  • What a great record this is.

  • @lordkoos Just makes you wanna get drunk and party.

  • ILL TELL YOU ONE ABOUT NOOKIE BOY .HE USE TO DELIVER GROCERIES FOR PAPPS FOOD STORE ON ST CLAUDE AVE ON A BICYCLE.AND HE WOULD STOP AND HE WOULD SING FOR US.OLIVER WAS A FIRST CLASS DUDE BACK THEN EVEN WHEN WHITE AND BLACKS DIDN'T GET ALONG.LATER ON WHEN HE WOULD PERFORM I WOULD GO TO THE BANDSTAND AND AFTER HE FINISHED HE WOULD ALWAYS SHAKE HANDS AND HE ALWAYS CALLED ME HOME BOY.

  • You've completely introduced me to Oliver Morgan and I thank you so!

  • @salsburysteakjr I only wish he had recorded more. He (nor anyone) could top this song and the way he did it. BTW, one of those writers on the label (Bocage) is Eddie Bo.

  • Heroin shot the La-La.

  • Hey you guys don't seem to know who shot Queen Lala. Jan Ramsey's "Offbeat mag" has the enitre story.......I have the article......

  • he told me about 1999 who was the Lala ,who shot him and why. And he told me this information cause i had a horse for him. He played the ponies and he said watcha got brother-nlaw so I told him bout the horse. the horse won. nookie boy got paid and he bought me a beer and told me abut the song.

  • @LJH70122 Thanks for the great story! Nothing better then a well kept secret to pull out when you need a winner at the Fairgrounds. Did he ever tell you why he released a song "I'll Make A Bet" under the name "Nookie Boy" and should I ask where he got dat name from?????

  • 50 years later we still don't know who did it. And now, with Oliver no longer among us, we'll never know who shot the LaLa. He was my intro to New Orleans music when I moved here in '81. He led people into the street in a 2nd line and back into the hall. What a great time that was! I've got a B&W picture of me and him and my ex-wife from the 1984 Krewe of Centurions Ball. He only had this one minor hit but he sure made a career of it. God bless him. Dean Shapiro

  • @deanslist101 Truly a great memory for you. "Who Shot The Lala" is just the perfect song to represent New Orleans during the time when Frankie Avalon and Fabian were being heard everywhere else in the country. Thanks for the props and hopefully one or more of his family members will see this. Many kids and grand kids of these guys have contacted me.

  • i know him from superbowl 44

  • @ePhilosopher9 He died in 2007 so I guess I'm missin' the connect....which for me is the norm sometimes....ok, a lot of times.

  • A great record!

  • @phillydog17 Sorry for not seeing your comment. Sometimes You tube doesn't let me know who said what or when. Glad you enjoyed!

  • You know you got da funkinest NOLA oasis on da intra net.

  • @newmoonmasker Nothing to it. Look at dat material I have to work with. I was just lucky to be around when all this was happening.

  • Truly a very hummle, hard-working gentleman. He love to perform for people. I saw him after his stroke performing in a neighborhood bar. He hitched a ride there, tried to sing (had a difficult time), danced around the room and collected his $75.00 and went home. If that ain't love, what is?? God Bless O.M>!!! Miss him soo much!!

  • @imnotaknowitall Well, for anyone who watches Treme and sees your story, then everyone will understand our love for our musicians and how proud we are of them. Most were not treated fairly but they are heroes and royalty to us and we respect them as such! Thank you for sharing your special moment.

  • A short story about OLIVER MORGAN .One night at the MASQUE LOUNGE on the CHEF HWY.He was doing WHO SHOT THE LA LA in the lounge with a umbrella and formed a second line .He then danced all the people out into the parking lot and onto the CHEF HWY .Stopping traffic then danced the people back into the lounge. He always put on a great show .R I P LA LA MAN

  • @hotrod3able What a great story. Thanks for sharing.

  • How the heck did I miss this post??? Damn, ya gotta love it!!! Thank you!!! :-))

  • Itsa Nawlens classic!

  • What a genuine, soulful human! The one and only Mr. Oliver Morgan! God love him! He was a true artist and is greatly missed. RIP my friend.

  • I don't even want to begin to think of what we have lost down here in the last 10 years. It reads like a "Who's Who".

  • 9th ward: It is people like you who keep the flame alive! I don't know you or what you do for a living, but you have obviously dedicated yiour life's work to the preservation of the New Orleans Sound- Rhythm and Blues (NOT Rock N' Roll!)

Thank you for uploading your music. I have most of these on 45rpm but happy to transfer them to my iphone! Technology has consumed vinyl.(good or bad??) Keep up the good works, friend.

  • Me (and so many others) do this for people like you because there is absolutely not one red penny in it for us and if it wasn't for you, me (and those others) wouldn't waste our time. It's about sharing our love for an art form, one that tickles our senses of the "perception" of what we call the "good old days". As for the "loss" of vinyl, I went "kicking and screaming" and I am as unsure today if that loss was good or bad just as much as I'm unsure as to how "good" those days really were. TY
