whats better golden or silver shovel

I personally prefer the silver shovel, you can sometimes get extra bells from using it to strike a bell rock. The gold shovel has the small chance of planting a bell tree if you bury a bag of bells.

No, you only get furniture from him by finding him and talking to him. You have to change your headgear or accessory every time if you want to get more than one item.
