  • These two need to have separate shows about them... I love his movies but he can get really annoying when he's speaking. Fiona just needs to be heard alone, there's so much there if you listen.

  • Spare me, pretentious jerk. Makes me like them less and less.

  • ditto!

  • she's hot

  • Fiona needs to get that sand out of her vagina

  • @Svperstarr you know nothing about her vagina you fucking fool. Research her life you piece of shit. Listen to her fucking music. And then rot where you're sitting you fucking asshole.

  • awesome awesome AMAZING people

  • I would die to be in that car

  • Self important hacks.

  • Saying that writing a dialog (of Quentin Tarantino standard) is easy would be HUBRIS if it didn't come from the god of dialogs himself.

  • it goes BLEGH

  • i agree the ideas are just transmitted you just have to receive them. that's the creative process for music, video, the written word, pretty much anything. Taraintino is the man!

  • They should never put these two in a car at the same time. They hold the key.

  • she's so amazing and hot

  • my 2 favorite people!!!

  • I saw this on TV, Quintin seemed like such a dick compared to Fiona

  • I have seen the whole episode. I do like both of them, but QT talks too much :) This clip has generated one long thread. I do not understand where all this hate is coming from people posting against QT and FA. Is it jealousy? FA is a genius: Her sophisticated lyrics and melodies. She made 3 albums only, SO WHAT? Who is counting? Her latest album did not sell much? SO What? Neko Case does not sell much. The two are talking about the writing process, and they make sense.

  • Apple & Tarantino ?!!!

    Priceless

  • And it goes: blöä!!! :))

  • She is, they're right about the antena. Sometimes recieving all of that information can make you seem crazy. It's not being pretentious. It's trying to explain where the ideas come from.

  • watch my seduction videos ;) haha

  • Glad to find this one- i agree what they say is true. XD

  • I love you Fiona Apple, but I don't understand. I would pay for a million of your concerts, but you don't release anything. Please don't think of yourself as Quentin Tarantino thinks...I would listen to thousands of commentaries on your music before I turned on one of his.

  • I friggin love the both of these artist

  • She's real and NOT calculating. Sometimes this makes her less articulate, but she MEANS what she says. Listen to her music, especially the solo piano stuff. It's very heartfelt and real, it makes you FEEL something if you let it in deeply.

  • Those of you who are bashing this video need to grow up. Really. Fiona Apple is one of the greatest artists from the 90's (Quentin's okay, too). But enough commenting such thoughtless posts unless it's constructive. Go back to school and learn to have some tact 'fore you do so, because it makes you come off as really naive and immature. Instead of judging so fast, at least know who you're judging. I doubt you've ever given her a chance. "When the Pawn..." is genious. Basically, don't be a jerk.

  • I'm just commenting on people going over and over again about Quentin and Fiona and letting everyone know that the two of them are good friends and have been good friends for many many years.

  • Hmm, looks like a dodgy episode this one. Alot of pseudo intellectual rubbish.

  • @ TeenagedCircus you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO right.

  • WHY ARE ALL OF THESE SO SHORT?!

  • "And it just goes...BLEH!" She's a genius. She really is for just being able to be full to the brim with ideas and describe their coming to be so well.

  • I really don't like the Tarintino guy.

  • i'm in love with her...toooo.....i'm in southamerica so you can see she takes you everywhere...

  • I love Iconoclasts, Sundance needs to bring out more episodes, more often.

  • my computer is about to crash..so much talent in just one little video...

  • I remember watching episode this a few yrs ago and all I heard was Tarantino bragging about himself and Fiona getting about 1 word in.

  • I am so in love with her!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • look for the song from Maria Stern "Priest"...

  • Fiona Apple is Totally cool. I went to Woodstock on in 1969, she's the real deal, maybe some people need 3 ears. I love her!

p.s facts are over rated, in fact theres only TRUTH there is no facts

  • Fiona Apple is Totally cool. I went to Woodstock on in 1969, she's the real deal, maybe some people need 3 ears. I love her!

  • I LOVE U FIONA!!!

  • It goes BLEGH!

  • I love to see these to geniuses together

  • @dagobantoine

not to nitpick, however, it detracts from the genius of these two individuals when you call these two geniuses and use the wrong tense of to.

