving it around. I've shot farm raised pigs point blank with a 22 in the brain and they drop.. a few second later they thrash their legs for 30 seconds. its death throws nothing more. This pig did not suffer from the looks of it.

  • @freemanbrook you dont have to tell me mate. I live in Australia and we have a huge feral pig population. They are a huge menace to farmers as well as native populations. Im a keen pig hunter amongst many other species. My only point was that there is no need to make the thing suffer. Its not learning a lesson nor passing it on. lol. I hear what you say about taking them out with what you have on hand but, its just not worth posting the less "humane" kills on international forums like youtube..

  • @theslothman666 Youre right about the anti hunters hating regardless of how we present but when less "humane" methods are available to be used against us they start to have a leg to stand on. Im not saying the dude in this vid is a bad person, just not wise to give ammo to the antis.

  • .

    Nasty little .17's. Wow.

  • .17hmr is a bad ass lil round,

  • If you can't make a clean kill, make followup shots until it's dead, or take your knife & give it mercy. Anything less is cruelty & lacks honour & valour. Be a better person than that!

  • good shot! how is the trajectory of the .17HMR compared to a .22l.r. or a .223 rem?

    thanks

  • @nimrod8791 The .17HMR is a very flat shooter out to 200yds. Cant say that with the .22LR, you'd only be guessing, shooting, guessing, shooting. It's a nice round.

  • @firebrand07 thanks for the answer sir. that shooting, guessing, shooting.. stuff is exactly the problem that i have with my .22lr so i'm getting a savage in .17hmr soon

  • great shot

  • That pigs movement is not due to nerves.Like the other fellow said choose the right caliber for the right animals and don't give hunter haters the chance or opportunity to nitpick on other hunters.

  • @renegss In this case it did look to me like the hog was still alive, and the second one definitely was. A .17 is a small round and doesn't seem to me like it would penetrate a skull as thick as a pigs. However, you can't rule out the possibility of it being a reflexive reaction. I hunt ground hogs with my Ruger 10 .22 and .22 mag and usually go for head shots. Both guns always enter an exit and destroy the entire brain, and the ground hogs ALWAYS reflexively kick for atleast a few seconds.

  • HEYY you fuckin idiots that pig was instanly dead he hit in the the head right by the ear have you ever heard of nerves. SO once you KNOW what the FUCK your talkin about get back to me>

  • @bigbubbaJ534 Boy I was hunting when you were still in your daddy's dreams. There is nothing you can tell me about hunting. Learn to converse without using profanity and name calling. How's that for getting back to you.

  • Greedy ass going after the other hog instead of putting the other one out. Fucking weak.

  • It's funny to watch these videos. Americans shoot hogs with a .17 HMR or alligators with a .22 lr and the Europeans are using a 250gr 9.3x62mm slug to kill the same size pig.

  • COME on use a bigger caliber..17 hmr gives 150 of energy at 100 yrds..you are wounding even with shot placement..learn ballistics

  • @MrAlman72 a good shot will kill a human with 20 ft/lb of energy it is ALL about placement

  • dude i use gamo 177. cal pellet rifle hog huntin its all about shot placement GOOD job guy i love the 17hmr its bad muthafoya keep it up guy

  • @7stevel ha ha worst lie I ever read. I have a .177 gamo and it can only wound a magpie at anything over 20 meters. As you grow up and actually go pig shooting you will see how lame this statement is.

  • @theslothman666 im a grown man and hav no reason to lie gamo 177,22,25 cal. all will take down a pig im in west texas we hoghunt daily, and yeah u gada pretty close with the 177. so maybe when you grow up a lil bit youll realize how much of a fukin idiotic statement you jst made.

