  • ROFLMAO Visual Basic

  • @RoarOfVictory Yes, VB, the most productive and common development tool ever created.

I do .NET now, but even today it's still true that the average business application can be in the user's hands more quickly when it's done with VB6. Although there are obvious advantages, it takes about 10% longer to produce the same product. (And this is consistent with studies.)

By definition, the best software is the software that users find... (drumroll) ...useful.

  • @pburto "average business application can be in the user's hands more quickly when it's done with VB6."

Considering it takes longer to type and because of the fact that there is no real performance difference between .NET languages, due to them all being JIT compiled, I find this claim dubious.

  • I think this is a testament to how quickly things change in this industry. If you don't keep up with the latest developments you will be out of a job.

  • all programmers do, is sit and do html shit..

  • This is gonna end up make me facepalm, I'm sure "..Like Java," Ok "C++" Mmh "Visual Basic" *Facepalm*

  • OMG I DIDNT KNOW COMPUTERS ARE IN MY VCR?!?!?

  • how old is this? 1990?

  • COBOL? *looks around for pterodactyls with pocket protecters* Thats some really old stuff lol.

  • @angrynordicmidget cobol is still big in banking and insurance.

  • Programming consists of hours and hours (per day), extending into months and year, hunting down and looking for a single command before one can proceed to the next step. I know. I've programmed in Fortran, C++, Java, Mathematics (Wolfram Research), Maple (MapleSoft), and Mathtype. 99.99% of my programming is in MS Word and Mathtype.

Math is infinitely better than programming.

  • @mphello infinite is undefined. how's that for math?

your calculator was programmed. any useful thing you own was most likely programmed. don't pretend like programming doesn't involve math, and how could math be any more "important" than programming? a lot of math we use today is done by computers, on programs, which were programmed. math and programming are equal.

  • go out and get a life. there are more beautiful things in life :)

  • when in the 90s was this made?

  • Ahh the life of a programmer.

    Sex, drugs and float variables!

  • @Soap360 people probably think your joking too... hah they suck

  • @Vinlaell Haha :)

  • @Soap360 Sex?

  • @MrCauTiioN Prostitutes.

  • @Soap360 haha ok that's more like it

  • @Soap360 That's boolshit :)

  • watz with these compz

  • there seems to have been a lot of females in the computer programming industry back in the day...

  • COBOL????

  • a real programmer can create a simulation of the universe-using rocks....

  • C ftw

  • PYTHON FTW!

  • Html is a good language for fiddling around, but if you want to make the money get into some more serious language. *cough* c++ *cough*

  • @ICIKIx

I fiddle around with C++. Well I did. Now I'm going to University and learning it.

  • @ICIKIx HTML is NOT a programming language dammit!!! It's markup language created for browser rendering of webpages it is never compiled. Sorry, I snapped at you. I didn't mean that. Can buy you a beer or something.....never mind....*mumbles slurs*....

  • very old

  • lets just all get along! =D No more fighting! I am just starting classes to become a programmer, and one of the first things taught is C, so we can later learn C++ easier...I don't know if that says anything or not...Maybe certain places just use different script....either way lets be nice to one another?

  • yea c and c++ are two of the most popular languages almost everyone either learns one of them or java first

  • C++ is also a very powerful language capable of supporting many different styles of programming. Very few learn C++ first because it's a medium, not a high, level programming language and it's options can overwhelm even an experienced programmer. The reason C++ is so popular is because it is reliable, understandable, and adaptable.

  • @Someone0175 C++ is a a high-level language. It's just poorly implemented which is why few learn C++

  • @lewrites ay programmers use medium level language or something which a complier turns into machine code?

  • Correct everyone can joke thats what makes this world such a great place good day to you sir and I wish you well on your PROGRAMMING adventures.

  • some people talk for no reason. seriously dude if you don't understand a joke sometimes its better to just not respond.

  • their kinda common jokes. Im sure your the smartest programmer ever dude you can PROGRAM in c++ and java who the hell can't.

