  • The paradolia of course was in response to my spider...:>

  • *second attempt as first didn't go through*

I for a week had this spider walking across my ceiling...freaked me out first few times, but after that I got used to seeing it and just..watched it. I figured it out by end of the week that it was from playing WOW right before bed and the still retina burn of the map was what I was seeing, and my mind had filled in the gaps of the legs and everything as I tracked it across the ceiling, making it appear to be moving.

  • I think it's one of those cases of Paradolia, you see something then think it's something else and it's what you see.

I've seen a few other weird things...the latest thing is a white sheet that keeps being thrown at my face when I wake up, or open my eyes in bed...:> Bizzare, first time I was half awake looked over towards my computer and saw something white thrown over my head so I ducked...expecting a towel or something to land on me, of course nothing did...:>

  • There no such thing as souls ,there is only our own brains and perceptions of ourself ,our own alter ego ,standards and consciousness . souls are just as imaginary as Santa Claus .

  • I'm an atheist. But I do believe on ghosts. My dad was working outside in his garden and had a conversation for a half hour with an old man (said he was my dad's neighbour's father)whome my dad never met. When my dad told my neighbour about meeting his father he said he was dead for 2 years. My dad described him to last detail, even the cloths which he died in.

  • Very nice. I never looked at the soul this way. I Had a ghost experience too. Me and my partner swore we heard footsteps approaching while we were in bed, as if someone was sneaking up to us in the bed. We both felt it, several times, and couldn't explain it. Still can't explain it. I know there's an explanation, but it's still freaky when it happens.

  • But god GAVE that lady epilepsy so he could communicate with her!

Just kidding. I know this is a way old vid but I just wanted to say keep it up! You're preaching to the choir with me, but someone who's on the fence you might actually make a difference. Thanks, bud!

  • mankind has come so far from prehistoric days yet it still has a long way to go...you folks explaining how souls work is just regurgitating fables you've heard since you were a child...the fact remains that the dead don't talk so there is NO WAY to confirm such a notion as the soul. You go REGGIE!

  • If you are intelligent enough to think, then you are intelligent enough to know the transcendental nature of the self.

  • So if one's body and mind is inhibited, then the soul will apply that vehicle to that particular capacity. Otherwise, without a soul present, matter is inanimate. The proof of the soul is consciousness. Consciousness is superior to the senses, because although the consciousness is aware of the sensory experience, the senses themselves cannot experience consciousness. Thus the current theory that consciousness is produced from some material arrangement is unfounded and in the face of reason.

  • oinyo,

changing thought processes is not a change in the living entity itself. Memory loss is also not a change. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? The answer is yes. Just because something is not observed, or no longer observable, does not mean that the facts change. As I explained earlier, the soul acts to the capacity of the body. Just like the same quality light bulb filling different quantity rooms.

  • wow amjiva thats a ton of bs right there lol. all you did was yammer on and on and presented no actual facts, people themselfs do change. drugs change peoples entire thought process so that they seem like completely different people. if we had sould that would not happen? what about people that lose there memory and become completely differrnt then there past ?

Sorry i think im going to call the BS department to have you taken away

  • The light will fill different capacities, but it is the same type of bulb. In this analogy, the soul is likened to the bulb, consciousness to light, and the different rooms to different bodies. If a brain is damaged or altered, the same logic applies. All we are looking at with our inferior senses is material/chemical processes. We have no empirical access to understanding the self. Actually, the self is understood by it's being conscious. That is the perfect evidence in itself.

  • Damaging/altering the physical brain:

The argument here is that because damage or alteration to the brain has an affect on consciousness, therefore consciousness is produced by the brain. This does not follow. The same type of conscious self (or soul) resides in all living organisms, yet we understand that a cat does not act in the same capacity as a man, or a man in the same capacity as a tree. You can have a 100 watt light bulb in a tiny bathroom or you can have it in a larger dining room.

  • Might I add that this very consciousness is superior to the gross senses. Therefore as soon as it is presumed that by the senses we can ascertain a source for the consciousness, we fall into a paradox. Since the senses cannot experience the consciousness itself, and since the consciousness is the master of the senses, the idea that the consciousness takes origin in some gross material process is unfounded and contradictory.