  • @theslothman666 bitch u ol honeybun body lil boy u need to grow up do you sme pushups learn how to shoot your gamo get some tattoos other than that gay shit on your arm then cme bak an talk to me until then stay the fuk out my business if you dnt know what your talkin bout. ive killed pigs in traps with my old 177. benjamin "franklin" pump pellet rifle SHOT PLACEMENT DUMBASS

  • @7stevel Shit sorry guru. I hate to disapoint you with my tats. I got em just for you too. Now Im heart broken. I think ill run off and do some push ups and see if I can impress you. shot placement on a pig in a trap is a bit different to "i use gamo 177. cal pellet rifle hog huntin". If you said point blank behind the ear I wouldve thought different. BTW wash your hands I see some rubbish on them:)

  • .....daß das Tier noch lebt ist im wuascht, nicht einmal ein Fangschuss..das ist kein Jäger sondern ein Riesen Arschloch ..........

  • HEAD SHOT!!!

  • 11 people think hogs are cute

  • Im a fox hunter down in Victoria Australia and i use the little 17HMR ( CZ 17HMR ) for foxes its a great little rifle for small game ( Sniping bunnies Foxes crows cats ) But its a bit small for pigs. I would be trying to hit the hog in the ear or between the eyes if i were you.. A 223REM or 243WIN would be much better for hog hunting and more humane kills could be taken

  • 1:27 cease eating, begin dying. Perfect.

  • fuckin ugly ass pigs running around and squealin and shittin all over the place. blast them hos.

  • Good shot! I still like my 22 mag though. Dont worry about those who say your 17 is too small they're just scared.LOL

  • you need to learn to keep your gun on him and follow it up with a second shot!!

  • all this cruel crap talk .. Pigs are a nuisance PEST that destroy land, crops and ecosystem they pollute water systems and spread e coli . . . KILL KILL KILL Pigs/Hogs but use what you kill either feed your self or donate the hog so that it can feed homeless is how i look at the issue.

  • Never use a caliber to small to put the animal down with it quick, kill them quick and make a good shot

  • i keep hearing people say use a larger caliber for hogs...he shot is with a .17hmr and it went down. any questions? Federal land in Georgia does not allow any rounds larger than a .22 during small game season and hogs are on that list.

  • @jismall2002 That's a good point. Blame the people who make the rules, not the hunters following them.

  • First of all the first pig was dead on the ground...I've shot deer with a 7mm that thrashed around more than that pig did upon being hit. I am a marksman and captain of a shooting team so I am certain that my shots were well placed and as lethal as could be. Secondly many places on public land you have to hunt with the appropriate firearm for the season, ie, rimfire shotgun or archery during small game season. That rimfire as accurate as it is is as lethal as anything with a well placed shot.

  • Be humane. Get a larger caliber for hogs. .17 is made for varmint and small game.

  • .308 makes a good hog gun.

  • do them hogs make good eatting?

  • GET A LARGER CALIBER FOR PIGS

  • shoot the hog and cage the elephant. Good combo.

I love my .17hmr. I wish we had hogs to shoot in my neck of the woods.

  • @BigAgitator use carbine .30..good round and SEMI-AUTO..not 1 round can bring down the wild hog. Animal which lived in the wild, they are stronger than what you think. Stay in safe side. In the deep jungle of Vietnam, hunter alsways went with 2 people and never use single action..Nerver use M-16 (.223-5.56mm) to kill hogs. The skin of them are to hard, The bullet wil bound off just like you shoot them to head of Russian Bear. 7.62x39 (AK-47 or SKS round) are OK. .308 are OK....22 or .17 small

  • @CharlieDoan or the 300 win mag- a favorite of mine

  • shit kill em with a 17 hmr we are dealing with a pig epidemic lmao good job man i deer hunt with a .17 hmr and a .22lr it dont matter they leave blood trails for a reason to find them???

  • I agree if this is a .17 you want beating with the blunt end of it. 17 is not a pig calibre.

try getting a good centrefire if you have such a problem with pigs!!!

  • awesome clip mate!

what type of .17hmr is it?

    is it a marlin?

  • Come on mate, if you insist on uploading your pig shooting vids, at least get a centrefire rifle and kill the little buggers with 1 shot. 17hmr are great for rabbits, foxes and other small animals, but you're just being cruel by not knocking those little piggies over with 1 shot. Get a .222.

