  • trespasser is fun to play around with but you got to admit- the game sucks.

  • Tresspasser SUCKED! I've read the reviews back then and tested the demo! Couldn't even aim correctly with all that weird, and unnatural arm movements!

  • Well, actually you all don't know it yet, but you all are part of a video game called "Humans of Earth" and it's running on my computer! =P

  • LOL

  • next gen games was in 1998!!!! )))

    TRESPASSER geniusly game ever!!!!!

  • i really wish they would make a second trespasser.

  • they started building the game and this physics engine in 1996. .lets give them some credit. . shall we?? <3

  • Now of we could just scale this sort of thing properly and play with 200 times the junk with 200 times the processing power.

  • Honestly the graphics were almost as good as Halo 1, and it came out 4 years earlier, the game would be equivalant to FarCry 72

  • A beautiful game, who new it would be 15 years ahead of it's time ( and yes I mean 15) the realism, the enviroment, all so great, I hope they make another one. I'll be laughing the day I go out and kids say 'Halo 5 is so realistic you have to bend down to pick up guns"

  • Lol, yeah, that'd be funny! =D

  • @cheezburgerforcats Keep dreaming

  • @Dilo22 Yeah, but it's such a nice dream. Kinect Trespasser... that would be cool.

  • @cheezburgerforcats Meh. Crysis engine > kinect

  • @Dilo22 I don't really how you can compare the two, considering one is a gaming hardware and the other is a software. That's like trying to compare the band Bon Jovi with the movie Saving Private Ryan. I've hardly played the crysis engine, but it definitly is powerful.

  • @cheezburgerforcats It's not a comparison. Let me rephrase, fuck kinect, make it on the crysis engine.

  • @Dilo22 or use the crysis engine to put it on kinect! You can't say that isn't a good idea.

  • @cheezburgerforcats The xbox hardware can't run the Crysis engine at full power. You need a DX10 capable device.

  • @Dilo22 Alright, I still think it would be fun to use your actual arm to pick up and shoot guns and pimp slap dinosaurs, even if it isn't utilizing the crysis engine to the max. As far as I'm concerned it's the gameplay that counts, not the graphics.

  • @cheezburgerforcats Trespasser was a graphical juggernaut back in it's day, are you kidding? Most PCs couldn't even run it. Should be just as important in any remake. Why? because the biggest thing I love with Trespasser, and what the devs were probably aiming for (with the lack of hud and whatnot), was immersion/realism. So graphics are important in a game like this.

  • @Dilo22 I think it would be more immersive to actually use your real body to move and arms to pick up stuff, but maybe that's just me being stupid.

  • @cheezburgerforcats Not at the expense of graphics.

That, and I doubt Kinetic can replicate all of Trespasser's movement's precisely.

  • @Dilo22 *Kinect, and it can.Trespasser has simple movements. It can't however copy the ridiculous twists of the arm and hand. The graphics would still look good too, have you seen Halo Reach and Crysis 2? I realize that the graphics would be better on the PC (that goes without saying), but the gameplay would be so much more realistic and immersive on Kinect. I can't believe I'm taking part in a arguement as stupid as this.

  • @cheezburgerforcats easy compromise, release official kinect drivers along with remake

  • @SteveQueenMc Wow, this conversation is still kicking it? Good idea too, that way PC people can be happy while people who use Kinect can enjoy it too.

On another note, recently they announced Halo 4 and 5 and 6, so I'm hoping where they make it so you can pick up the guns like trespasser, just so I can say "I called that 5 years ago".

  • i love this game i wish there is a trespasser 2 on crysis engine :(

  • @rtv05 NO, NOT ON CRYSIS. Crysis is a bullsh*t. :S

  • @SylverRaptor crysis 2007 is the best graphics ever

  • This game was so ahead of its time.

I still remember playing it on my pentium 2 and being wowed by the physics engine alone.

  • hey theguymjp i loved trespasser and i'm gonna reinstall it one of these days, can i ask you why it wasn't a success?

  • it wasn't a success because the engine was rather buggy, and people found it difficult to play and control :(

  • oh that's lame, cause the last time i played it i seen alot of things that appeared only lately like the physic, the movement of the weapon, big enviroments, a nice story and alot of other nice things that actually i can't remember :D

  • I just recently installed it and beat it for the first time, and LOVED IT, still a great game after all these years.

  • @theguymjp I would like to continue that explaining.. The game was so buggy because they were out of date and late, so they were forced to release it as unfinished game.. Few months later there came updates which fixed it mostly and made even more realistic dinosaurs.. But then no one bothered to give a new try for the once failed game.. Sad it had to end that way.

  • crysis can run on 800mhz processor

  • yeah right

  • crysis demo on 64 mb video card, 512mb ram, 800mhz processor. first level only though. playable framerate. 800x600 all low. windows xp. all physics done by processor

  • I don't believe you. The rest of the specs are just about believable I guess, but not the 800Mhz processor, not unless there's at least two of them.

  • they have it online.

