dam this is what i need i have to be a red neck and tie a rope to both limbs wrap the rope aroud a pole and attach it to my truck and pull forward just to get it in stringing place lol
I just bought a used recurve bow and i noticed that the limbs were warped a little and the string doesnt rest on bow properly do you know how to straighten it back to the way its supposed to be? Thanks.
@BoyznGirlz09 You can do a search here on Youtube for "straighten recurve" and should find some useful videos. You can also try contacting Prairie Traditions Bow Hospital. Youtube doesn't allow links in comments, so do a google search for them.

Would this stringer be able to be used on a 50# turkish recurve bow? I reasently bought one and I'm afraid that the step through method may damage it.
thanks 3rivers, i had always strung my bow the old fashioned way, when i got my new bow in the mail it came with this fancy bow stringer and i was stuck scratching my head, thanx much for the vid
I just used my 3rivers bow stringer to string my 95 lb longbow -- or tried to. An inch or so from getting the bowstring in place, my handy-dandy stringer slipped off the bow tip, and I was struck in the face hard enough to blacken an eye and nearly break my jaw.
Am I happy with my stringer? Not so much. I'm going back to the hip thrust method I've used for years without a single mishap prior to buying this device that was supposed to make stringing my bow safer.
@Llyranon We're sorry to hear about this. However, in our catalog and on our web site we do tell customers not to use these stringers on bows over 70 (80) lbs.
Thanks for the response. I hadn't noticed the weight restriction on the stringer. However, I don't think the weight of the bow was the culprit -- the stringer didn't break. Instead, because the bow is a straight longbow, the closer to strung it got, the less purchase the bow tips offered to the leather cups of the stringer. A reflexed bow wouldn't have the same problem.
I try to look away from the bow as I string it in case the stringer slips off the limb, sliding the string into the groove by feel (which is why I prefer the two pocket type of stringer). After stringing the bow, I turn it over (string side up) to see that the string is securely in the grooves on both limbs.
never herd of a bow stringer is this needed for older recurves i string mine by puting a foot inside and one outside and then push the 2 ends togethr then slide the string on
Absolutely! Many older recurves come into our shop with twisted limbs from being strung with the old "step-through" method. We recommend you always use a bowstringer when stringing any bow. It's better for the bow and more safe for the archer.
Thanks!

This stringer will work for a 68" longbow right? I want to order one!
harmonioushand 1 year ago
@harmonioushand As long as the bow isn't over 80 pounds, it should work for your longbow.

@DakotaAngelRain We wouldn't recommend it. We suggest searching youtube for videos on how to specifically string your style of recurve bow.

Other than possibly hunting in Africa, what would anyone want with a 95# longbow. Those things are great ways to hurt your shoulders.

@Llyranon All of their literature says not to use the stringer on a bow over 80#s. GG reading!

I would like to see this stringer used on a longbow with no preflex/deflex/reflex
(You know... one that looks like a stick).

You are pretty much stupid if you dont use a stringer. you will ruin your bow.
lnglveledzeppelin 4 years ago 2
it is safer and you can ruin your bow without one especially high poundage long bows
