How about the camp david meetings in which the Palastine was offered about 98% of Gaza and the west bank as well as other lands that they lived on before, yet refused. Why would they refuse? They could have had thier own states by now if they did not refuse the offer. Did they not mess up big time by refusing? This deal was proposed years ago and to this day there is still no solution. I only hope that such offer can rise agian and that this time Palastine takes it so that there can be peace.

Get your fact straight. The "siege" on gaza started on september 2007, AFTER Hamas has taken over Gaza by force and illegaly. Before that the passages into Gaza were open even though they have been attacked several times.
Attacking open passages is really asking for it. Rockets have been fired into Israel for the past 8 years, regardless of any "siege".

When Arab Christians (Lebanese) donated money to Democratic Party, the money was returned due to protests from some Jews, not that those Christians necessarily supported Arab causes or were anti-Israeli. Also, Fulbright was harassed, and he was very pro-American. Strom Thurmond almost lost an election when he wanted to cut aid, so he later went to Israel and wore a yarmulke. Some arms sales didn't go through.

I could have added that there has been more and more cracks in the armor of the right wing pro-Israeli lobby. Yes, Americans are becoming less religious, though not necessarily atheists and Buddhism is growing. People are more socially liberal. I didn't support what Milosevic did vis-a-vis Kosovo in terms of removing the autonomy, but I didn't support what NATO did to Serbia in that case. I believe firmly that genocide did occur when it comes to the Bosnians, and they did find evidence of that. As far as ethnic cleansing, you don't have to murder someone to do that. Elias Khayyo, a Christian, is being deported from the Christian quarter because he had US residency at one point, and Israel doesn't give Jerusalemites citizenship.

You seem to be confused about Bosnian Serbs, who may have committed genocide in Bosnia, and Serbs, the citizens of the State of Serbia. Kosovo, the place where Serbian nationsprang from, is now ethnically cleansed of Serbs in favor of Alabians (nothing to do with Bosnia). Why Belgrade had to be bombed for what presumably was taking place in Kosovo is still a puzzle for me. 3000 Serbs (and 0 NATO servicemen) lost their lives.

Gaza was illegally occupied by Israel in 2000 (Much of the west bank is still illegally occupied by Israel)
Until all illegal occupation ends Palestinians have an internationally accepted right to resist. Israel should withdraw to pre 67 borders (which after all gives them the 55% of Palestine which they where generously given by the UN in 48).

I was in the system (idf) until two weeks ago. Before every mission we're being told to think ten times before shooting and be very careful not to harm civilians.

I suspect it will be a long hard road to lasting peace. Military solutions can only be short term, and often end up adding to the problems. Lets hope, against all the odds, for a change in attitudes, and some genuine good will from the leaders.

I think this situation will get worse, the ceasefire won't hold, and, when it's too late, maybe real UN peacekeeping forces will be sent in, but I'm feeling pessimistic here. Many dont realize how small Gaza is (roughly 1.5% of New Jersey) & its too crowded. Theres not enough place to separate civilians from military targets. So the Idea that Hamas is hiding behind civilians is incorrect.
