  • Not sure if you know but the Band was Ronnie's back up group aka as the Hawks before they moved on to back Bob Dylan. That's why he was featured on the "Last Waltz" I knew Ronnie in London Ontario Canada in 1968 when he was part owner of a Club Called Campbell's in London. He was and remains one of the true natural greats of Rock and Roll. Levon Helm came to Canada with Ronnie in the late 1950's.

  • @Buddym1947 i knew the information about the backups of The Band

i knew nothing about other stuff,ThanX for the informations and for stop by..

  • @Buddym1947 Ronnie sent Robbie to get lessons from a guitar player named Roy Buchanan when he joined the Hawks. Read this somewhere. Roy used to play at a club in my nieghborhood, The T-Bar in Milmont, Pa. ~ Roy even gave lessons to the clubs owners son Jeff who is my age that I know for a long time. Robbie Robertson still is qouted as Roy being a huge influence on his playing. My folks used to see Roy play and my old man still talks about to this day.

  • @Buddym1947 Wasn`t it Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawkies?

  • @TheTheoldgit It has been Ronnie Hawkins and the hawks as long as i knew him which goes back to 1968-69.

  • @Buddym1947 Cheers I stand corrected. They were great no matter what they were called.

  • @Buddym1947 Cheers I stand corrected. They were great no matter what they were called. I`d like to know who spammed your other answer!

  • @Buddym1947

It always makes me smile whenever I remember RR's Fank Sinatra comment.. Do you know if that was a full interview, and if so, how I could find it?

  • Jaime Royal "Robbie" Robertson, (born Jaime Robert Klegerman 5 July 1943) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known for his membership as the guitarist and primary songwriter within The Band. He was ranked 78th in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time...