  • You all fell for the same troll.

  • I love how the conversation below (last 5 comments) can be so well described by the last word (onomatopey) in this video.

    Keep blurpin... trolls...

  • asdfhuliashduflasihf is right. Malubay Syecado all you say is your right which obviously isnt proving anything. your fucking retarded.

  • guys...you are fighting on the internet over a youtube video. chill out.

  • @williamsturgispayne

    Stick It Up Your Butt!

  • Oh the antena thing is SO TRUE!

  • would be cool, if they were in the bang bus both....

  • moonlightgarden12am is my icon

  • Wouldn't you love to see Quentin and Clint Eastwood talk about films? That's the show and Quentin would have loved that and how cool of a show that would have been. A million views I bet. I was just waiting for Quentin to kick Fiona out onto the pavement, or based on the way she looked, maybe he just scraped her off it.

  • Don't mean to put down Quentin but really, he's the icon? Dave Chappelle chose Maya Angelou, Ashley Judd chose Madeleine Albright, Alician Keys chose Ruby Dee, Richard Branson chose Desmond Tutu, Bill Maher chose Clive Davis (odd choice for Bill but awesome). Some just choose friends or self-serving promotions for their charity, but Fiona needs to broaden her knowledge of living icons. Unless she's looking for an acting job. Hell, why Fiona anyway. It should have been Quentin and his icon.

  • Comment removed

  • Irrelevant statement. The show is called ICONOCLASTS! Do you know what an ICON is? Where's the Icon? Michael Jackson was an Icon for example. So is Maya Angelou AND Clive Davis (there's your different styles), but Taratino hasn't reached the level of icon. The show teams up successful celebs and their icon (Kelly Pickler hanging with Dolly Parton is an obvious one), this should have been Taratino with one of HIS icons since he has many and talks about them all the time. Fiona is just a fan.

  • If you have personally lowered the standards of icons everywhere. very sad indeed. i guess by thinking they're icons it makes you feel like a loser like yourself isn't so bad.

  • Comment removed

  • No, you're wrong. Taratino may SOMEDAY be an icon, but he's not one now. Regarding Fiona, come on, get real, LOL. Not even Fiona herself actually bought she is an icon. If you're going to include Quentin on your list, then you got to include Carrot Top, and if you're going to include Fiona you got to include a random crack whore.

  • LOLOLOLOLOL do you know what is an iconoclast? It's an actual word, so unless this is a case of malapropism or a bad pun, i suggest you refer to that definition when you state your arguments.

  • Actually you should use the definition that the Sundance Channel created in their mission statement for this show, since it is that definition they are using. Their definition expands upon your dictionary definition. So you are completely wrong.

  • Look, as much as we'd like to agree that you're right, that facts don't.

Firstly, there was no re-definition I can find. I looked at the mission statement by the producer, "Iconoclast explores the intersection where two great talent meet - and where creativity comes alive". The emphasis is placed on the "creative visionaries", as phrased by the producers themselves, not iconic status. Fiona Apple absolutely fits the idea of a creative individual. So I have followed the mission statement of

  • Sundance's producers themselves so unless you find me the quotes, I think you are wrong. Because 1) The Sundance ppl did not re-define iconoclast in any specific way, and 2) The mission statement itself doesn't in any way refer to the pre-requisite of the guests being "icons" in anyway. The emphasis however is placed on CREATIVE VISIONARIES, unless you want to contend that Fiona Apple isn't one. Then that is your opinion. However, the final word is still that no mention of icon was made at all.

  • Everything is obviously a matter of degree. My point is, yes THEY consider them to be icons or "creative visionaries" and as I early pointed out, many on this show have done a good job doing that (Maya Angelou, Desmond Tutu). I'm sure someone considers Carrot Top a "creative visionary" too, just like Quentin and Fiona (I'm assuming Fiona chose Quentin here). Agree that a Taratino/Eastwood pairing would have had the right weight for the show. Next up, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Oooh!

  • Creative Visionaries isn't a paraphrase of icon. Just because you put them in the same sentence doesn't make your initial argument stand. The final word rests at that emphasis is placed on creative visionaries. Period.

