  • zapp and roger were coooollll

  • T-Pain uses autotune. Zapp and Roger use a vocoder. There's a difference.

  • @telizabeth2002 P-Tain still sucks

  • @xXteknomaticXx Indeed you are correct! Only thing he participated in that I found even remotely entertaining was "I'm On a Boat."

  • Love Zapp reminds me of new years eve 1990 in Irvine bomb ass concert

  • why why why do you talk about T-Pain.. he has no FUCKING relevance to Roger.....

  • Roger Troutman was a one of music's pure geniuses and he never gets credit for his artistic talent ! he was Zapp !

  • MJ, Teddy, Teena, Roger & all the "Funk & Soul" greats have lefted us to sing a Heavenly Funkier Tune !!! Now we're left with these wannabe's !!! Does anybody have a Time Machine so we can travel back & enjoy "REAL MUSIC" ???

  • what is the song ?

  • @crasyhero "More Bounce the Ounce"

  • Autotune has nothing on Roger

  • @Rahcabachar

ABSOLUTELY!!! but technically the 1st talk box dude was Peter Frampton in 1975

  • @augustjohnnycrashed

ACTUALLY Joe Walsh was before that with Rocky Mountain Way in 73 although he was not the first either... much info on the history of the talk box on wiki

  • @augustjohnnycrashed not that it matters but here is video of Alvino Rey way back and his "talking guitar" here on youtube.. check it out.

  • @augustjohnnycrashed Actually Stevie Wonder used a talkbox as early as 1973

  • Great respects to Roger, if there was no you there would be no West Coast hip hop or rap, Roger = Genius!

  • well, they're also different..

    roger troutman uses a talkbox

    and t-pain uses auto tune

  • I started watching Roger play when he was 12 yrs old and mom and dad came with him because he was so young. To see him start and see him all the way through his life till his untimely death, you can see the amazing talent he had. He will be missed. I first saw him at the Elks Club in Connersville, In. Such an amazing man.

  • THIS IS THE FUNKIEST TRACK EVER LAID DOWN!

  • So thankful i got to see Roger Troutman live in OKC 1983 when he was hot!! They pulled the plug on him cause he wanted to strip naked lol! The Gap Band, the S.O.S Band and ZAPP! awesome show!! I saw the "new ZAPP" last weekend and Lester Troutman, Roger's lil bro sounded just like him!!

  • The epitome of funky.

Roger was a master performer. I hate the fact I never saw him funk out live.

  • man was roger a christian at the end of his life? i didnt know that!

  • Do it King!

  • To his credit T-pain does give props to Roger saying what he(Roger) did you have to have an incredible talent to play the synth & mouth the words at the same time. RIP Roger

  • 100 % Funk

  • Get down Mama!

  • Jisses. WTF! Electrofunkadelic master blast´a! Trully tha rythm king. RIP.

  • actually u hav to be talent to use a talk box u dnt jus sing

  • T-Pain and Roger Troutman should not even be compared. One, T-Pain is not Roger's level. Two, they're are two completely different genres. Three, T-Pain doesn't use a talk box. I must admit I like some of T-Pain's music but it pails in comparison to Roger

  • wot a talented man,,his life was cut short and 4 wot no 1 knows..in the after life i bet 2pak and all the other ledges r making gud tunes

  • i m sad cuz i ll never be able to see him sing this live..for me this song mean so much..love this..

  • This was when groups knew how to entertain a crowd and they played their own stuff. Roger and Zapp was bad!!!!! R.I.P. my brother.................

  • Dang, I wish I was there!!!! Zapp & Roger, what a crazy sound!

  • This is where it all started! The basis for most beat n bounce since. Rest in Peace brother! Much More Bouuunnnceeeee......

  • T-Pain? Who's that?

  • does anybody know what that tube is that the singer puts in his mouth to make his voice sound electric-like?

  • Its called a talk box.

  • its called a vocoder

  • No its actually a talk box. Vocoder is the effect on the voice. But that tube is a talk box...

