ACTUALLY Joe Walsh was before that with Rocky Mountain Way in 73 although he was not the first either... much info on the history of the talk box on wiki
I started watching Roger play when he was 12 yrs old and mom and dad came with him because he was so young. To see him start and see him all the way through his life till his untimely death, you can see the amazing talent he had. He will be missed. I first saw him at the Elks Club in Connersville, In. Such an amazing man.
So thankful i got to see Roger Troutman live in OKC 1983 when he was hot!! They pulled the plug on him cause he wanted to strip naked lol! The Gap Band, the S.O.S Band and ZAPP! awesome show!! I saw the "new ZAPP" last weekend and Lester Troutman, Roger's lil bro sounded just like him!!
To his credit T-pain does give props to Roger saying what he(Roger) did you have to have an incredible talent to play the synth & mouth the words at the same time. RIP Roger
T-Pain and Roger Troutman should not even be compared. One, T-Pain is not Roger's level. Two, they're are two completely different genres. Three, T-Pain doesn't use a talk box. I must admit I like some of T-Pain's music but it pails in comparison to Roger
great song...religious men huh? Good to see 'musicians' preaching something other than sex, drugs, and criminal acts, and im a rap lovin, agnostic, and i get that "5 finger discount", lol
@garymofo2 no, your are soooo wrong!!! t-pain just press play and "sing" wrong notes, this is a REAL band, with REAL SONGS (not beats), these are REAL INSTRUMENTS, played by real musicians. this is MUSIC not commercial bullshit! you cant even compare it to shit like t-pain!
Cruising Cleveland in a 1968 Catalina convertible, friday night after the football game, with the girls bumping to the beats of "More Bounce to the Ounce"... jamming Roger & Zapp, Cameo, The Gap Band... those times are long gone but not forgotten!

The kids have better technology, but I think we had more funGreat post!
Zap and Rogers (More Bounce to the Ounce) Awesome group always loved them (Talk Boxies) They will be played and always have been played at my party's.Not a party with-out Zap and Rogers
It's so great U can appreciate such good music @ ur young age, 'n in a day in time when the young kids only know 'n only care to know that bullcrap that's saturatin' our airwaves each 'n everyday!!! Kudos to U...
