-or his hand is weak and he's trying to bluff.

I don't think Ivey considered him checking with a really powerful hand -- And it's hard to consider something like that.

The reason why Pros win most of cash games and tournaments is because they are bankrolled by FTP and PS and so therefore they are able to enter almost every tournament thus increasing their chance of winning compared to the rest of us.

Poker is a lottery where you can control maybe 30% of your outcome.

actually phil ivey has won a number of bracelets in small poker games such as 2 to 7 etc where the fields are not that high. and ivey has been playing the wsop since 2000 so of course playing every event for the past 9 years he is bound to win.

ivey does not play in every WSOP event. he has said in interviews that he does get tired of playing in tournaments and would rather play in cash games. he only plays in the tournaments to win a bracelet because of all the side bets he has with his peers. after he wins his bracelet bets, ivey usually relaxes and stops playing unless he has another bracelet bet. i believe that currently ivey only plays in the WSOP and the WSOPE and nothing else.

WHY THE HELL DOES EVERYONE HATE GAVIN SMITH?!

Seriously, this Poker After Dark was the only time I have ever seen him be an "annoying drunk fuck", and partially because I believe this took place around his birthday. Even saying... in this video and the rest of the PAD episode, he shows nothing but respect to the good moves everybody else makes, and he does that on a regular basis without the alcohol. He's a great player with some of the best poker instincts in the world and underrated too.
