Past, I really hate Lang Lang. He was like a madman while playing the piano (my thoughts on him so when I don't really know about classical music) I prefer Teguh Sukaryo and Peter Vamos. But after I REALIZED, And when I saw this video, I was so supriseeeeeeeeeeeeedd to see Lang Lang. He's not bad, but he just enjoying his playing. I was so fascinated with him.

Well, it hasn't got the concert hall airiness or echo, which makes a difference. I still find Evgeny Kissin's clarity better. His note separation is so clean. There a real boominess happening in the bass. That's probably just the recording. Listen to Kissin play the same section from 2:26 to 2:30. When Kissin plays it, it's like a bell. When Lang plays it...just not as good.

I do think Lang Lang is a good pianist, but there are better. I also like Yuja Wang. Another student of Curtis Institute.

Lang Lang does too much showing off during the difficult sections, which in my opinion really destroys the piece's emotion. Just because a section is fast doesn't mean it needs to be done to excess. Lang Lang, Evgeny Kissinm, Yuja Wang, and several others are all guilty of this, and it certainly elucidates how extreme technique isn't everything when playing piano. There needs to be musicality as well.

Lang Lang, more Western background than Li Yundi.

Lang Lang won several international piano competition when he was still a kid and went to the US to study music and piano playing.

Yundi Li stayed in China until he won the International Federic Chopin Piano Competition at the age of 18 then went to Germany and study music.

I wouldn't blame Westerners for loving Lang Lang more because of this.
