  • Their original producer was Doyle Bramhall who played with and wrote many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's songs. RIP Doyle Bramhall.

  • he is native american, he use to be with my aunt----shannon.....hes from Marty, South Dakota, which is located on the Yankton Sioux Reservation.

  • @gmleroy007 Native American....not native american.....lol.

  • LOVE THIS BAND .... BLUES,ROCK,RIFF,WHAT ELSE DO YO WHANT,//...

  • hey thats my shot on the image of this video...way coool

  • Got some feel of SRV going on! This guy is past awesome.

  • yes it sounds like stevie, as does most of their stuff, just like Kenny wayne.. doesnt mean they arent badass in their own right....Chris duarte puts a better twist on the SRV sound if you ask me.

  • the fuckin reason it sounds like SRV is because Mato looked up to him

  • I can't help but feel this is a total rip off of Mary Had a Little Lamb by SRV. =\

  • @cmondefeatme

I have a feeling that Stevie Ray would be pleased that Mato has some of the same vibe that Stevie did...and I do not think SRV would look at it as being "a total rip off". Stevie enjoyed the HELL out of listening, watching and learning from other guitarists and musicians. He would have totally embraced this young guitar slinger and sung his praises for his talent and soul.

  • @TNStevieRayfan1 Well said.......I agree

  • Have followed this group from their first cd and LOVE THEM THEY ARE AWESOME

  • ii love your music your hott!!

  • hey any one knows where can get music from this excellent player sounds like SRV but fresh¡

  • this dude rocks..sound like stevie ray vaughn

  • Sounds good. A bit like Stevie Ray, but very good.

  • lovely blues .......

  • I just think he's hot!

  • i used to be a security guard at Northern Lights casino in Walker Minnesota, Mato and his band played there, I was thrilled to hell when my supervisor posted me with him, got to stand around by him and during meet and greet and afterwards, what even thrilled me more was when his tour manager gave me his new cd. ROCK ON MATO.

  • Mato is my favorite living guitarist! I was sad to hear that Indigenous split but at least they are all still making music, especailly Mato. Saw Indigenous live about 7 years ago, one of the best performances I have ever seen! Live long and Play Strong Mato Nanji

  • Jimi Hendrix, Billy F. Gibbons, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, David Gilmour, Jimi Page, Tinsley Ellis, and now Mato. For blues dont fuck with these guys.

  • @BOGATA9 - You forgot to mention Jesse Ed Davis...

  • Go Mato!

  • siyo tsunalii Mato ale Indigenous, you hav so incredibly revived and re-incarnated the sounds, vibes, rifs and heart of SRV and Hendrix, but you have gone 5 steps further, bringing it back to the people once more. wado anadanvtli (thanks brothers).

  • Love it!

  • hmmm....you should listen to Mato before judging that way. The guy below is right, more hendrx than anything, but really has a great style all his own. Check out some older indigenous songs

  • You are ignorant. Find out who Mato is and who he hangs with before making such a stooopid remark. Mato is his own legend broseph.

  • More Hendrix influence than SRV...just listen to his cover of Red House....I have never heard them do an SRV song but I think it would be great to hear that

  • SRV made a lot of "damage" to the blues guitar...

  • STFU, these guys are red u retard, these guys are native, not mexican

  • @greendaddy101 I dont see no red on him he is light brown!

  • I just found these guys, wow...

great stuff, heavy SRV influence, but played very well, I will be looking into more of their stuff, you go indians!

Glad to see some representation of our native americans, playing american music ...blues!!!!

Im part Choctaw, and I would like to see more natives involved in our national politics, we need the help & wisdom!

  • HILARIOUS!

  • my fav. band all time

  • sounds like they listened to mary had a little lamb and tried to not emulate it just enough not to get sued.

  • good but not very original.

  • Give Mato some love, SRV took after Albert King. Everyone looks up to someone!

  • hey thats my uncle ! My family is so talented

  • Anyone else hear the Chris Robinson influence in the vocal?

  • Hey, if Mato can continue where SRV left off, I'm happy. I love Mato-he's a very nice guy and a talented guitarist. I will always love SRV as well...

  • That's some cool tremolo he's got. He's pretty much a SRV spinoff, but Mato still kicks major ass.

  • got that srv, buddy guy feel.

  • mary had a little lamb is a BUDDY GUY song

  • Do i hear MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB?(STEVIE VERSION) oh well this guy can still play the fuck out of the guitar.

