I feel bad because I REALLY hated the main story. Characters rocked, sans a few of them that felt like they were clumsy stereotypes or cliches. But the main story didn't really go anywhere. No good twists, it was way too straightforward, and the collectors were far inferior to Saren.
You can really tell that Joe didn;t even finish the game before reviewing it. First off he didn't even know about being able to specialize in another weapon which is about halfway through the game. And if you watch his video on the top 10 games of 2010, Joe is all over ME2 and had it in 2nd place.
You can use Assault Rifles on any class, eventually, if you so choose.
You can control your party member placement.
Charge is amazing. But I suppose that's an opinion from both of us (though, I will enforce the fact that being able to Charge through cover is very useful).

Apparently there will be more mass effect after number 3 but it wont be with commander Shepard and mass effect 3 will have co op multi player but in the co op mode you wont be restricted on being only human you can pick many of the other races
@Warhamer116 They've made books and comics, only the games focus on Shep's (your) decisions. Who's to say they can't, say, focus on Anderson pre-Reaper controversy? (They have a book for that, actually.)

@Warhamer116 Yes i agree Mass Effect is about creating your own Shepard but the overall personality of Shepard is a hardbitten soldier who stops at nothing to achieve his goal. That should be fairly easy for a highly experienced actor to replicate.

Game developers/publishers receive zero revenue from used game sales. The revenue goes straight to the stores that sold the said used games. They lose more money to used game sales than to piracy. Look it up.
That said, your comment on the Cerberus Network is ignorant. A person who buys a used game indeed did not support the particular developer/publisher to begin with. Thus it isn't -and can not- be considered as a"direct stab at gamers who buy their game used." If you like a game, support it.

Also, usually when you tell a teammate to use an ability and they "don't," it's because there's a fucking wall in front of them and their ability hits the wall. Fucking... retards. Not only that, but in ME2 it seems that their AI still has the overheating weapons from ME1, because they only shoot in bursts, even when there's a mid-boss RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM HOLY SHoh they died.

@MrGabsloko On the questionable AI, I will agree that Mechs and such can easily be fooled by putting a wall between them and you. They'll just keep firing in into it forever and only slowly come around, and you can move faster. Which makes it a weird cat and mouse waiting game that makes you feel like the mech is too dumb. I'd have liked less armor on those guys and more intense pursuit on them. Makes Insanity level more fun.
I'm surprised you thought so highly of this game, Joe, because I think it's an easy decision to think that Mass Effect 1 is far superior. I thought you loved LOOT, and the reason I say this is because there is NO loot in Mass Effect 2. No longer do you search containers for goodies after clearing a room of hostiles, no longer do you sift through your findings after a successful mission and equip what you want and sell the rest for credits. Even the shops in Mass Effect 2 barely have anything.
Angry Joe, you're my favorite reviewer, but you definitely have a bias in Bioware's favor. I too like bioware (a bit stronger for old work), and on a good day maybe I could give this a 9/10, but Dragon Age was less deserving and it got the same thing. If you believe what you did when you reviewed Halo: Reach, you wouldn't hand out Bioware pats on the back like this.

@DerOrk You're damn right. Longer story, bring back the old RPG elements and basically bring back planets that you could visit before. (Noveria, Feros, etc) Also have past choices play larger roles. joe thats not true about the assualt Rifle thing when your a soildier you start with one but if your an vanguard or anything like that you have to earn one later on in the game but good review by the way.
I Agree with you on everything the Game would of been a 10/10 if it had Online Co-op but hey it's a RPG and it's solid for being Single Player only but the fact that we didn't had any Spaceship battles or the chance to explorer planet's more clearly like in ME1 was dissapointing, none the less the Game is amazing.

Bioware just didn't add you controlling the Normandy against pirate raids, shooting like Space Invaders, because they're gonna add this thing in ME3, it'll be cooler man...
And a CO-OP doesn't work for Mass Effect because the story is about Shepard, unless they create ins ME3 another main character, which i doubt is gonna have the same charisma that Shepard does. And questionable A. I.? Only on your Playtrough man, because i finished ME2 +6 times and i didn't seen anything like that.

@MrGabsloko On the questionable AI, I will agree that Mechs and such can easily be fooled by putting a wall between them and you. They'll just keep firing in into it forever and only slowly come around, and you can move faster. Which makes it a weird cat and mouse waiting game that makes you feel like the mech is too dumb. I'd have liked less armor on those guys and more intense pursuit on them. Makes Insanity level more fun.

I'm surprised you thought so highly of this game, Joe, because I think it's an easy decision to think that Mass Effect 1 is far superior. I thought you loved LOOT, and the reason I say this is because there is NO loot in Mass Effect 2. No longer do you search containers for goodies after clearing a room of hostiles, no longer do you sift through your findings after a successful mission and equip what you want and sell the rest for credits. Even the shops in Mass Effect 2 barely have anything.

Angry Joe, you're my favorite reviewer, but you definitely have a bias in Bioware's favor. I too like bioware (a bit stronger for old work), and on a good day maybe I could give this a 9/10, but Dragon Age was less deserving and it got the same thing. If you believe what you did when you reviewed Halo: Reach, you wouldn't hand out Bioware pats on the back like this.

Does he know that on the Collector ship mission if you aren't a soldier you can get assault rifle training and then maybe start the game again with that character after you beat it to use assault rifles the whole way through?

@DerOrk You're damn right. Longer story, bring back the old RPG elements and basically bring back planets that you could visit before. (Noveria, Feros, etc) Also have past choices play larger roles. That would be the 10/10 Mass Effect game we all desire. I just hope EA's grubby corporate hands don't try pulling any shit on the fanbase.

I Agree with you on everything the Game would of been a 10/10 if it had Online Co-op but hey it's a RPG and it's solid for being Single Player only but the fact that we didn't had any Spaceship battles or the chance to explorer planet's more clearly like in ME1 was dissapointing, none the less the Game is amazing.
