@sebasamy13 Wood is the only way a real carpenter builds anything residential! Steel is for commercial usage as far as I'm concerned. Can't get custom enough w/ steel stud framing.
Great video! I have a small 6'x8' ceiling that I want to finish. Do you have any videos or help on options to doing this? The area only has 7 1/2' clearance to the floor, and I have ducts and 2 water pipes running parellel through the 8' dimension. The ducts drop down 8" from the ceiling. I was thinking of using drop ceiling and I know I could just make the whole ceiling drop down below the ducts, but is there a way to work around the ducts to maintain head room?
I also do this for a living, and I like your video's, shows my clients that framing and finishing their basements is not as easy as they think. Building soffits, going around pipes, unlevel concrete, making a thousand cuts etc, etc. One thing i did notice is you dont put any nailers in the corners for the rock. Also I know why you put those stongbacks on the foundation wall where the joists are running perpendicular to the studs, but i dont think the d.i.y,/homeowners know what their for.
I seen most of your videos and noticed you only use wood studs.Do you recommend steel stud or you just dont like working with them?

We do use nailers and i do show you this the Framing videos I have for sale.
My Framing Videos series explain the "strongbacks" as you called them in detail as well.We call this "block-nailing" in our videos.
Thank you for the professional insight it is greatly appreciated! Good luck with your basement projects as well!
