This is certainly one of Jon's greatest songs, but does anyone else find that he seems to raise his voice an octave or 2 as the word "down" comes out? - it catches the listener slightly off-guard because it's a little out of step with how he sounds singing the preceding lines

Great song. A story about the movie goes, Jon was visiting the set of Young Guns II and was offerred a bit part. They dressed him in period clothes and put a shaggy beard and wig. In a prison escape scene, Jon is a criminal who gets shot and falls backwards. After he was "shot", everyone gathered around and sang, "Shot throught the heart and you're to blame, Jon Bon Jovi, you give love a bad name". It gave me a chuckle.