  • Love indigenous, and Mato - well what a cool, sexy individual. Love their sound, soooo laid back and brimming full of blues, complete bliss.

  • sounds like SRVs mary had a little lamb

  • Mato's awesome.

  • but still, all in all they sound good

  • ... actually i have to agree with napco205 im only 17 and ive already heard enough srv sound alikes to last a lifetime... ofcourse i love SRVs music and he has been a HEFTY influence on me and the soul i give out when i play... but its better to improve the style that HE himself improved rather than to stay at the same level like yngwie malmsteen did for ritchie blackmore of deep purple.. he implied classical music in his playing and malmsteen made it better, faster just like srv did 4 the blues

  • If you looked into them a little you would see they are much more than a Stevie copy. GREAT band, very unique sound on a lot og tunes. I have seen them live twice and was very blown away. And I do not get impressed that easily.

  • These guys are incredible; I heard them on a local college radio channel driving to work one night, and luckily they mentioned who was playing.

  • One word:

    Underrated.

  • Two words: THEY ROCK, man...

    Ok, three words...

  • Ha! Yes. Yes, they do.

I've always wanted to see them live. I wish that they would go on tour with Joe Bonamassa or someone of this calibur.

  • I saw them once in California...

The guitar is a lot like Kenny Wayne Sheppard or Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Lazy, hard driving, uptempo... sounds like it flows out so effortlessly, but I know it ain't easy.

  • Could easily be mistaken for Stevie Ray. I'm not entirely convinced it isn't

  • I heard the last 30 seconds of this song on Sirius Blues CH 74 and had to find out who these guys were. I am in shock and awe that they have been around for over ten years and are not that well known. Now I'm mad at Sirius for not playing more of their songs.

  • How many CDs or show tickets have you sold???

  • 2 month old comment! Ask yourself that! What I said is the truth of the matter.

  • He's good alright Seen them live in 05 at the handlebar in S.C. great show he kicks ass andhave all their CD's.

  • Mato is SRV reincarnated. LOL. Seriously, he's as bad ass as they get and a genuinely super nice guy. Have met him several times & had drinks with him after the shows. He's what is right about music. Thanks for posting this.

  • I saw him live last year opening for Los Lonely Boys and I agree with the earlier comments about his playing. He's amazing, but he was turned up SOOO loud that I couldn't fully appreciate his talents. He's still fantastic though!

  • Sounds like Mary Had a Little Lamb . . . Great song though.

  • I know what u mean :)

  • @danieldj2004 yeessss, i thought the same....mary had a little lamb!! but it's good anyway!

  • @danieldj2004 yep... Just another SRV's copies!

  • This sounds so much like stevie! It's unreal..haha! Great job!

  • HAHA! The "related videos" are no way related to this! (just noticed that)

  • LOL I just noticed that now. I'll change the heading to be Indigenous first possibly. :)

  • Ok I changed the title, it didn't change any related videos lol. :(

  • I don't like how some people say this sounds just like SRV. Granted it's similar but if Stevie were to do a cover of this song in heaven it would sound a little different. I have seen him do this song live a couple of years ago and it sounded awesome and put the album version to shame (if that's possible). I mean you just "felt" it! Also I learned how to play this one and some others on this album a while back, haha!

  • Couldn't agree with you more, its Mato Nanji's guitar playing!!!

  • @ghurricane87 Dude, this REALLY sounds like SRV. It's like a mix of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Scuttle' Buttin". IT'S TOO OBVIOUSSSSSS!!!!

  • mexicali version sucks

  • looking for their version of red house

  • Buy their live CD

  • looking for their version of red house

  • not the version that is already on here

  • saw them on austin city limits

  • I have a video of Indigenous. I'm not sure if this VHS is now available at all on dvd :) I mostly watch any videos on youtube until I have a chance to see indigenous live.

  • The dude is a KILLER player. His version of Red House is unreal

  • I agree, I have heard Red House, I hope to see and hear Mato Live. Have you seen him live?

  • I saw him live in Santa Fe, in '06. I was a little disappointed because he was cranked so loud it was hard to hear how good he really is - and that was at in outdoor venue. I do agree that his version of Red House is incredible.

  • pfff, and he really thinks we can't hear it's an SRV song without a few notes... and on a different scale?! lame.

  • Which SRV song would that be?

  • for me, its not like SRV - i mean i know u might think it sounds like scuttle buttin' - but this is Mato playing :) and he's got that tone that i love. so happy SRV has inspired him. I love this instrumental :)