You prefer a different pairing, that's your choice. Unfortunately, you don't choose to judge what she brings to the table, but rather your rubric disfavours her simply because she is not, in your mind, an "icon" I repeat again, that's not the point of the show. You want a show

  • that celebrates icons and the celebrity culture, find another show. This one obviously doesn't suit your tastes.

  • If you read my early post and examples of GOOD shows obviously it does suit my tastes. My criticism was for this one particular episode where someone dropped the ball. And please, PLEASE, don't tell me you equate Fiona Apple with Desmond Tutu. You would really sound silly then. Not that you don't already.

  • Your criticism: Regarding Fiona, come on, get real, LOL. Not even Fiona herself actually bought she is an icon. It centres on Fionas iconic status. Or lack of, according to you. Again, irrelevant, because, as I repeat for the zillionth, not the point of the show. The show focuses on creative individuals. Unless you want to contend Fionas creative ability, in that case, your opinion. But since your argument is screaming ICON!, it is irrelevant.

  • Let me reiterate: Icon is not a paraphrase of Creative Visionary. The producers made no mention of icon. Admit that your argument is wrong.

Also, dont respond to the only bit you think you can counter by digressing. Answer my whole argument, point for point. Do I have to make a questionnaire for you?

You can call me silly if it makes you feel better. At the end of the day, you still choose to give me no reply. You just digress.

  • You are wrong on every point and just making an argument for the sake of creating an argument. You are well aware that I am right and you are wrong. And yes you are silly. If I don't reply immediately its because I have a life.

  • How am I wrong? How are you right?

Honey, it doesn't matter if you reply immediately or not, it doesn't show any thought process on your part.

Let me make this very simple. Just give me the yes/no answer and I'll leave it at that. Surely you can handle that?

Is the show about celebrating creative individuals?

Does the show make any mention about celebrating icons?

  • You are really grasping for straws, give it up and move on. At this point we both know I'm right and don't need to stretch this further on. If someone is asked to name the best actor and they name David Hasslehoff, one can make an accurate assessment about the choice and the person who made the choice without having to show documentation as to the requirements of that choice. Surely anyone can pick anyone for any reason, but that doesn't stop it from being a lame choice.

  • You don't even bother to read my arguments. You just assume you're right. Yeah, you're totally right, this coming from the guy who went "THE SHOW IS CALLED ICONOCLAST. DO YOU KNOW WHAT ICON MEANS?" On this point of definition alone, I AM RIGHT. ADMIT IT.

What you just wrote was irrelevant if you paid attention to what I wrote before. You think Fiona is lame because you don't think she's an icon. FOR THE ZILLIONTH time, the show doesn't intend to show icons. They intend to show creative ppl.

  • You still haven't responded to my arguments. I actually quote the nonsense you write and respond directly. You don't. Who's grasping for straws now?

Just two simple questions, since you have such fail comprehending ability.

Is the show about celebrating creative individuals?

Does the show make any mention about celebrating icons?

Two simple yes/no answers. You just don't want to give those replies because you know you'll be admitting you're wrong.

  • Apparently you have reading disabilities since I have already answered your questions. Your problem is you don't like the answers. Well, the truth hurts, sorry. You just can't make up questions to match an untrue thesis. I can make up a hundred questions just as irrelevant. I think you need to mature a bit and in the process learn a much more, then you will understand. Until then my I suggest the cartoon network for you.

  • Apparently you have memory problems. David Hasselhoff or accurate assessment or whatever does not answer my question. I asked for a simple yes/no answer. I don't accept alternatives. Even a kindergartener would be able to understand what is needed of a yes/no answer. PUT YES OR NO. NO ALTERNATIVES ACCEPTED.

Is the show about celebrating creative individuals?

Does the show make any mention about celebrating icons?

  • "You just can't make up questions to match an untrue thesis. I can make up a hundred questions just as irrelevant." My god you are a charlatan.

What untrue thesis? The questions only require factual answers. Stop digressing.

The producers said creative visionaries not icon. Accept it already. You know for all your talk, none of it ever concedes or addresses the point. You just digress and digress and digress.

THE SHOW IS ABOUT CREATIVE VISIONARIES NOT ICONS. FOR THE FINAL TIME.