  • Comment removed

  • @theslothman666 Personally I wouldn't use anything smaller than a .223 on pigs the 17HMR is great for rabbits though.

  • @theslothman666

i agree get a bigger caliber man..be ethical about it..you are wounding allover the place..17 are for varmints not for pigs...even with good shot placement the little bullet will make them suffer more than with a big caliber..

300 pounds of energy at 100 yrds come on! thats wounding energy..lets learn ballistics people..

  • @MrAlman72 Spot on mate. We can compare a rifle calibre to a set of screw drivers. The right size for the lob.

  • @theslothman666 I agree.

  • @theslothman666 yur a hunter but yuh sound like one of these lil gurls that start bitching wen sumthing gets killed. 17hmr is a great cal for small game. ppl should focus on other shit in life than on how a pig suffers wen it isnt killed immediatly. its a pig. they dont know how much we suffer wen we have to pay tons of money for wat they do to our farms. also im not saying i would let them suffer but if they arent killed on the spot wen they are laying down so wat give em a min to pass away.

  • @football4lyfe34 If you want to have a shot at me read all of what I say 1st. Meh. Im probably arguing with kids or inbred hicks anyway. Not worth my time. Do what you want. At least when I get this sort of shit thrown at me by the anti groups I can say "well they are Americans. We have actual hunting ethics here"

  • @theslothman666 you my friend are a fucking retard.

  • @theslothman666 hey fuckstick, its obviously legal where he's at and if ya know how to shoot an hmr will kill a moose, or bigger, hunt how ya want but mind your own business n leave this guy alone

  • Love pork. But judging by this vid, and keep in mind I have a Savage 17 for chucks and silhouette, it's too small for hogs. Kind of cruel.

  • How much is a box of 17hmr bullets

  • In real life never shoot big animal with baby .17

need semi auto to do the work because if u miss then next 1 ready for coninue to kill and when u aim your eye not look anywhere else until that wild hog completly NOT MOVE...Same things when u hunt Lions or elephants...SEMI-AUTO and go at least 2 people..If your gun Jam then Your friend right there to rescue you out from a Lion's mouth....Not kidding at all

  • @CharlieDoan You make a great point, Hogs are mean critters that wouldn't hesitate to to attack. Sometimes they will attack in groups, another excellent reason to use a larger caliber.

  • Head shot = win

  • @meisahe your not gonna kill a hog that size with a head shot buddy.. its just gonna run off.. lung is the way to go..

  • Good shock due to velocity but not enough mass in the bullet for a clean 1 shot kill.

  • nice shooting! I kill farm hogs 350lbs or more with my 17 hmr. does a awesome jog at killing them with one shot to the head. I recommend the full metal jackets though. they have crazy penetration through thick ass skulls!

  • I own 17 HMR and I love it, but this is unethical and inhumane. Hogs are notoriously hard to kill and no rimfire should ever be used on a hog. All you do is causing unnecessary pain and suffering to a living creature to whom as a hunter you owe (at least) clean and swift death. 17 HMR was designed for small animals the size of rabbit or fox.

  • @malishka31 agreed .17 HMRs are good for varmints and long range pop can shooting only. I also own a Mos 817 .17 HMR. I also own a .17 Rem... the Rem is well suited for hog hunting, so long as its a head shot.

  • @malishka31 looked to me like he got a pretty good lung shot on it.. you shoot it in the head from that far its just gonna run off ... he did a good job of laying it down.. and with the lung shot its not gonna struggle more then a couple mins..

  • @malishka31

He seemed to smoke check that one pretty well...

  • Next time try a BB Gun. You give hunters a bad name, some of us do have ethics. How would you like to be left kicking on the ground in pain? The 17 HMR is for varmint hunting, not hogs. This shit makes me wanna puke, you owe the spirit of the wild better than this. Use the correct caliber ie a rifle that will kill instantly and in a HUMANE way.

  • @nucsol I agree. Where Im from its illigal to hunt any big game animal with anything smaller than a .223 cal.

