Its nine now, but im not sure if it was seven in 1.2 (don't hate me!), and also when it goes down one block, it will go another nine or seven.

@prototype564 seven, for the eight keep flow. I took me this 2 days (I have pre release 4 - 1.9). water can flow only 7 blocks ahead from where it placed, so makes a total of 8 blocks. so each level must contain, no more than 7.

Not sure what the big deal is about planting...if you want the same amount of wheat, you'd still have to til the dirt, plant, then harvest by hand. Lotta annoying, negative misfits complaining for something their feeble minds would have never created on their own. Props for sharing this concept and ill share any tips for improvements. Sometimes the wheat and seeds drop onto the block above the glass. This can be solved by putting another block on it. :D

- one piston above to block/allow water falling down in 1 empty block.

- second piston on the bottom that toggle fill/empty block mentioned above.

To harvest, turn off water, make empty block solid, turn water on and flooood!

After collecting, reset to farmmode: turn off water, make solid empty, turn water on.

@liljagsa also if your really bother you can get the light sensor mod make a red stone connection so that after enough light (or days has passed) you can get a Full automatic farm that opens and closes, also with the magic chest it is perfect (magic chest picks up items!) but i'm still stuck at replanting.

@Marc9521 someone should make a mod where if seeds land on fertilized soil it would instantly plant, another component would be to somehow make it so that using red stone repeaters and dispensers makes the dispenser fire something at higher or lower force, to land directly on the blocks you want it to. so after a couple days your crops are harvested and automatically planted again.

@liljagsa yeah you place the pistons at the middle of the thing u planted like sugar cane has 3 layers you place pistons at the middle then connect with redstone and let the redstone end with a lever in your house then when you pull the lever the pistons push the middle layer (so yeah, also the upper layer) and then with streams you let it flow to your house and you dont need to replant anything cuz you just pushed the middle and the upper layer ^^