  • No its not. That's what YOU think its about, but that not what its about. You been wrong with every one of your comments and we both know it so give it up. You live on your own little island, sad, truly sad. Hey, you know what? My penis is really big and all the girls really love it.

  • No its not. That's what YOU think its about, but that not what its about.

Executive Producer, Robert Redford: Iconoclasts explores the intersection where two great talents meet and where creativity comes alive.

Official Website: A series of intimate unpredictable portraits of creative visionaries.

OK, the execs says so, the official website says so, not just me. So come again, whos wrong?

And you still havent ANSWERED THE 2 QUESTIONS.

  • note: the first sentence is quoted word by word from you. In case you didn't notice.

Secondly, you ahve proved yourself to be a very delusional individual with a huge capacity for stupidity. It would be small wonder if your penis and girls were just an extension of that.

  • No, not at all. I'm a jr. in high school and in the top five in grade point average. That's why I a expect better decisions from those in the public eye. Also, I welcome constructive criticism that help me improve intellectually and physically. I study and keep physically fit. Not just girlfriends but also girls who are just friends say I have the best penis they have ever seen and ask me to show their friends. I understand that its heredity but I do take pride in the fact.

  • You know what, I'm trying to be interested what you just said, but I'm just not.

Look, I gave you the quotes by the producers of the show, that is their vision. If you don't like Fiona because you don't think she's creative, fine, your opinion. But to say she's a bad choice because she's not an icon, that's not what the producers were trying to do or deliver in the first place. As simple as that.

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf

Sure you're interested...YOU KEEP REPLYING!!!!! You know Fiona Apple is a joke, sure you do, hell, even her name is a joke. She's only made 3 albums and the only so-so hit she's had was due to a music video where she gave the illusion of being naked. She's merely a glorified back-up singer now on other people's singles. You're arguing about the word icon? She's not even worthy of two minutes on a national show. My penis is more worthy of fame than her.

  • I'm replying because I need to kill time. Arguing with idiots on youtube is a nice pasttime for the holidays. You and the other guy.

I'm not arguing about the definition of icon, though I appreciate your failed attempt at responding to an argument. At least you tried unless the previous times.

The show IS NOT ABOUT ICONS AT ALL. How many times do I have to say it? She's creative person, therefore she deserves to be on the show. period.

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf sorry if my responses don't match your comments, I'm not really reading past the first line you write, and more often not even that far, LOL. Sorry, just responding because you're such an easy target to string along. Fiona Apple is not a creative visionary. She's not even relative. Its pretty funny that you think she's a creative visionary but a real insult to those that truly are.

  • That is like the first relevant response in a long while. It's unimaginable what school you go to that you would clear top 5.

Fiona in my opinion is a creative visionary, she writes her own songs, they are heartfelt, there's no singer/songwriter quite like her, you don't see that, fine. At least on this point it doesn't absymally stupid to agree to disagree, though I get the faint feeling that "those who truly are" according to you, are icons. But no matter.

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf Once again, you are wrong. I cannot take you seriously. You seem to just be saying the opposite of the truth just for the sake of causing an argument. No one could possibly believe what you believe.

  • Wrong on wat?

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf please, there's not enough space to address what's wrong, instead I'll only address those things that are right......see, that didn't take up too much space.

  • That is a pathetic answer. You just cannot deliver a solid argument that's why. All you are capable of is repeating how wrong I am and how right you are ad nauseum.

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf Your statement: "how wrong I am and how right you are" is much appreciated. thank you for admitting it.

  • Just tell me where you think I'm wrong you idiot. Stop stalling.

  • WHERE I WAS RIGHT:

Chappelle chose Angelou, Judd chose Albright, Branson chose Desmond Tutu, etc. Some just choose friends or self-serving promotions for their charity. Fiona Apple does not meet the standard for this show.

    WHERE YOU WERE WRONG:

Instead of me copying everything you wrote and reposting it here (which would take several posts), just go back and re-read everything you wrote, and that will answer your question.

  • Where you think you were right:

Firstly, find me quotes that one chose the other. You make so many stuff up, I want to see some evidence before you make any more conjectures.

The standard for the show is being a true creative individual, Fiona certainly meets that.

Where you think I was wrong:

That is not good enough. Surely you can summarize on WHAT POINTS I was wrong? Surely your linguistic skills don't fail you so? I thought you were supposed to be among the top students in your school.

