Hmm, sorry you couldn't find them. I'm surprised. I remember that it was kind of hard to find them in the store we went to but they were there. Maybe, for whatever reason, your local Michael's doesn't carry them.
a great place to get feathers is michaels art store. the perfect ink, in my humble opinion, is walnut. you can purchase walnut crystals for dirt cheap. i got an ounce for $3. i use 1/4 tsp for every liquid oz of water. so that ounce of crystals will make *lots* of ink. it has a beautiful sepia color. one thing you have to remember is after you dip your pen, you have to hold the bottom of the nib against the ink well edge until the major portion of the ink flows out. otherwise you get splotches.
I used guage as ink. It WORKED!!!!!!!!!!! And of you don't know, guage is a kind of paint. I used black of course, but it didn't work out so well, since I couldn't use the quill so well itself
Tell me about it! I got some ink on my hands and looked like a freak for almost a week. Next time I will draw something cool so it will be like a tattoo.
Sorry to hear that your niece stained her wedding dress. Although I think most people would agree that the staining properties of black ink are universally known through time and across cultures, the host of the video clearly warns viewers that ink stains. You can find the warning at three minutes, five seconds into the video (3:05).
Think of it this way, every time your niece looks at her wedding dress, she'll remember you were at her wedding.
@brandonsh73 I heard that if you soak the stain in milk for a little while then rub the stain.... still in the milk. The ink should almost all come off..... you only have to wash the garment with soap & water and the rest "should" come out in the wash. Never had to do it but that's what the "old folks" claim. Good luck.
Perfect! Me and my 2 BFFs are going to write an oath and this will make it great. Can we use paint or something instead of ink so it will look like blood?
@lacyob -- Paint won't work so well but you can get red ink. They sell it at Michael's and other craft stores. Just go to the calligraphy section of the store. Don't use real blood! :-)
OMG If you look carefully at this you can see the cameraman in a mirror. It's Alex O'Loughlin. I'm sure of it. It sounds like the girl in the video has an accent and Alex is from Astralia. I loves me some Alex!
Hehe. Very nice. Well done, gang!

@cheese7347 We got our feathers at Michael's Arts and Crafts store. Most arts and crafts stores will have them.

I think that's Cheryl Ladd in the video. Playing the part of the old lady writing a letter. Can I get her number?

I think you can also buy water soluble ink which would be easier to wash off your hands and other items. Look for it at your hobby store.

Warning! That ink stains!
My niece was using a pen I made to sign her wedding license and splattered ink on her wedding dress. The dress is ruined!
You should have put a warning on this video!
