@Qwerti60 No man, it is not Gypsy song, it is shared Greek and Turkish folk song which has been sung for years in both Greece and Turkish language. In the video it is Turkish. Konia is a city in central Turkey, which Greek and Turkish people used to live, nowadays there are only turkish people.

I love this song! My grandparents were Greek from Smyrna, and I remember them singing this song to us! Love the kanoun! Remember that the Greek refugees from Turkey, especially Smyrna (Izmir) brought not only their delicious cuisine, but their beautiful music. Even the bouzouki originated in Smyrna and at the time of Metaxas, it was outlawed in Greece. Later, the Greek music brought by the nearly 2 million refugees became the most popular in todays' Greece!

i dont give a fuck if he is from Greece or from Turkey.I dont care if he believes in Allah or Jesus or Batman himself. The song is great and the singer is the best!!!
@SuperNick73 this song belongs to the refugees who were expelled from Asia Minor to Greece after the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the song they danced at weddings.
This is great! Please correct the title and tags for this video. I would include the name of the player, and the tags should be something like "kanun kanonaki κανονάκι konyali konyalı koniali" to cover Greek and Turkish spellings. (There is no "c" in Greek, and in Turkish "c" = English "j".)

Yes, it seems like he knew turkish very well but he forgot or didnt use it for a long time because he can pronounce turkish special letters correctly but with quite bad accent at the same time.
yes they became refugees not because they were greeks but because they were christians and if u were christian in turkey with the exception of armenians u were
branded as a greek and if u were a muslim living in greece u were branded turkish
and it was done with the blessings of 1920s super powers blessing
many of them didnt even speak greek (the christians from turkey) and many muslims from greece didnt speak turkish as a mother tongue
Furthermore, most of the citizens in the ottoman empire spoke turkish along with their mother tongue. The reason that many greek people in the ottoman empire spoke only turkish as their mother tongue is a result of inhuman pressure. My great grandmother spoke turkish as her mother tongue and she remembered the stories her grandmother told her about the terror that they went through in order to stop speaking greek.
@elvira2674 ok, my comment was a bit harsh. Sorry for that, i get carried away like anyt ohter normal human-being. I know what you're saying, but the funny part off it, is that today's inhabitants of Konya are kurds, even though it is a old turkish capitol. No, go figure, respect to you and your family, no matter what ethnicity.
@Tarikatlar Dear Tarikatlar it was islam (the Koran and the islamic law) that introduced the millet system.
Turkish nationalism in the begining tried to create a notion of a citizen of the Ottoman Empire and turn this old obsolete empire into a modern state. Since this was not possible after years and years of state enforced muslim superority, they turned towards the evil idea of exterminating all other religious groups, which where considered as a threat to the unity of the state.
where in the quran it mentions about the millet system? enforced muslim superiority , millet system and the quran are 3 different things. so pls do not misinform.
@nurlhaq The Sharia law my dear friend. Christians, Jews and a few others where considered just acceptable because they were "people of the book" nevertheless, still singificantly inferior.
Look, dear friend, there are no evidence that turkish people ever formed a christian community into eastern Thrace.
The mere fact that they remained christians in the ottoman empire, although becoming a muslim had great advantages in the millet system, speaks for itself.
@elvira2674 I prefer Islam, and what you say about millet-system and so on, prooves my point in other circles, where they claim the muslims was bad, it was not Islam or muslims who were bad, but the turkish nationalism, which came with ataturk and so on... May the balkans have peace, and let people free themselves from steroetypes and other nonsense. Sorry for my poor english, i get carried away.

Çok güzel söylemiş gerçekten.
Ama bu Türkü bir erkeğin ağzında biraz garip oluyor. Hele de ilk satırlar;
"Konya'lı dan başkasına bastırmam" :)
Ama yorum bence şahane

Yes, it seems like he knew turkish very well but he forgot or didnt use it for a long time because he can pronounce turkish special letters correctly but with quite bad accent at the same time.

This guy actually comes from a refugee family from Eastern Thace and the reason that they became refugees was exactly the fact that they were greek.
elvira2674 2 years ago
elvira2674
yes they became refugees not because they were greeks but because they were christians and if u were christian in turkey with the exception of armenians u were
branded as a greek and if u were a muslim living in greece u were branded turkish
and it was done with the blessings of 1920s super powers blessing
many of them didnt even speak greek (the christians from turkey) and many muslims from greece didnt speak turkish as a mother tongue

@em1dem i know, they speaked bulgarian or albanian mostly, but turks and greeks are both nationalistic nazis, governments

Tarikatlar 2 years ago
@Tarikatlar Dear Tarikatlar it was islam (the Koran and the islamic law) that introduced the millet system.
Turkish nationalism in the begining tried to create a notion of a citizen of the Ottoman Empire and turn this old obsolete empire into a modern state. Since this was not possible after years and years of state enforced muslim superority, they turned towards the evil idea of exterminating all other religious groups, which where considered as a threat to the unity of the state.
elvira2674 1 year ago
@elvira2674
where in the quran it mentions about the millet system? enforced muslim superiority , millet system and the quran are 3 different things. so pls do not misinform.
nurlhaq 1 year ago
@nurlhaq The Sharia law my dear friend. Christians, Jews and a few others where considered just acceptable because they were "people of the book" nevertheless, still singificantly inferior.
elvira2674 1 year ago
Look, dear friend, there are no evidence that turkish people ever formed a christian community into eastern Thrace.
The mere fact that they remained christians in the ottoman empire, although becoming a muslim had great advantages in the millet system, speaks for itself.
elvira2674 2 years ago
@elvira2674 I prefer Islam, and what you say about millet-system and so on, prooves my point in other circles, where they claim the muslims was bad, it was not Islam or muslims who were bad, but the turkish nationalism, which came with ataturk and so on... May the balkans have peace, and let people free themselves from steroetypes and other nonsense. Sorry for my poor english, i get carried away.
