  • That's some good shiz ! ;)

  • Insanely awsome!

I know it's probabbly asking too much, but can you provide the chamber hole pattern?

The way you made the flame work ONLY inside that tiny hole is just... fabulous!

  • Now that's one of the coolest engine videos I've ever seen!

  • the sound it makes is cool

  • i think it a fake lol

  • What are you using for fuel? That is awesome.

  • Looks like a live feed from hell .

  • I saw a few months ago, a combustion chamber off a turboprop being fed with compressed air, and parrafin. I cant fing it now, any ideas anyone?

  • what was the rpm of this turbine?

  • So what happens if u put your hand in there?

  • @thecartel360 it will burn...

  • Thats the "one way road to HELL" !!!

  • Well done!

  • My god.... did you design this thing all by yourself. To control the flame not touching the wall of combustion chamber is difficult. Any literature recommendation?

  • @MrBS4

yes, I designed the whole engine myself. I can't really recommend any literature. I mainly found the right design through trial and error (lots of it) before finding the right hole pattern in the flame tube.

  • @turbinebuilder

Oh dear.... I guess that is all I can said for the dearly quest to design a functional homebuilt gas turbine engine. Thanks for the info anyway. :)

  • i like the dancing devil

  • so thats what hell looks like.

  • like a washing machine from hell!!!

  • with all the air it is amazing that they stay lit

  • it's compressed air, thats why it can stay lit

  • Awsome vid. How did you film that ???

  • @gummess

I cut in a small port on the cool side of the the combustor. I then welded on a small flange that I could attach a 3/4" piece of pyrex glass. The pyrex is capable of high temps and pressures. I then stationed a camera just on the other side of the glass looking into the combustion chamber, from top down, as I started the engine.

  • @turbinebuilder Respect.... :-)

  • when i look from the back into my engine it also has yellow/orange flames , but shouldnt they be blue? also the smell isnt exactly what it should be.thnx

  • i think they arent blue because they might not have enough oxygen to burn as well inside until it reachs outside. im not a scientist just guessing here

  • Cool.

    So it's a converted turbocharger right ?

You should show an orientation shot to give us a clue what we're seeing and where.

  • awesome vid

  • Seriously though, this is cool as hell.

  • 0:47 Sounds like the Kettle boiling. TEA TIME!

  • how did you fix an opening into the chamber? did you use glass to protect? How much heat can the glass take?

  • Almost sounds like a Pulse Jet at 0:31 :D

  • wow, thats like staring through a crack into hell......

  • this is almost scary...

    gr8!!!!

  • f...ing impressive!!!

  • Inferno!!!

  • LMFAO!!!!!

  • Mommyy!!!

  • sounds like a teapot xD

  • is this how you blow dry your hair

  • genius

  • wow homebuilt ???

What's the specs on the engine ?

Thanks for sharing this video, I was just wondering how what the flame would look like, looks like running lean helps keep the flame away from the core slightly.

  • lol fly safe.

  • sweet

  • What kind of engine? Very interesting!

  • wow you could cook food so fast with what.

  • lol

  • dont you have a flame tube with holes in it?

  • Absolutely beautiful! That's so awesome. How did you get that footage?

  • The video was taken with a standard DV camera place on the other side of a pyrex glass window that I installed on the combustion chamber. Video is taken on the top of the chamber just behind the fuel nozzle.

  • what is the temperature in there?

  • about 1300°C in turbine first stage, if film cooled

  • it basicly a tornado of fire that swirles around vary fast in each chamber

  • so thats what it looks like you can see the flame swirling.

    pretty cool