  • what an intelligiant name for a voice changer!!! haha

  • Is that Sinbad?

  • i mean it is the shit!!!

  • T-Pain has nothing on Zapp&Roger

  • 100x better than T-Pain concerts

  • 1billion times better brother.

  • @garymofo2 no, your are soooo wrong!!! t-pain just press play and "sing" wrong notes, this is a REAL band, with REAL SONGS (not beats), these are REAL INSTRUMENTS, played by real musicians. this is MUSIC not commercial bullshit! you cant even compare it to shit like t-pain!

  • hey me2 im 19 but damn i feel like im 40

  • FOREVER LOVE THIS MUSIC !!!!!!

  • I'm 18 and I can't watch music tv because it makes me sick... why is my generation fucked up?

    RIP legendary Roger Troutman

  • im 19.. wat do you mean?? you mean how our ppl have no soul??

  • this is the shiznit!

  • You had to actually be a part of this era to actually enjoy the artistry of this true music being real to the game. We had feel good music. Something that is hard for the younger generation to understand. If it isn't any cussin' it is whack to them

  • i am so tired of this fuckin generalization of my generation i mean shit man what the fuck does a g gotta do 2 get sum respeck man. LOL.

No, really though, I am tired of it. All of this generation bashing is really immature, no matter which side you're on. I am the younger, and think you ALL need to grow up.

  • My apologies to you if I have offended your generation. But there is a truth to all of this. I know it is a little bitter but don't get me wrong. What I think is immature is though you all have some good artist in your generation it seems like it is almost impossible to listen to some of the music seeing how every other word is a curse word. You can't even get a decent play on the radio station without 5/8 of the songs lyrics being bleeped. And that's real.

no offense to you my friend.

  • Now you're onto it. The radio...yes. I'm a music major, and my favorite (and only) radio station? NPR. lol. You can't look to the radio or tv for the real creativity of this generation. Have you heard of the Telecommunications Act of 1996? Congress opened the door then to what we have now: 2 companies owning ALL of the "Black Music" (hip hop and r&b) radio stations in the 50 largest american cities. That means the same playlist in all those cities, and the same is true in other genres.

  • That's messed up.

  • Take away the cursing, read between the lines, and actually listen to it, then rap has a message or a story.

  • I hear you. And you are right there should be a story. Send me a video and decipher its contents for me in the new . I know about the old with groups like: Public Enemy, XClan, Arrested Development, The Ghetto Boys, NWA, Whoudini, Tupac just to name a few out of a lot because there lines are clear." Politics, Principle and Paranoia trying to make a change and Party while we still have a chance, The unfairness to African Americans and an opportunity for something better. How about the new.

  • Well, thats the thing, hiphop is dead today bacause of the new rappers but there are still some with lyrical skills etc. Try listening to for example Immortal technique, his lyrics are really good.

  • Thanks! I will definitely do that.

    I appreciate that.

  • MarkEC64, I couldn't have said it better myself. I grew up with this kind of music. Hence my name, Nostalgic Natasha. The music now has no sustenance and no real message!

  • Hey Natasha, I hear you Boo,

I Love the Language of Good Music.

  • i agree, im part of this new generation and this shit is fucking gay, all i want to hear is something bad ass, and all i get is a bunch of pop techno rap and emo rock and roll, atleast rap and heavy metal music in the eighties and early nineties was all mean and badass with a shit ton of attitude, now all we get is a bunch of fucking studio rat posers that couldn't play a good live show if their life depended on it.

  • real "FUNKY" RIP

  • These are better than the fucken music from now a days... Rip Roger

  • great vid - one of the best funkateers ever - luv it !!!

  • Joe walsh in the 70's used it all the time. Anyhow its a voicebox

  • Comment removed

  • Yes he did and was awesome!!!

  • Issac Hayes and Stevie Wonder used the talkbox prior to Roger Troutman widely popularized it. Just some FYI.