  • The real scientific evidence, if you will, is the observation that self at least seems to persist whereas the body does not. In other words, we are always the same selves despite that our bodies are constantly changing. So far in modern science, they have no evidence to contradict what our very consciousness tells us.

  • worms don't go to heaven and neither do humans. Souls go to heaven. Souls are transcendental to worms, humans, dogs, trees, etc. yet souls are the animating principle in all these living organisms. It is not an anthropocentric theory. Also, the concept does not come about by desire to live on after the body. Although the desire to persist can be considered a clue to our transcendental nature.

  • Before science, insanity and things like your static electricity incident could EASILY be percieved as ghosts or spirits or supernatural phenomenon. I don't see why people don't understand this. Great vids. I'm sure that you are converting some religious people.

  • if you could see ghosts through your spirit.. wed be able to see gravity and stuff lol

  • LOL, I just got to the part with you discussing temporal lobe epilepsy!!! ^_^ I finally was diagnosed in 2003. Oh man, I keep throwing it in my moms face that all those things she attributed to being GAWD were just damn seizures.

  • I only throw it in her face because she burned a LOT of my tapes and RPG stuff when I was younger thinking I was being haunted because of being involved in things that "opened doors". LoL! I'm also bipolar, so that probably had something to do with it. My brother is only religious during his manic phases, but each time he gets manic my mom thinks it is god communicating to him. *sigh*

  • Maybe it's a physical affect of human emotion. Regardless, there must be something out there or there's some deep psychological stuff going on in our minds to make us see/experience these things.

  • That's more likely. For years my family was convinced I was seeing demons and ghosts, which really pissed me off from the standpoint of someone that didn't believe in that crap. Finally I was diagnosed with epilepsy, and it turns out the "visions" were the result of partial seizures. Thankfully my family didn't have the church beat and starve me to death, then make a movie about it exploiting the visions thing, as was the case in the situation "the exorcism of emily rose" was based upon. :-(

  • I don't happen to really believe in a soul either, but there's something about ghosts that I can't dismiss. It could be that we want to believe in a life after death, but there are other examples of poltergeist activity. I believe the activity is real, but am not sure of the explanation. Maybe there's some scientific explanation.

  • My explanation is a bit chaotic as I haven't thought it out throughly (a new idea that crossed my mind [not only mine]). So basicly it combines panentheism reicarnation (and it's spiritual evolution)/karmic law (and it's conception of soul - base of "memory" for all experiences, attached not only to humn beings but literally anything,

  • just the level of "awareness" differs) and multiverse theory based on quantum physics (every irreversible [so almost every] event, decision etc. creates a parallel reality [which accelerates experiencing things]).

  • I was an atheist several years ago, but not so much anymore because I grew tired of my own ignorance/arrogance. Now I find myself stuck in the middle watching both sides argue like there's no tomorrow.

  • i love shows like this. Religions are so rediculous. it's enjoyable to hear people who have similar thoughts about religion.

  • Great show. Here is a an excellent article on the internet about the soul. http://www.ebonmusings.org/atheism/ghost.html

  • Skeptic is a good thing, its easier to play offense than defence but still hes just vocalizing what anybody thinks about in year one of being an atheist.

  • The reason he is vocalizing basic atheist toughts is to try to get believers in the bible to actually take a good look at their beliefs.

  • If you looked up the definition of skeptic in the dictionary you'd see this guy's face. His arguments against religion are as baseless as the religious theories themselves.

  • lol he is just thinking.

  • Man, I had the same questions...you just made my day. Can't wait to see more. great show!!!

  • dzhel, try this: Can God create a stone so heavy that he cannot pick it up? If he can't pick up a stone that heavy he isn't all powerful. If he can't make a stone that heavy he isn't all powerful.

  • Hi queen, yes this shows essentially that there is no way the claim that God is omnipotent is correct. God can only do what's logically possible, which means, indeed.. he does have limits. Transcendentally Powerful might be a new term they can use. But he ain't ALL powerful.

  • @infidelguy I JUST BELEIVE THT WE ARE KEPT ALIVE BY ENERGY

WHICH COULD BE LIKE SPIRITUAL WE NEVER KNOW

  • He can call me and we can have some fun on the air. :)

  • Another great show. Keep them coming.