  • As a brief elaboration on what I jsut wrote, I cannot find on the official website anything about one gust choosing the other, so until you can give me quotes by the producer themselves, I'm not buring it.

Also, you do nothing but say in a very roundabout way, that I'm wrong all the time. If you're trying to be clever don't, if the dismissive attitude makes you feel smart, well let me tell you it doesn't look that way. Unless you need me to summarize my arguments for you? That would be sad.

  • No. You're wrong. People who are right don't need long-winded explanations.

  • That's pathetic.

Rather, people who are right don't need to dodge questions, especially when asked to point mistakes in arguments. Since you cannot do any of that, it stands that I am right, regardless wat crappy excuse you dig up to avoid exactly saying where I am wrong.

  • @asdfhuliashduflasihf Bullshit. You're wrong and you just won't admit it. No one has to answer your pathetic questions to prove they are right. That's arrogant of you to even suggest it. I know in your little world you think you are some sort of judge or hack TV host, but no one has to answer your questions to prove they are right. You're an idiot with a tantrum like a little kid stating "answer my questions, answer my questions, boo hoo". That's not the way the world works my friend.

  • I won't admit I'm wrong because you have not shown me where I was wrong. If you so convince me that my arguments are wrong, that I have no problem admitting it.

It's not arrogant to demand truth. And you have repeatedly failed to give any satisfactory answer and have always opted for the ad hominem attacks.

I ask you to answer my questions, because I'm reminding you, you avoid the topic. You digress. You have not proven yourself right at all, other than screaming I AM RIGHT YOU ARE WRONG YOU

  • ARE SO STUPID etc. etc.

You think that's proving you're right? You really do? You think proving that you're right involves pure stupid self-affirmation? You really do? You just say that you're right because the words came out of your own mouth. That's the ONLY reason why you say you're right. Of course, who can doubt His highness whatever-your-name is? Your word is always set in stone isn't it?

Well, you said it, "that's not the way the world works my friend. "

  • I stopped reading at the first etc. You really are quite boring and wrong all the time.

  • Those were from you. I'm sorry you bore yourself.

You have been wrong from the start where you didn't even know the definition of iconoclast but pretended you did. And I know that even if I make everything blindingly obvious, your knee-jerk response is "I am always right. I am never wrong. Even when the dictionary disagrees".

  • No. You're wrong. You're funny in a pathetic loser type of way, but you're wrong.

  • No, I'm right. I've proved myself, unlike you. The only answer you can give is to say other people is wrong because you cannot defend yourself. Who's pathetic now?

  • I agree Fiona Apple is a dumb choice for this show. And its arrogant to think anyone dip shit who posts a comment has the right to have his questions answered. You are as stupid as the asdfhulias person.

  • Oh, I was just curious. Didn't even read the comment.

I just know the dude said something=something but he didn't care to corroborate it with facts. On the other hand, the other dude did it.

Call me nosy.. meh, that's me. But I'm curious about some facts.

  • the other guy (asdfuhlias) is a troll who disagrees with everyone and then lists a bunch of annoying and irrelevant questions to people that are a complete waste of anyone's time, especially for You Tube, LOL.

  • ...so, you're wrong.

  • Fiona Apple would kick your ass, kid. Before you judge, you really should listen to her record "When the Pawn..." Every track is amazing. Some music takes time to get into... It sounds weird at first, but that's just because it's different.. Once you get used to it, you realize how amazing DIFFERENT is. Fiona Apple is a fucking hero in my book. An artist for art's sake. You obviously haven't given her a real listen or you might know this. Grow up and open your mind.

  • @TeenagedCircus

    It's just a person....calm down.

  • @TeenagedCircus why r they completely invaluable?

dont you mean are not valuable at all?

    ... hmm i dont follow 0_o

  • @madrandombutterfly2 @TheKenTerry Allow me to put what I was saying into better words: Fiona is amazing. She's just a person, but her music is very influential. The world should take more notice of people such as her.

  • @TeenagedCircus

sorry i usually wouldnt of said anything but i think i was in a bad mood at the time :S - i got wat you meant i was just being rude

fiona is excellent! i think thats wat the moral of the story is lol

  • @childofiona

You grow up and stop pushing your biased opinions onto others.

