If that notebook showed up on ebay, I'd bid some real money to get it. Must be a real jewel, from the best basketball announcer (OK, along with Chick Hearn) I've ever heard.
It's like he's reading a fairytale. Didn't they have cue-cards in the mid-70s? I recall Bill King interviewing two young pitchers for the Athletics, one was Curt Young, on the field and all of a sudden he started ridiculing them as nobodies. What a crotchety old fart he was and I'm glad he's dead.
this is a guy who called all three raiders superbowl championships, the warriors 1975 championship and the a's title in 1989 a great broadcaster who was so lucky and fortunate to be apart of those teams
Damn those Warriors. Even after all these years I say it. Damn those Warriors and that Bulls traitor Clifford Ray. I was at game six in the stadium on Mother's Day when Rick Barry went nuts and killed our only chance with a great team to go to the finals.
Yeah, so when are you going to have a professional team back in Boston? Sad when you play the last half of 2006-07 hoping to get a few more ping-pong balls.
Bill Russel, Sam Jones & John Havlichek must very proud. I know Don Nelson is at least proud of his current team.
Holy Toledo! There must be a lid on that basket! The Warriors cannot buy a basket!
-Bill King
What memories. The Warriors shocked the world that year. As a kid I used to shoot free throws Rick Berry Style and developed a huge arc to my shot shooting Keith "Jamal" Wilkes style. George Johnson, Clifford Ray, Coach Al Attles ... Phil Smith ... What a Team!
What memories!! I was at game 7 in Oakland and my ears are still ringing. That Chicago series was my earliest Warrior memory and I have been a die hard ever since. Great to see the late great Bill King in this clip. A true Bay Area broadcasting legend. Thanks for the clip anxen03!!!!!
i hope we get one of these in my life time

He changed it later to Jamaal.
This was the greatest.
Charles Johnson shut down Van Lear.
Un-sung key.
