Even worse than this is the poor Simon Estes with problems in his voice and avoiding the best aria for baritono in this opera: qui donc commande quand'il aime ...and being substituted in the third and fourth acts.....

This opera (in fact a masterpiece)deserves a better group of singers, good scenarios and a wonderful ballet. If you can, try the "unformal" recording of Sherrill Milnes in English. Althouh its fair sound quality, this recording gives us an idea of its merits.

I find you all very cruel to Caballé. I'd rather hear her at 70 or 80 than most of her colleagues at 20. Remember what Verdi said of one singer? "He has no voice left but he's the only one who can bring my character to life".

Hey people! She might have lost a great deal of her voice... but I think there are several things to be mad about, more serious matters, than a bad performance of a great artist. It's rather simple. If you don't like it... don't watch it

Children, children, she's 69! Most women go through changes that take away from the voice. Additionally, she had two caesareans and two additional surgeries removing a tumor in one, and finally a full hysterectomy nearly 30 years before this video. I think she's lasted quite long enough...

What do you mean she was a Goddess with capital G? There is no such thing as a human Goddess, she was a goddess. I am surprise that she's still singing at her age and physical condition. Even though I'm just 25 years old, I'm not surprise that her voice is almost gone since she never maintained a proper weight. I'm pretty sure that if she would have lived a healthier life, she would been singing gloriously at this moment.