  • @childofiona I agree! Fiona, Tori Amos and others have changed the very fiber of music. I grew up in the death metal scene in California (talk about hair raising)...and I still get chills when I hear "Criminal" by Fiona or "Give" by Tori. There is a significant difference in music from the average POP group and a classically trained artist. They really need to be played on the radio instead of the garbage that has destroyed the radio as we've known it.

  • Comment removed

  • @childofiona YES YES YES. fiona's one of the most underrated artists ever. and When The Pawn is SUCH a phenomenal record.

  • @poeticjournalism absolutely; out of the three amazing albums, When the Pawn is always first place

  • @childofiona Fiona Apple is a hero to me i love all her albums my fave is when the pawn i love all the track never skip through it Fiona Apple your off da chain!!!!!!!cant wait for her new album in 2011!!!!

  • @childofiona hi calm down calm down shes gone and she aint coming back her little stunt at madison sqaure garden assured that such a bummer but she is gone

  • @joeguinn39 what stunt?

  • @childofiona She is just amazing for sure! I wish she would get more credit. I hate that people just listen to shit. :(

  • @normangrl I LOVE Fiona, but why can't I listen to shit, too? Are you music police? Hate it when I do something more sinister. :)

  • @childofiona Maybe you should grow up and realise taste isn't universal, and your taste isn't superior to everyone else's.

  • @finbomartini maybe you should do something better with your time than attack an artist and people that like that artist on youtube ;)

  • I love his movies, but Quentin's dialogue is the cheesiest shit ever written. I wouldn't insult God by implying it's divinely inspired.

  • @ryanlbaggett

i dont think thats wat quentin is getting at

i think he just means its easy for him - isnt that wat talent is?

(tbh non rhetorical question at the end... )

  • People make stupid comments but they don't understand how complex the creative process is. Expressing it is also not easy.

  • Both great artists but it would have been better to see QT sitting with Martin Scorsese or Francis Ford Coppolla... Fiona Apple should have been pared up with Stevie Nicks or Pat Benatar...

  • I wasn't aware that two geniuses could fit in the same care.

  • They should've f#cked.

  • The kind of success they both maintain is driven by pure talent.

  • I 'd rather hear WHAT he is saying that be all concerned w/ whom he has sex.

  • Yeah, I don't relly care that much either. Besides the Mya Angelou/ Dave Chappelle Iconoclasts is my fav.

  • See this movie and it was done with Hollywood big dough Youth with out Youth ....Let me know what you think of it ?

  • What movie? If you want to keep chatting and for some reason you tube fails us you can follow me to facebook... Lor Greenwood...Later

  • Chatting about what ?

  • I disagree. I thought the same when deathproof came out. But after watching inglorious basterds Ive changed my opinion

  • I will see it now that you say its good .

  • oh fuck!

tarantino and fiona on the same van!

    =D

  • Only 3 albums in 13 years... :'(

  • Less is more. Don't mind market rules.

  • Less is more? Not when you're a fan...

  • Hiya, Betsare: I understand you and I'm little sad too because I'm a big fan, but think Apple preffers quality and autenticity all along her albums. Fill with anything a CD after a pair of sounds alike, catchy or over-promoted tracks is very easy and fake. Big musicians know how to listen silence, not to be greedy and protect independence.

  • Both such characters and artistic geniuses...I want to see this episode in full

  • This was my favorite episode ever of the show. Tarantino is one of my favorite directors and Apple is one of my favorite musicians. They are both so brilliant and insightful with REAL talent. Tarantino is actually a genius too. The guy has an IQ of 160...

  • two smart people, one addict, one type a. you pick.

  • These are two well educated, talented individuals, who are clearly unappreciated by mainstream guppies like most of the twits who posted negative comments about them. You all can go back to sucking on the Jonas' Brother's dicks, these artists don't need myspace whores like you!

  • Some things can never ever been said better :)

  • Geez, wish i had their problem!

  • I have never seen these shows. Can anyone tell me what they are about.

  • basically just two entertainers talking about their professions for an hour with snippets inbetween of talking about their past

  • "awesome fuckers"? yes! ;)