  • dude you need to figure out what a joke is idiot. Have you never heard of real programmer jokes? Have you never heard of the real programmer (mel kaye look him up)? do you even know how to program? because there once was a time were people wrote in binary and hex to write programs mister rudimentary knowledge of programing. btw have you ever even heard of assembly if you haven't just shut up and don't even bother me with your presence.

  • @TheEradicator13 In all faireness, you make little sense, you keep changing you;re mind.

Do you think C++ is useless or something? Or are you just obsessed with making programming insanely difficult for people by forcing them to write the machine code without a compiler.

  • omg.

  • sounds fun to me :)

  • HOLY CRAP, i love programming but looking at this i seriously dun feel to be a programmer nemore

  • naa...the video its just like 20 years ago.......

  • real programmers write in hex none of this high level language crap.

  • nope, most write in C++ and Python

  • i said REAL PROGRAMMERS write in hex. most NON REAL PROGRAMMERS write in c++ and i'm pretty sure python isn't in second.

  • @TheEradicator13 "real programmers write in hex none of this high level language crap. "

You know what hex is right? Its a numeric system, called base 15. It is simply a representation of numbers. Let me give you an example of an opcode in Hex...on the x86 architecture.

    0xB8, 0x10, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, /* mov eax, 0x10*/

Would you want to program like that? If yes, then you are an idiot because compilers can do it better than you can, i promise you....

  • dude it was a joke that one guy totally flipped out about it though. I mostly write in C++. You sound like a smart guy so i'm guessing its a typo but hex is base 16 not 15. I doupt many people want to program in hex but sometimes its necessary. btw good asm programmers can write code more efficient than a compiler although compilers are almost to the point of beating them now.

  • im done with my "Hello World"

  • I have to dress up as a computer programmer for CO! What do they wear anyways? UGH! *boring! :p

  • nerdy!

  • Visual BASIC? thats on my calculator bitch!!!

  • COBOL?? how old is this video?

  • This video makes me move away from becoming anything that has to do with programing computers, it looks so boring.

  • thats because their boring, you have to make it fun.

  • same here

  • if you think that what you just saw is boring and that you can't possibly think of yourself reading a crap load of books to learn about all that, then it's -definitely- not for you

  • It depends upon the application you are building. Programming is essentially the creation of a virtual tool. If you are creating a program that involves physics, such as a game you will most certainly use a great deal of math. It all depends on what you intend to build. The language is to a programmer what a paint brush is to an artist.

  • This guy knows what hes talking about.

  • without physic knowlege u wount even programm clocking hand , not speaking about math . u wount even understand low-level programming without this

  • I program and defending on what you are doing you might need a lot of math. You are right about it being made up of words but it can get way for complicated. I use php which is an easier programing language than others but it is still very complex...

  • and how is that a day in the life of? lol

  • im tired of the people who think programming is like HTML

  • yeah hahah fully

  • Nerd talk!!!

  • :) lol

  • @kingofthedistant LOL, so true. My friend hacked some static HTML and now calls himself a programmer. When he designs and writes a full-blown dynamic e-commerce system, maybe then I'll call him a programmer.

  • @kingofthedistant In my opinoun anything that is not compiled is not programming but scripting

  • @zubatzu What about Java and .NET languages, they are both compiled and interpreted, but mostly interpreted since they are compiled into a form of byte code and then interpreted and cached for increased performance.

  • @kingofthedistant

    HTML

is a Script language... Noone programms HTML

  • @NazipunkTheThird Unless your a pro!

  • @NazipunkTheThird script languages/compiled languages its all programming, but to call yourself a programmer you better be versed in multiple languages

  • @NazipunkTheThird

Squse me i meant Markup language.. Noone programms a Markup ;)

  • @kingofthedistant +9999999999999999999999999999

  • @kingofthedistant

    YEAH! C++.... ^^

  • @kingofthedistant thats what you call a programming NOOB!

  • @kingofthedistant I'm tired of people who think HTML is programming.

  • @himentourage Agreed. If you can show me flow control and loop statements in HTML, then I'll agree that it's a programming language.