  • Realy? Show me... it's prob. fake

  • type in crysis 64mb. not fake. there are 2 vids

  • I wouldn't call that a playable framerate, and when any physics/ai/special effects come in it'd only get worse. You're right; Crysis can run on a 800MHz processor, but it's not playable even when there's nothing going on.

    =]

  • I played at that fps on medium. and also, when physics/etc. come into play, it goes into bullet time lol. I downloaded a really taxing map called mysterious island and there are a hundred enemies on screen at once. It's the same because fps is same and everything else is slow including bullets. crysis was designed to be playable at low fps

  • lol, that's interesting =]

  • the one problem with tresspasser was no crosshair, and since you could move your arm it didn't just shoot to the center of the screen. not complaining about the physics, but it was impossible to aim very well

  • That's just not true. There were keys for turning your wrist in different directions and using those you could line up the iron sights of the guns perfectly. And centering your point of view on your gun was easily done, if you needed to do that to aim properly

  • How is this the crysis engine killer? It's just a bunch of blocks falling, sure the engine must be appluaded for it's early design but come on, that just makes it a few years ahead of it's time.

  • Yeah, I know. Lol, I was a bit of a new-b when I made this video. IIRC I was thinking it could be updated at source code level, and the super-optimized engine would look considerably better.

I know better now. *rolls eyes*

  • wow, this is very impressive for such an old game. (though as people have said, it was far too ahead of its time, and it was also ordered to be rushed for a holiday release)

  • You know what the half life 2 fanboys where saying before hl2 was released?

"O THOS WR SHT PHYSCS I HP HL2 DOSNT GT SCH CRP PYSCS INGEN"

No, I'm not joking, they actually where calling this game overrated.

And now their precious hl2 doesn't come close to this.

  • this game is known to have inspired farcry

where can i find this game? does it work on xp?

  • You can't buy it in the shops anymore, but I'm sure there are plenty of coppies on e bay. And yes, it works fine with XP.

If you buy it, don't forget to try its level editor - tresed

  • mine will install but than when its done the file just gets deleted emediatly i know i spelled it wrong

  • i dont want to put this game's engine down but this video at least, only show blocks falling, where as crysis has a vast amount of object coliding realisticly with better graphics overall so its not exactly a crysis killer if improved upon and on another note you could say the cryengine is the improved version of this anyways

  • True, very true. Thanks for such a constructive comment =)

But yeah, this game is very old, and like you said, could only compete with Crysis if it was improved at source code level.

  • ;) everything has to start somewhere, im sure this inspired crysis in some way

  • When playing Crysis, I was really reminded of Trespasser. I even thought it might have been made by the same developer. The lush jungle and the physics are the main ingredients for both games.

I never finished Trespasser, I got stuck in the town with the stupid keycards. I thought the game was supposed to let you do things your way, like climbing over a fence instead of opening it... oh well.

  • Dude, you do know there is a comunity project to remake Tresspassor on the CryENGINE2, yes? It's even directly supported by CryTEK(eh... the least they could do)... along with other very interesting and abitious modding projects.

  • no fucking way! link plz.

  • Trespasser's physics engine had serious fundamental flaws. Newer physics simulations take more processing power because they're more accurate.

  • And being less accurate makes it fundamentaly flawed? x_x Pay more attention to your posts people! You sound fucking retarded, more and more each day.

  • Well, NeoXF, being less accurate can be a problem when you're talking about things like collision detection and friction, both of which were very broken in the trespasser engine. They're hard to get right computationally, and require more complex algorithms to implement properly.

  • while not very accurate and sometimes glitchy ( surely could have been worked out if developed longer/patched) these physics and game engine are truly ahead of its time

  • By about 5 years. Took devs forever to realize that to make the game more real that the games need proper physics. Halo had some physics but nothing as robust as Trespasser. It wasn't until the Havok engine came out that commercial games had decent physics. It's just that Halo 2 and 3 failed to fix the code in their implementation though HL2 did :P

  • Haha, great video man! And so tru, I wish the devs back then had more time on there hands to smoothen Trespasser gaming. The physics of objects and the water(1998!!!!) where lightyears ahead of it's time.

  • awesome

  • Tres can handle real-time mass physics. Crysis needs to be rendered at a lower framerate and played back at a higher one :P

Give Tres better graphics, fix those couple physics bugs the game has, and redo the "arm" system and Tres would be just as good if not better than Crysis in this regard.

If we ever get the source code and some determined and committed programmers than we could fix what was wrong with this game much faster (especially if the code has notation)

  • akku95 = noob

    akku95 + public opinion = PWNED akku95

WTF am I speaking in equations for?

  • LOL =)

  • aren't we all? lol

  • I'm sure there are people who have Tres that don't go to TresCom :P

  • yup, I know two, but at the time I wrote it the only people who had commented were trescommers

  • Ohhhh just realized you're from TresCom, nevermind! XD

  • Hey dude... that's awesome. I actually invented truly destructable buildings in Trespasser a couple months back heheh, over at TresCom dot org, with some interesting scripting. That there is pretty neat but I don't think it counts as really destructable if the slightest nudge sends the whole thing tumbling. xP Would make a nice ruin, though.
