  • Beautiful ! Fantastic !! What's the temperament that you used ?? Bye !

  • thank you, I think meantone, is long time ago...

  • belo!!!!

  • Wow!

Great performance! Extremely fluid and realizing successfully his Avvertimenti.

  • Thanks, (I have read his avvertimenti indeed)

  • Always a pleasure to hear you play!

  • Yes....Bravo....this is a short but excellent masterwork.... and well played....thank you for this.....

  • Thank you!

  • It is interesting how Frescobaldi exploits the unequal temperaments of his day. I play this piece in 1/4 comma meantone set to B-- its truly haunting and send shivers down my spine.

  • this is really excelent ! I mean the piece and your interpretation !

  • Nice to let me know this!

  • Prachtig gespeeld, mooi klavecimbel ook.

  • Dank je wel!

  • that was absolutely fantastic Ernest!

    bravo

    Vicente

  • Hi Vicente, did you get the Ortiz?

  • yes i look it after watching this wonderful video..

many thanks, and also the accom. for the harp...very helpful

    thanks.

    Vicente

  • Wonderful interpretation. It makes me think it's a shame Monteverdi didn't write any keyboard music, or any other instrumental music for that matter.

I also love your instrument--I have always wanted to own this type of small early Italian harpsichord. I would never need to own another. As far as you know, how much might one of these cost in the United States?

  • Thanks! Although Monteverdi was a gambist, He was more a singer than an instrumentalist I think. The prizes of used instruments are not that high (if they are not antique).

  • Upon hearing Frescobaldi keyboard music you are suddenly filled regret that Monteverdi (supposedly) wrote no keyboard music? LOL

  • your playing of frescobaldi is exelent!colin tirney has nothing on you!

  • Thanks, nice comment!

  • Fnersh - very true - most were strung 1x8 or at most 2x8. A 4' was almost unheared of, and as for more than one manual - forget it!!

  • And - Merci, GRAZI, Tusen Takk, Thank you! How is said in The Netherlands? - Penny

  • just: dank je (wel). Takk!

  • This cembalo (Italian Harpsichord) is so

Beautiful. Muchas gracias to You! - Penny

  • Grateful to you for sharing these musical gems.

  • Looks like a Zuckermann Neopolitan Harpsichord to me. What is it strung in?

  • actually it is Bédard, but built by a Dutch harpsichord builder, with some alterations. It is strung in brass.

  • A classic Frescobaldi toccata, indeed. I find his music amongst the most interesting I've ever heard. It never gets boring for me. Great interpretation.

  • thanks! I find Frescobaldi very intriguing too. Tomorrow I will play the cento partite in a recital.

  • The Cento Partite Sopra Passacagli?! If so, I really hope you record it. Otherwise, I still hope you record it. :)

  • This instrument has a great sound but is expanded to accommodate later music. Italians were very conservative in their construction practices.

  • cn you say me which type this cembalo is ?

  • Italian harpsichord, after Boni 1610

  • Bravo!, exelentisima tu interpretación, bravo!

  • muchas gracias!

  • Masterful playing. Where can I find the sheet music? Thank you!

  • thanks, I use the old Bärenreiter edition, but some of frescobaldi's work can be found on werner icking's website.

  • Eccellenti Affetti!

  • grazie!

  • Excellent.

  • This is not only the best keyboard playing I've heard you do...I simply prefer it to all of the other Frescobaldi I've heard on harpsichord...which has been substantial and always somewhat disappointing at best.

The phrasing is very arresting and expressive, with the Cembalo glistening luminescently in support of you.BRAVO!

  • Hallo Smith, das ist schon lange her, dass ich etwas von Ihnen vernommen habe. Das ist eine liebe Rezension, vielen Dank!

  • aah...the famous sonority of the Bedards harpsichord! Thank you

  • Very nice interpretation, your fingers and hands move so calm and organized. I think there was a bit too much echo, but that's just a matter of tastes. Nice instrument.

  • thank you very much; I'm really glad with this instrument

  • Really great!!!
