Hello Charlie. Blessings to you. The mind is very powerful. Depression is an attack on the mind and you can fight but its hard relying on your own efforts, alone. This may go against conventional thought but maybe talking about the depression actually reinforces the problem. What we say has an effect on what we think and feel and ultimately do. Try talking about healing and recovery. Speak to people who have. God bless you.

Heart disease is not contagious. Cancer is generally not considered a "contagious" disease either (although viruses do play a role in some cancers such as cervical cancer). Worldwide AIDS has killed over 20M people, hence it's a higher priority than the US-only numbers alone would make it. We have never cured any virus so it's unsurprising we have no cure for HIV/AIDS.

It's none of our business how a person contracted HIV. That's private medical information. I never ask people that question, and I encourage others to do likewise. Also, I really dislike the nasty, prying, condescending tone of that comment.

My opinions I'm sure on HIV and AIDS differ from yours, but when the person is responsible for receiving the virus, it is their fault. That is why this virus is not usually talked about over the dinner table, because it is always a personal issue.

There's no evidence that HIV was created by humans. It has been found in stored blood samples from patients who died of then-unexplained symptoms (in retrospect, clearly clinical AIDS) as far back as 1959. At that time, we hadn't even discovered retroviruses, much less developed the technology to design a new one. Genetic studies provide evidence that it jumped to humans from a similar virus in primates.

IMPORTANT: THIS TOOK PLACE IN THE EARLY FIFTIES, and yes, we had HUGE stockpiles of scientific information at that time. designing virus may be new, but accidentally 'piggybacking' without knowing it, is nothing new.

Of course pharmaceutical companies make money by creating drugs to treat HIV, just like they do for diabetes or heart disease or any other disease--that's how the free market works! That doesn't mean pharmaceutical companies *created* HIV.