  • @harleyanna2 pig isnt a big game animal neither is a deer, elk moose bear are big game

  • @bwright009 Its all relative I guess... Sounds like you come from Alaska??? But I assure you when one of them hogs are bearing down on you, you might then reclass them as big game!

  • AZ too.Ilegal .223..

  • @nucsol hogs are varmints and a .17 is a perfect caliber if your a good enough shot, he did a good job, and if this vid makes you wanna puke then your not a hunter, watch any bow hunt on tv and tell me the deer doesnt struggle more than it had to

  • @bwright009 Hogs are food, if they are varmints it is because man introduced them and didn't manage them properly. In a world of choice I would choose to be humane and use a larger caliber bullet. My preferance for all of my kills is a Barne's Tripple Shock bullet which creates a high hydrolic pressure that kills instantly with a well placed shot.

Modern technology is there to increase accuracy and reduce suffering. It should be used and respect should be given to all animals, varmints or not.

  • @bwright009 Not the kind of hogs from Vietnam, the soldiers get surrounding from enemies inside the jungle of Vietnam and shoot with even M-16 still not bring down a 100kgs hog!! He alnost lost his life because that hog after got wound, it becomes angry and jump to him, lucky with M-72 LAW (anti-tank) save his life but NO MORE MEAT!!! That is a lesson to bring home and to all people in here want to use .22 .17 .223 to kill HOGS!

    - That is a real story!

  • good shooting boys

  • Where were you hitting these hogs at? In the head?

  • @1fast10r if you watch closely you can see the POI is in the head near the eye on both pigs

  • Wow. Great shot!! I just bought a 93r17 yesterday and didn't know they had that much knock down to them. I'm quite impressed. Which ammo do u use, if you don't mind sharing?

  • @nobull60 Hi the reson for the silencers are the sound without one iv got a CZ american .17 HMR and it sounds like an air rifle it seems silly to me why you can use one Thanks Neil

  • right behind the ear... nice shot!

  • know what i say about all this if u dont like the video or the guy using such a small calibur rifle then dont watch its pretty clear in the title that hes using a 17 so y complain about it JUST DONT WATCH and i hunt hog with a 30-06 and ive been charged multiple times ground hunting and i have no pitty for the hog bec if given a chance they will hurt u or even kill you and also one last thing when ive shot them with my 30-06 they will twitch and kick around and a 30-06 is a big bullet

  • flame exactly how many hogs have you shot. The damn things are vermin. I would just gut shoot them and let them feed the buzzards. You should thank befor speking on ethics. I thank leting people die from tanted food is far worse than the momentary suffering of over grown rats.

  • Hi just watched your video and im very impressed well done i shoot the CZ american .17 HMR a very powerfull gun as you know but in england we have to have a silencer by law anyway well done and gd luck on your next shooting trip Neil

  • @woodturning5522 we dont need silencer s? i dont have a silencer on my .22 and never told off by the police , i do have a silencer on al my supersonic round firing guns though

  • @ferretinpro why do you have a baffle on a supersonic rifle? the crack off the round as it goes through the sound barrier will make as much noise as launching it! That's why subsonic .22s are sold!

  • @ferretinpro sorry for the delay in replying , if you can't remember you were asking why ise have silencers on my supersonic rifles.

i have silencers on them as although the round still makes the supersonic crack it does take all the noise of the actual charge away, reducing the noise by around 30 decibels.secondly , it makes it much quieter behind the gun , stopping hearing problemsthirdly , i never used to use them , bbut my shooting was only mediocre , i was flinching due to the noise ofthe

  • shot , after getting decent silencers my shooting improved drastically as i didnt flinch or blink due to shooting.

fourthly , the added weight of the silencer makes the gun stay closer to the shooting point aiding if a follow up shot is needed

i know shooting should not be improved in theory , but in practise it has , drastically

if you don't use a silencer , borrow or buy one to test , as it has helped me a lot

  • @woodturning5522 Just curious about this silencer law. What is reason behind the law? WOuld you be able to explain it to me? I would love to hunt with a silencer but, silencers are forbidden by law here. Silencers just make sence when hunting pests or vermin.

