@cookstonkerry1 As far as I know now they are used to loosen the ground where the machines drive all year long so that the ground doesnt get too hard and can "breathe" again.

A subsoiler helps break up compacted soil and also allows air and water to into the soil

@KnorpelDelux I think to help let water get into the ground and not run off like if ur field is on a hill