  • Im ready to kill pigs with my New HMR, heck i hit a big hog once with my 30-30 right in the left shoulder and he ran off, So its all about shot placement and penetration

  • what do you meen by penetration its just where abouts you shoot it

  • How deep the bullet will go in, Is what i meant about penetration.

  • Thats good stuff a 17 HMR I have one to I use a 308 or a 7MM. great vid.

    keep it up

  • Wow!! Nice shot!! I would've never thought you could get that done with a .17!! Great shot!!

    Stay after em!!

    5*s!

  • how do u get tere from miami

  • i like it ive got a 17hmr savage with the bull barrel i love been trying to find a pig here in oregon to shoot with it makes me feel better that it can be done with one right on nice shooting

  • yeah..... nice shooting on the second one.... lol

I would never use a cartridge that small for hogs, minimum .243 winchester, at least then I can shoot for a bigger target, the heart and lungs.

  • @flamedrag18 Man you must be Bi Polar or something? If you think it's savage to shoot a hog with a .17HMR then why did you say, "yeah....nice shooting...lol" two weeks ago!

I just called my buddy for more details and he said he dropped the 300lb in it's tracks. He did agree with you in a way though...sort of. He said if your not a good shoot or don't know exactly where the heart is he said even a .243 may not be enough! Oh, and "Savage" is the damage they do to my property

  • it's called sarcasm you idiot, jeez, I think I made it pretty obvious.

  • You missed the second one but popped the first one, I see you hit him in the head.

  • nice shooting buddy!!!!

  • and the second one is on the testicle?? it can runs like nothing hit him... ,223 (M-16) which is 50/50 change to kil hogs in Vietnam.Better kil with 7.62x39 (AK-47 round)

.17 may be with something thin skin and not 4-5 inches fat like hog!!!

.17 maybe good for dog,fox,goose....Not for hog if you miss hog can come to you like big 18 Wheel run little pick up F-150 very bloody nasty game

  • where did you hit it?

    behind the ear?

  • yup, that's where to aim with such a small cartridge, but I personally wouldn't use anything smaller then a .243 winchester.

  • @flamedrag18 Where exactly did the bullet hit? Was it directly below the ear? Or to the right? The pigs are destroying my yard! I can fire my .17 Savage from as close as 10-15 yds, but I want to fire at the most effective spot. A buddy took down a 300lb hog and said the heart looked like jelly but if a head/neck shot is better I'd prefer that. Thanks

  • I don't advise anything smaller then a .243 winchester, so I'm not going to tell you where to shoot a pig with a sub standard caliber.

I'm not going to support this savagery.

  • naa i have brought down about 12 pigs with my 22 maguiam winchester its just all about where you shoot them when my dad was a kid all he used was a 22maguian an 22 its does the job an it was nervis thats why it was shaking it was dead staight away

  • I don't care if he did a good shot hear, he still shouldn't be using such a small caliber on hogs, it's unjustified.

  • not really like it still done the job least he didnt take a pot shot an shot it any where else he shot it in the head and it died with out a fight i have one of those guns i only use it on birds an kangoos head shoots yeah but it is a bit small for pigs i use my 303 or 243 most of the time

  • so why are you arguing the point of using a smaller caliber when you actually use bigger calibers? kinda counter intuitive ain't it?

I'm not saying he did a bad shot here, but personally, what's the point for using such a small caliber, even a .22 magnum, and leave even that slight chance of a bad shot, you really can't tell me that it's not possibler to make a mistake with a smaller caliber, cause I've seen it happen, it's not pretty.

  • also, if you look at his other video ".17 HMR Hog Double Kill", you'll see that this guy has 0 morals for hunting hogs, watch what happens to the first hog he shoots after he shoots the second one, completely obvious that it's not dead, dead hogs don't run.

  • mmmm i dont know it looket dead but when it shot the other one it did run but i have shot a 80kg boar in the head with my 223 an its nervis where pritty crazy it an about 2 metres then started shaking who cares any ways he killed them both an they were good shots
